The location was remote but near enough to many lovely places to visit. The view from the cottage was breathtaking and the wildlife was a real bonus.

The property was ideal for our needs. A rural setting with fantastic views to enjoy a weekend of exploring the villages and walking the hills.

I am the owner of this cottage and just need to make any potential guests aware that we do not have wifi in the cottage and mobile phone signals can be a bit "hit and miss". I am not sure how we have wifi listed on Trip Advisor as we don't advertise internet access on the Sykes Cottages website and we would hate anyone to be disappointed. Part of our appeal is the peace and quiet of our location and the ability to be virtually non- contactable! Come and enjoy the silence and get away from the rat race.

In a fantastic location with views you would never tire of. Excellent knowledgeable hosts and lots to see and do all within an easy cars drive. Would definitely return.

We had a lovely few days at Curlew Cottage - wish we could have stayed for longer! We loved the location of the cottage - beautiful views, very quiet and a good base for visiting different parts of the Peak District. The cottage itself was perfect - spacious, beautifully appointed, comfortable and warm. We couldn't have asked for more and have recommended it to family and friends already!

In spite of bad weather we had an excellent holiday. The owners were very nice and we were very surprised and pleased with the cheese and wine ,tea, coffee and milk when we arrived.

Lovely cottage with very welcoming, generous and extremely helpful owners. Lots of walks along the wonderful valleys of the Southern Peak District nearby, combined with staying in a cosy cottage a bit higher up on the moorland. Best of both worlds.

Friendly welcome from the owner, the attention to detail in the cottage presentation and the welcome pack of cheese crackers and milk was a nice touch. The location of the cottage and its peaceful situation and wonderful scenery from the windows and decking.

Curlew Cottage exceeded our expectations in almost every aspect. It was extremely well equipped in the kitchen area, with even tea, coffee, milk etc supplied. Complete comfort in the lounge area and bedroom. The bathroom was also more than adequate. To add to all this the views that this cottage's location gives and its total sense of tranquility are hard to beat.Top marks to the owners!

Great location, Curlew Cottage was well equipped with fantastic views all around. Enjoyed the local village pubs and tea shops, biking trails and walking, also made good use of National Trust membership.

Lovely cottage clean and comfortable, well equipped with everything you need. Warm friendly greeting from the family. Good centre for touring the Peak District. Lovely pubs serving delicious food a short drive away. Several cycle trails on disused railway lines for safe cycling. To top it all we had beautiful weather during our stay an extra bonus.

Beautiful setting for a relaxing holiday in a peaceful part of the Peak District. Plenty of places to visit not too far away, so a good base for a holiday or short break. Friendly owners that were there if you needed them.

Rated by Mrs Butterfield reviewed on 29th June 2014

The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed. Wonderful hosts who were helpful and responsive when needed. There was so much we would have liked to do in the area, just not enough time for all that was available. We hope to be able to return to the area and to Curlew cottage. Just perfect!
