Reviews

The house is blessed with a fantastic venue being right on the Square and handy for all the village amenities, including but not exclusively the Post Office, butchers, bakers, green grocers, the Square cafe, tourist information, art & craft centre, petrol station(s), AND the selection of pubs, with our favourite right on the Square, The Manor. We have stayed in lots of different accommodation in Broughton but Hillside definitely rates as one of the best, so warm and welcoming and well resourced. It was a first eating home cooked curry in the dining room in front of an open fire! Having stayed previously we appreciated the extra double bed in the family room and would love to come in summer to make the most of the new garden arrangements. Definitely self catering accommodation with much to recommend it, but could be tempted to keep it quiet so we can come again!

Comfortable accommodation with lots of space, and it was well equipped. The garden was a lovely bonus and the location was great, right in the village square with good local shops, pubs and great restaurant.

Hillside was set in a nice, quiet village and close to amenities. Hillside was well furnished, clean and tidy. I would recommend Hillside and the whole experience to friends and family.

Hillside is a beautiful and comfortable cottage. It was better than the photos and description on your website. A lovely place to come back to after a day out.

A fabulous cottage. I don't think the pictures on the website do it justice, it was much more spacious and luxurious than we expected. The location is perfect, and the cottage is spacious and cosy. We couldn't have picked better for our trip to the Lakes.

A beautiful cottage that was spotlessly clean. It is located in a very quiet position with the town square, great pubs and a bakery a few minutes' walk away. Also an excellent cafe next door that does an excellent cooked breakfast. An ideal location for touring. Will stay at this property again.

Everything was great.

Rated by Mrs Worley reviewed on 26th March 2015

A lovely cottage; spacious, warm and well equipped. Both fires were a roaring success over Christmas and the pool table was a real bonus. In a great location; cafe next door with fabulous food, real ale pub across the road, bakery and shop. Friendly and helpful owner and neighbours and it was a short walk or drive to fells. We will keep coming back again and again..

The house was very warm and comfortable. The snooker room was a great bonus and kept us very happily entertained on wet days and in the evenings.

Rated by Mrs Gemmell reviewed on 5th January 2015

The standard of the cottage was high. Sitting in the garden was a delightful way to end each afternoon.

Rated by Mrs Greenhalgh reviewed on 14th June 2014

Lovely house, have now stayed with family twice. Great for accessing Coniston and a perfect location with several pubs and cafes on the doorstep. Despite being in the town square we were never disturbed by noise. Will definitely return.

Broughton-in-Furness is a lovely village and in driving distance of all of the lakes. The cottage was homely and comfortable and was warm, with the central heating and coal fires for the evenings. We would thoroughly recommend this as a great place to stay and hope to visit again. There were plenty of walks around the area for all abilities and the valley just a mile from the cottage was spectacular.

The property was great and the photos do not do it justice; the size or the layout was far better than we expected. It was in a great village location.

The cottage was very clean and well-maintained, with spacious rooms throughout. The kitchen and dining room were very well equipped; the lounge was comfortable, and the pool room was an added bonus. Outside there is a very attractive back garden, with a table and chairs. upstairs the bedrooms were spacious, well furnished and comfortable. The cottage is situated in the town's main square, with shops, pubs/restaurants, bus stops and the tourist office very close by.
