Reviews

We are a family of three generations, from 40’s to 90’s years. We had a wonderful weeks stay at Briarcliffe Cottage. Lovely home from home accommodation. Excellent facilities, two en suite bathrooms, plus a large family bathroom. There was also a toilet downstairs which was great for my grandmother saving her up and down stairs. We had only one complaint, the cloakroom under the stairs smelt quite disgusting. The wet mop had been left in there. We put the mop and bucket outside in the back and sprayed the room everyday. Even at the end of the week the musty smell was still obvious. Could I suggest the mop is not left inside the property. We had wonderful weather, so some fans upstairs would have helped because the bedrooms became so hot. These are just a couple of points I would make. We did have a really good stay here, parking for two cars was brilliant. Would definitely stay again.

This cottage, booked via Sykes Cottages, is a wonderful family house, suitable for up to 6 people. It's more like a hotel in that 2 of the 3 bedrooms are ensuite (there's a massive family bathroom and downstairs toilet as well!) and each bedroom has a TV in it (as well as one downstairs in the lounge.) The kitchen, separate dining room and living room are all spacious and well-equipped and there's an outdoor area with BBQ and outdoor seating/ table for dining as well. Easily located in Lindale near Grange-over-Sands, this is a fantastic location for a holiday in the South Lakes area. Highly recommended. There's everything you need, including fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, cooker, microwave, coffee machine, and it was beautifully clean and well furnished.

A very well appointed cottage with en-suite facilities which were comparable to a top class hotel. A very efficient open fire as the nights were getting colder.

We particularly liked Briarcliffe Cottages' open fire and having the use of three bathrooms. We visited lots of attractions in the area.

The property is in a good location to the southern lakes and easy to reach from the M6 and A590. Its situated in Lindale which is a pleasant village with everything you need near by. The house had been decorated and and furnished to a high standard with an en suite for the 2 main bedrooms which we found very useful. We had everything we needed in the property. If returning to this area would use the property again and will certainly recommend it to others.

A good location and a nice cosy cottage. It was well equipped, little but with a lovely garden and on a quiet street with 2 pubs nearby!

The cottage was great and owners very thoughtful. We were impressed with the cottage. It has everything you need and was comfortable, very clean and tidy.

Rated by Mrs Lace reviewed on 18th November 2014

Briarcliffe Cottage is located in the village of Lindale just off the A590, It's a great location for visiting the many attractions of the Southern Lake District. The cottage is beautifully presented, with three well sized bedrooms, two of which have en-suites, leaving the main bathroom as a private bathroom for bedroom three. Downstairs the lounge, dining room and kitchen are well equipped. With an attached sun room accessed from the rear there is plenty of room to leave footwear and wet clothing, not something we needed as we had fine weather.

Rated by A FlipKey verified reviewer reviewed on 6th August 2014

The location for the South Lake District was good, with easy access to the A590 which runs along the whole length of the southern part. We particularly liked the fact that the property had a bathroom for each bedroom with two en-suites and a main bathroom for a three bedroomed property.

A very pleasing location in the village of Lindale. The village shop was convenient and the two pubs easily accessed. The children's playground provided a useful diversion on occasions. The house was delightful.

Briarcliffe is a lovely and very comfortable house with everything needed for a great self catering holiday. The fittings and furnishings are of a high standard. It is very clean and easily managed, and the garden is lovely for sitting in in the evenings, with barbecue, large table etc. It is in a small friendly village with a shop about 100 yards away and two pubs close by, good for eating out.

The location of Lindale made travel in and around the Lakes very easy and easy to find off the M6. The house was excellent with 3 double bedrooms, 2 ensuite and a large bathroom, particularly good if there are 2 couples or more staying.

Briarcliffe cottage is absolutely beautiful. It is big and spacious with a lovely garden, ideal for sitting out at night with the chiminea blazing. It's an ideal base for exploring this beautiful part of the country. All the facilities in the cottage are good. The open fire was great, we lit it a few times for a bit of ambiance. All in all I would thoroughly recommend the cottage if you want somewhere to come back to after a day out exploring the Lake District and to relax with a glass of wine or three.

We thought the house was very spacious and the facilities were of a very high standard. All the rooms were of a high standard. The kitchen was wel equipped and there were plenty of crockery etc. The house was very warm and although we were looking forward to lighting the open fire we did not need to. If we wanted to stay in this area again we would certain hope that this property was available.

Excellent service from both Sykes and the owner. Cottage decorated and furnished to high standard, beautiful throughout. Ideal location for walking and handy for touring the Lake District. Couple of nice eating pubs and a shop on the doorstep.

Rated by A FlipKey verified reviewer reviewed on 4th January 2010

Excellently decorated interior ( the kids loved the big telly! ) beds were a bit hard and had trouble sleeping , could have done with some more literature of places to visit , as we went to Grange over sands which was a bit of a dump. The location was not remote enough for our liking , we had a workshop next door to us , and the weather was also a bit pants , not our best Sykes experience i'm afraid.

The property is furnished to a high standard, in fact we could not find fault in anything, everything was there that we needed. In a quiet village close to an excellent public house serving good food and nicely located for visiting the Lake District.

Rated by Chris Bostock reviewed on 17th December 2009

The property was of very high standard and as this was the first time we've stayed in a holiday cottage we've been totally spoiled. The decor was excellent and there was such a homely feel from the moment we stepped in. There was so much space in every room and we had plenty of room that the two families that stayed there didn't get under one anothers feet (4 adults, 2 four year olds and a 6 month old). The cottage was ideally located, close to many places to visit and Lindale itself was very quaint and quiet. Couldn't fault the property at all - excellent.

Our time spent in the Lake District was Ace. Everything about our goliday there was great, the cottage was everything we wished for and more, would highly recommend it. Good base to stay, as there is so much to see and do around the area. Lindale is a nice little village, with a good pub at top of the hill, good food served, with nice friendly staff. Grange-Over-Sands which is a ten minute drive away, is a small town with excellent shops ,and eating places. Not to be missed,as it has lots of features from the Edwardian times. We shall go back thats for sure,as it was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the wide open spaces that the Lakes have to offer.Just beautiful.

Rated by A FlipKey verified reviewer reviewed on 2nd December 2009

Having arrived at the cottage in LINDALE rather earlier than the allocated time, we were met by a young lady who had just finished cleaning it.She was absolutely brilliant and told us everything we wanted to know about the cottage and surrounding area. This is definately the best cottage we have ever stayed in. It is very big and spacious, and finished to a very high specification, situated in a great location for exploring the South Lakes area. There are two pubs nearby, but I wouldnt recommend the bottom one for eating. The one at the top of the hill is far better and has a lovely beer garden if the weather is nice.Be aware, however, that the shop / post office isn't open all day so bring enough supplies for the first couple of days. The supermarkets and shops in Grange-Over-Sands, which is a short drive away ,are well stocked for everything needed during a stay at the cottage. There is nothing negative that I could say about this cottage. It is the best we have ever stayed in and I doubt we will find one as good anywhere in the uk

We loved the cottage, the standard of decor and refurbishment was 1st class. The beds were very comfortable , which is not always the case when on holiday .The cottage was well positioned in the village , close to a shop and the pubs, as well as having great walks on the doorstep. The area is glorious , so the combination of all these things made for a wonderful break.

Rated by Ms Coates reviewed on 6th July 2007

The property was stunning - a real show home. Done to a fantastic standard and great value for money. It felt like a boutique hotel rather than a holiday cottage. Fantastic!

Rated by Mrs Gleave reviewed on 8th May 2007

It was a wonderful cottage. I could not fault it. Considering it was a last minute booking I could not believe the standard of the cottage. The neighbours were very friendly and helpful too. Plenty of space for the children. It is worth mentioning that there is a children's recreation ground within 7 minutes walk , there are also TVs in each bedroom, which was a nice surprise, especially for the children. The Local Pub within 2 mins walk served lovely food and was very welcoming. It is a good base to tour the Lake District and we will definitely return to the cottage.
