Reviews

We decided to take a last minute break and set about reading the reviews of properties that fit our criteria; in the country, pet friendly, peaceful, smoke free and within easy driving distance of Dublin. One name cropped up again and again, The Visiting House over in County Galway. We decided to take a chance and see for ourselves what the hype was all about and what a great decision that was. From a warm welcome from Peter and Elsa to the joy of discovering the hot tub underneath the stars. There is also a natural plunge pool which will be great fun in the warmer weather. The cottage is immaculately clean and has everything you need for a relaxed holiday. I could go on and on but why not find out for yourself?

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at The Visiting House between 27th July and 3rd August 2019. Peter & Elsa were wonderful hosts and have obviously put a lot of thought and effort into creating the perfect retreat - the cottage is cosy and well equipped (there was nothing we needed that wasn't there). Beds were very comfortable and the property was very clean. Great location for those who love peace and quiet, but within close proximity to local shops, takeaways, eateries and places for days out. Our visit to Lough Key country park and activity centre and Galway were amongst our favourite. We made good use of the BBQ, natural plunge pool, hot tub, games room, bikes and enjoyed greetings from the 2 dogs Oliver and Darragh, not forgetting Honey (horse) and Henry (donkey) at the end of the driveway - who loved a daily treat of carrots/ apples. Thanks Peter & Elsa, we had a fab stay, were blessed with great weather and were sad to leave. If you are reading this review and are wondering if you should book a stay at The Visiting House - do it! The Visiting House is a place which is good for the soul and perfect for creating memories from.

We did have a great week at the visiting house. Even thought it was January and the weather was a bit dull, the house was a perfect nest, clean, bright and spacious, super well equipped, altogether very conformable. Peter and Elsa (and Oliver & Darragh) were very friendly and welcoming. Love that part of Ireland, it's beautiful, we will have to give it a go during the summer time... Thanks again for having us,

Superb self catering stay. The Visiting House is a wonderfully renovated 3 bed cottage set in rural Co. Galway. We had a fantastic time exploring the wild countryside on foot and using the bicycles provided by the hosts. The hot tub and natural swimming pool were enjoyed by all as well as the pool table and air hockey in the games room. We will definitely be coming again.

I have never considered staying in a cottage and after do a few searches and making a few enquiries we decided to book up and stay in this cottage unfortunately we could only stay one week in this one due to the cottages being popular. I can certainly say a choice well picked the cottage is stunning with lots to do at the cottage itself that we didnt need to worry about going places. The views are spectacular and very peaceful. The history of the cottage itself was interesting to know. Peter and Elsa the owners were lovely, friendly and welcoming especially with the homemade scones, jam and wine waiting after our long journey to Dunmore.... thank you. The family and i enjoyed our stay at the visiting house and would highly recommend staying... especially if you don't mind dogs, a horse and donkey all friendly and lovely animals. Thanks for having us i would definitely stay again.

The cottage is updated with all the modern amenities and is so cozy, and is nested in the countryside, a short drive into Dunmore, not far from Tuam, the owners Peter and Elsa are lovely people, and went all out to make sure we had everything we needed, anything you could think of they had; even made us home made bread and left a lovely bottle of wine. It's been an unforgettable experience.

The cottage was homely with some nice touches. The garden was beautiful and private and the pool and hot tub a bonus. The views across the fields were spectacular. The cottage was central to explore plenty of Ireland in all directions. The beds were comfortable. The owners were friendly but not intrusive.

I could not fault one thing about this house or the people who own it. It felt like a home away from home. I will be coming back again, I loved every minute of it and can't wait to come back again.
