Our stay at the Brookside Manor House cottage was a delightful experience immersed in nature, complete with a swimming pool, hot tub, and wood fire. We have been to this charming retreat with our theatre group, who are preparing for a show in April. This short getaway provided us with a perfect setting to both relax and rehearse. We are already looking forward to returning in the future.

I stayed at Brookside Manor for 3 nights from the 17th to 20th February 2023 in a group of about 30 people. The Manor itself is stunningly gorgeous - huge, with rambling grounds and a beautiful view of the rolling fields. The dining room/room you enter via is lovely - those huge tables allow for everyone to sit and eat together, and there were candles lit when we first arrived, which was a lovely touch. The staircase is grand, the kitchen is cosy (especially the aga), and there are lots of conveniences, such as the multiple fridges, the kitchenette, the many bedrooms, the multiple en suites, and the cupboard containing an ironing board and various cleaning bits. Some bits of the manor are a bit tired and outdated. For example, the bathroom near bedroom 7 has a very flickery light, which isn't necessarily a problem for most people, but as someone who has seizures it meant I couldn't shower at night as it was strong enough to set them off. The lack of towels provided was also a frustration - the listing on the site we booked it via listed towels as provided, and we only found out they weren't provided the day before. I'd highly recommend staying at Brookside so long as you have access to a car or are willing to wait a bit for a taxi. You will also need to get a supermarket delivery or, again, be willing to drive. There are some lights that need fixing, areas which need a touch up of paint, general bits of repair, but it's a STUNNING place to spend time and I will absolutely be back!

Spent 4 wonderful days at this beautiful house, it’s full of character and the perfect place to get all of the family together. Special memories made with my lovely Nan which I will treasure. So much for the kids to do, hot tub and sauna were the highlight. Spent the evenings in the conservatory which was my favourite room. Such a wonderful part of the country, nobody was ready to come home. Would highly recommend.

It was third time lucky for us, we’ve been trying for a long time to get to Brookside Manor House thanks to Covid. However it was definitely worth the wait. We were a group of 22 ranging from 3 months to 88 years old and the house and all it’s amenities had plenty of space and things to do to keep us busy. Simon, the owner, was on hand and helped us out when we had a couple of issues with the showers and they were soon rectified. A truly memorable family stay!

We stayed here for a large family celebration and had a great time. The pool was lovely and warm and a good size, and the hot tub was great. The bedrooms were spacious and there are lots of rooms downstairs such as library, piano room, snooker rooms, large dining space, kitchen diner, massive conservatory with wood burner so we weren’t on top of each other. We stayed here for 3 nights and visited Chirk castle which was nice but we were quite happy staying in the house. Simon was very helpful and accommodating.

Brookside was a joy to stay in. The pool and hot tub are highlights. Some old reviews say the kitchen lacks glasses/ pots and pans- This isn't the case now. The house is full of character and was 30-40 min walk to Chirk, and a 15 min drive to a supermarket. Simon was a great host who answered all our questions and left us largely to our own devices. Looking forward to heading back

I have just come back from a two night stay at Tulip Lodge & can't fault it at all. The owner couldn't have been more helpful, the hot tub was fantastic and the lodge itself was really comfortable. There were three children in our party and they had a brilliant time in the swimming pool and the play area. The area itself is beautiful. We popped into the local pub; The Butcher's Arms, for drinks and some delicious food. Again, perfect for the kids with a pool table and large outdoor area with kids play area. Excellent weekend!

Great communication from the owners prior to arrival who were also on hand if we needed them, around but not intrusive. Impressive house upon arrival clean and tidy lots of rooms for different groups to chill in. Spacious house and grounds. Swimming pool and hot tub definite hits with the kids, snooker room Use of the squash courts is a Great facility, gym could do with updating but was ok for the time we were there. Good working kitchen (could do with more wine glasses - or perhaps less people that drink ) Great walks around the area through forest with the kids to Chirk Castle Would we return ? Definitely great time had by all, thanks Simon

Just back from an amazing weekend at brookside manor. Simon was great and couldn't do enough for us not that we needed anything because the house was fabulous and catered to our every need. We had a very mixed age group of 30 people eldest 70 youngest 12 months, but we never felt on top of each other or in each other's way. It has an amazing set up so you could be chilling watching tv, whilst the kids played hide and seek and other people were partying and you would even know. It's a great place, kids loved the pool, adults loved the hot tub, men loved the snooker table and women loved everyone being happy. I can't recommend this place enough if you are looking for somewhere to party, chill and laugh this is the place for you. Many happy memories made thank you Simon hopefully we will be back soon

A great house for family's and friends to spend time together, in a lovely setting, the manor has all the amenities you could want, the owners were so helpful and friendly, even seeing in our Tesco delivery! We were also blessed with stunning weather, we could have easily stayed longer, and look forward to a return visit. Our group was made up of all ages, and the manor had something to offer to all

Booked for a three night family gathering. It's fair to say everyone had a great time, the children in particular enjoyed exploring and playing in the many rooms and outside areas. Whilst the adults also enjoyed their stay, it is only fair to mention a few negatives. The house was cold. Despite our best efforts with the radiators and log fires, it was really only the kitchen and sunroom that held any warmth. Hot water also didn't last long, perhaps indicative of a lack of boiler capacity generally? As other previous contributors have mentioned, the house is tired. Lots of the features need maintaining or replacing. Whilst most things work, it's often not at the standard you may expect- remember this house is advertised(and presumably priced) as "luxury". In summary, we had a great stay, and despite the issues above, I would recommend it.

We loved the size of the property so that 24 of us could enjoy family time together. The pool was a great success with the children and adults enjoyed the hot tub and sports facilities. The view from the front garden across to Chirk castle is stunning. Given it was the end of October, we were very lucky with the weather; Autumn colours in the sunshine were amazing!

We rented this house as a family for the October 2015 half term. The specification on paper looked very impressive and we were all really looking forward to our stay. The house has so much potential but very little of that potential has been realised. Where do I begin??? There were so many things that were broken or not working, I'll list them below... The House - The house is really big and has bucket loads of potential. However there were so many problems with it. The whole house was generally very tatty and needs a major refurbishment. The fridge was leaking water onto the floor, one of the toilets was leaking from the cistern onto the floor. There were several nail heads sticking out of the wooden floors that the children were catching their feet on, thankfully it only tore their socks and not their skin (I hammered in the ones we found, but I'd rather save my diy skills for my own house!). Only the most basic channels were working on the Sky box. One of the showers was not working. The running machine was broken and the gym generally was not up to much. Many of the lightbulbs were blown and not replaced. The cot supplied is only a travel cot and is not supplied with sheets (thankfully my wife had brought some spare ones). Outside - The decking areas were covered in green moss/algae. All the paving areas could do with a pressure wash. Part of the external render was missing and had been covered up with tarpaulin. The Swimming Pool - The water looked cloudy and was very cold. The building that housed it was on its last legs, the doors and windows wouldn't close properly and the pool liner was coming away in quite a few places. The Sauna - This only had one of its elements working so would not reach a suitable temp. There was no water bucket or ladle to put water on the stones. It was generally unclean and the toilet just outside overflowed onto the floor if flushed twice in a row. In summary, this could be an amazing place to stay but it needs a lot of work doing to get to that place. There are some great things to do nearby, Chirk Castle is well worth a visit and caters for all ages. There is an aqueduct nearby and plenty of lovely walks to go on, it really is a beautiful area.

We were a party with a wide age range and can honestly say we all had a terrific time as there was something for everyone. The hot tub was a particular favourite and the gardens and views were just lovely. There was plenty to see and do in the area and we especially enjoyed the castle at Chirk which was just over the valley.

I holidayed here as part of a group of friends and found the house perfect for our needs. There are plenty of downstairs rooms to spread out into so some could watch tv , others play cards and others just sit and chat. The hot tub and pool were in great demand and we enjoyed the BBQ and outdoor area when the sun shone.

Booked this place a year in advance to ensure somewhere to hold my 60th birthday celebrations. Fantastic setting, enough rooms to satisfy everyone, albeit many are family rooms. The kitchen is large and most times this is where you found everyone. Some of the appliances need a good service, but we worked around this by utilising the various ovens. Bedrooms are warm and bright, however, some of the heating needs an overhaul, but electric oil heaters were provided to supplement the heating. The pool is just right for kids, the hot tub is a must, remember to take plenty of beer and wine...! Overall a great week was had by all of the family, the price should not be a factor to not stay here. The setting and view to Chirk Castle is second to none. It needs a lick of paint outside and some of the downspouts need looking at, but this only adds to the charm. Would stay here again, aye my 70th...

We booked this amazing property for all our family and friends to be together for the New Year, we certainly wasn't disappointed, fantastic sized rooms for entertaining and of course the odd party or two!!! The conservatory with log burner (also known as the man cave) was a godsend occupied the men all week. We were greeted by Simon on arrival and a fantastic Christmas tree in the entrance we really did feel like Lord and ladies of the Manor. Simon gave us a guided tour of the property, a notice board contained any contact details for any issues not that we had any on our stay, and a welcome pack. We were then left to unpack and enjoy our hols. We had a mixed group of family and friends with children ranging from age 3 to 24 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves the snooker room, swimming pool and hot tub (personally my favourite) were fantastic. The kitchen facilities and equipment were the more than adequate we cooked a 3 course dinner News Years day for 28 and had enough pots, pans, plates etc....... I would like to thank Simon & Jeanette for a wonderful week away and can't wait to book again. All the best Nic & Joe

We stayed here over August and there was plenty to keep people entertained, with a snooker table and pool. Somewhat quirky decor in places. The pool is shared with other guests in the cabins. The gym could do with some tlc as it felt a bit run down. I agree with some of the other comments about getting some catering sized pans as when feeding 26 it could be tricky. All in all, it suited our large group.

Very spacious there was 23 of us and it was plenty big enough. The facilities re very good, owners very helpful the local area stunning. Chirk castle well worth a visit, stunning gardens. The poachers a marstons pub a mile or so on the canal great value for money. Would have happily given a 5 if the lovely kitchen had a larger oven. I would go back.

Had an excellent stay with friends/family for a special birthday, plenty for the 11 children to do with swimming, tennis courts and huge gardens for them to run around in. BBQ and log fires were a hit with the adults for late nights. Simon & Jeanette (the owners) were on hand for anything we needed and were attentive in getting tv repaired the same day we reported an issue.

The owner was very friendly and accommodating, the house had a fantastic charm to it. Plenty of space for large groups. Lovely hot tub and fantastic views. The in house library was a massive plus with a huge choice of adults and children's books, games, dvds and comfy leather seats. The bedrooms were beautifully decorated and the en suites were to a good standard. Jacuzzi bath was especially ornate looking. The men in the group especially liked the full size snooker table and barely left the room.

The manor house certainly has the 'wow-factor' when you first walk in. The place was very clean and well presented and all of the bedrooms were very inviting. The tennis court, pool, games room, and the swing set were all utilized to the full! We did find the kitchen a little lacking in terms of utensils and the three cookers were all different and had their own quirks, which occasionally caused problems. We were catering for up to 30 people per meal, and to be fair we coped! We had a few problems e.g. toaster broke and dishwasher broke. Both were replaced with new devices extremely quickly! The service from our hosts was peerless. The house and pool had areas which could use a bit of refurbishment/maintenance, but there wasn't anything that could spoil our week! Many thanks.

Rated by Mrs Harrison reviewed on 23rd August 2014

We had a wonderful week in this property with an extended family group of 30 members! This included people from their mid-seventies to five months. When there was a "bad appliance day" the owner came and replaced the toaster and dishwasher immediately! The setting is tranquil and stunning - plenty of parking and the freedom that space gives. We enjoyed the pool, sauna, hot tub and tennis court as well as the front lawn with children's swings and picnic tables and the brick built BBQ and well furnished patio. At times we had a problem with a lot of flies around the hot tub - but it was a prolonged hot summer. The pool was occasionally cloudy looking and we felt a little concerned for it's cleanliness but that may have been base-less. The facilities were shared with the occupants of the log cabins but this didn't cause us too much inconvenience. The property was well furnished although a few of the members complained of uncomfortable beds - mattress toppers could help here. Also if you are going to be catering for 30 people you may want to bring some catering size saucepans a large mixing bowl and electric mixer. (although if you asked for one the owner would probably get one to you within half an hour!) The property is beautiful and old - in the middle of nowhere but 5 minute drive away from the local shop - we had a very good stay and would totally recommend it to a friend.

The house is bright and airy and great for hide and seek! The setting in Bronygarth is truly amazing and we were 5 minutes from Chirk Castle and the Aquaduct. We stayed with a group of friends (15 adults and 6 children). Had a great time. We intended to book for a long weekend but ended up booking for a whole week as the price was no different. This was good as it gave people flexibility on when they arrived and left. We all felt that the price was very reasonable. Facilities were great and the hot tub and pool were particularly popular along with the snooker room. There was a good choice of things to do locally including Chirk Castle, Llangollen Steam Railway and walks along the canal and aqueducts. If you intend to cook for the whole group I would recommend taking a large crock pot type pan. I also took my filter coffee machine and food processor both of which made catering a bit easier. I would definitely return and would recommend it for large group holidays.

The house is totally amazing so beautiful massive rooms with the added bonus of hot tub, pool, gym and games room! The place has such a homely feel and even being at full capacity there was still loads of room and we wasn't under each other's feet. It was for my 40th birthday and we all dressed in 70's fancy dress Saturday night such a scream! Would highly recommend this to anyone. The owner met us there he was a lovely guy who showed us round then left us to enjoy our break although if you needed him he was around or just a phone call away. Lots to do for kids as we'll a wii, library and games plus swings outside which for us was great because the weather was lovely. We have already decided we will be going back next year!!! Perfect weekend getaway.

We recently went to Brookside Manor to celebrate a friends birthday. There were 6 family's and each family had their own spacious family room with a double bed and two singles. There was a family room that wasn't even used and two single bedrooms so plenty of space! The house itself was beautiful and had so many rooms for the kids to play in! The adults set up camp in the conservatory and there was plenty of space for all 12 of us to sit comfortably and it had a lovely log burner in the middle which kept us warm. The kitchen was a great size and the table in their easily sat all 12 children so we were able to keep the dining room clear for our celebrations and once again all 12 adults fitted comfortably in there. The hot tub was lovely with a great view and the pool satisfied the kids need to swim and play around. All in all it was a fantastic weekend and I cannot recommend this place highly enough for a family/friends gathering. We are already planning on when we can go back!

We stayed a large group of several families (12 adults and 12 children). The house was more than big enough for us all and we never got under each others feet. The snooker room was a hit with the men and the pool a hit with the kids. Us ladies loved the hot tub. The rooms are all spacious and 4 have en suites with an additional 3 bathrooms. Can not rate this highly enough. The house is in need of a little TLC which actually makes you feel more at home and comfortable. If I was nit picking...the kitchen could do with upgrading now as the cooker has seen better days etc but this did not affect our stay. We had caterers in on the Saturday night (Hazel Hall Catering) who were outstanding and extremely professional. The food was amazing and they provided an excellent, professional service. The owner was extremely good when we owned up to a breakage. For info, take some logs (fire stuff etc if you can) in the cold weathers as you'll want the fires lit. There wasn't a great deal of basics there (ie; Salt and pepper etc) so you will need to supply. We had an asda delivery delivered to the property which worked out well. Plenty of towels are supplied. Wifi is a bit hit and miss...we couldnt find the docking station. Can be a little tricky to find so read the route instructions carefully. We would definitely go back as just had so much fun there.

The Pool, Hot Tub and tennis courts were used by the young members and the old alike. We held an "Olympic Games" tournament in the pool area which the adults enjoyed as much as the kids. The communal areas, bedrooms and kitchen were perfect for such a large group as ourselves and the conservatory complete with woodburner was a favourite "chill out" space. Thank you to Simon and Jeanette for letting us use their beautiful house and hopefully we will visit again in the near future. Our party of 12, was made up of 12adults, I, 7 year old, 2 toddlers,& 1.babe in arms. This house provides all your needs, to include bedding and towels. Plus it has a wonderful atmosphere. The swimming pool although shared was a great success. We ate out for Sunday lunch at The Boat, Erbistock, highly recommended. We had another meal cooked & serves in house by local caterer Mrs. Hazel Hall, I can really recommend this treat, well worth the money.During our stay we visited, The Llangollen Steam Railway & the horse drawn barge on the canal.Stan`s supermarket just a 10 minute drive has everything..

This is the perfect house for a large group of any age, (in our case 1 to 87!). The accommodation was beautiful and the on site leisure facilities (swimming pool, tennis court, squash court, hot tub - we used them all) meant that there was plenty to keep everyone busy. The snooker tournament also went down a storm! Plenty of outdoor space for the children to play and a lovely conservatory for those who just wanted to read. The surrounding area is beautiful with great views from the hot tub! The walk to Chirk Castle was easy and Llangollen is a 20 min drive away (Thomas the Tank Engine was actually there!!! Kids were delighted). We self catered for some of the week but would recommend the "Poachers"- good food and quite reasonable. The owners also left the numbers of pizza / takeaway delivery places if you don't fancy cooking at all. Asda also deliver - very handy for stocking the beer fridge, also very handy, in snooker room. Good value for money if you have a large enough group and even the journey home didn't take that long! All in all, a great place for a "staycation".

Property was fantastic for a big group. Lots of space, rooms big enough for families and facilities endless. Owners couldn't do enough for us and made the stay even more enjoyable. Have stayed in many big houses and this is one of the best.

The house and facilities are absolutely amazing. We basically didn't leave the house because there was so much to do. The owners were very helpful whenever we had any issues and sorted everything out very quickly.

I stayed here with 15 family members and friends with PLENTY of space. We were all amazed by the fabulous house and the fantastic location. Every guest was more than happy with their fabulous bedrooms and living space. The hot tub was just divine and piping hot with a spectacular view. The house is so big that at one point we actually thought we had lost our 'lady with a baby' group member, however she was hidden in bubbles in the jacuzzi corner bath reading her book! Everything you could possibly need is provided. We had such a wonderful time. I can not recommend the house highly enough to big groups - You wil LOVE it!!

We stayed here 31st may to 7th June 2013, we celebrated my husbands 40th with family & friends starting with just adults on the fri & sat then the kids were picked up on the Sunday, this house went down really well with everyone who stayed, the views from the hot tub were fantastic & was a great hit with the adults while the kids loved the pool & playing tennis, a couple of fitness fanatics used the gym, but the squash courts we never used. The full size snooker table was also a great hit with the lads! We had fantastic weather that week so sat outside on the decking area for most of the day, (they could do with another set of table & chairs on there, we did request that the decking be made more secure as a couple of planks were loose). The evenings were spent mainly in the lovely conservatory as there is plenty of seating in there! Kids spent a lot of time in the library room playing games (which there is plenty to choose from). Couldn't fault any bedrooms or bathrooms especially the master bedroom, the kitchen is well equipped, there was also plenty of fridges for the cold drinks to be stored (oh & food) with 2 fridges in the main kitchen (1 being a big American fridge freezer) 1 in the annexe kitchen & a beer fridge in the snooker room, the house was very clean & tidy with bathrooms supplied with soap & toilet rolls & kitchen supplied with washing up liquid, dishwasher detergent, plenty of tea towels & even kitchen roll. The area has some lovely walks with great views. We walked to The Poachers Pocket a couple of times also we would recommend going to The Boat Inn at Erbistock this is in a dead end road in a great setting with great food! All in all its a great place & would highly recommend & definitely stay here again. Simon & Jeanette the owners who live nearby are very friendly & welcoming. Really hate to moan but We just have 1 negative, The wifi (which actually wasn't working when we were there) should be included in the price of the house not at an extra charge of £20.

This is a huge house 10 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms with a hot tub. Went there for a weekend with 13 members of my family and some friends to celebrate 2 birthdays. Spotless house, beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms. The owners Simon and Jeanette were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful setting the house has everything you could need. Large rooms and lots of space for a large gathering.

What a fantastic weekend. An absolutely magnificent house, the hot tub was amazing and one of the best weekends away I have ever had. Simon and Jeanette the proprieters are such lovely welcoming people. We are already looking to book again. Fantastic venue for a large party of people everything you could possibly want and need.

We came here as a group of 15 ladies to celebrate a couple of birthdays. It was easy to find and the house is just as lovely as the pictures show it to be. The house is very big but warm and inviting, with nice comfortable beds and lots of bathrooms to choose from. The owners couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. There was an annual village party held on the lawn during our stay which we attended; we were made to feel very welcome and had a really great evening. I would highly recommend for large groups of family and friends and we are already looking at re-booking for next year.

We enjoyed having lots of space to spread out in, different rooms to sit in. The dining space was ideal for a large group. Having a wood-burning stove made the conservatory very cosy, and when the sun came out we enjoyed sitting in the garden. The rooms were very comfortable, the kitchen was well-equipped.
