The warmest of welcomes. Gorgeous cottage in a tranquil and secluded location. 15-20 mins from anywhere in terms of beaches. Lovely gardens and grounds. Wonderful hosts. No hesitation whatsoever giving this the strongest of recommendations. We’ve already rebooked!

Absolutely top notch. Very friendly and helpful yet not overly on the scene. Great facilities with lots of little extra touches. It was a holiday for our 40th Anniversary and Fiona had lit a fire for us left a welcome hamper and even put rose petals on the bed. We would defiantly recommend the cottage and the owners without hesitation.

I could not recommend this cottage enough. This cottage is perfect for a romantic cosy get away. I loved every minute of our stay and Angelsey is a beautiful place to go and explore. The fire is amazing, especially on a dark cold night. It was lovely to meet Fiona & Peter, they are both wonderful hosts and they made this trip feel like going from home to home. The hamper and the fire lit on arival was lovely to come in to. The bed is so comfortable and everything was prestine. We will definitely be coming back again in the future! Xx

Just spent a week at Carreg Rhys cottage. We have had a perfect time. The cottage is gorgeous and so romantic, and the hot tub makes the most perfect end to your day. Fiona and Pete are the most friendly host and can’t do enough for you. (If I’m honest wish I lived closer, I think myself and Fiona could become bestie’s ❤️) The location is perfect and is central for lots of things , ie beaches, tourist attractions and restaurants. Can’t wait to go back again. Highly recommend. ❤️❤️❤️

We stayed in this cottage for our honeymoon and we were not disappointed. I don't know where to start in some ways. My new husband has spoken with Fiona the owner and when we arrived she had put us a banner up, lit the fire, candles, rose petals and got us a box of treats and bubbly. This was the most wonderful touch and honestly made it so personal and quaint. Thank you Fiona for taking the time to do that for us. Nothing seems to much trouble for them, they are they there if you need them but they leave you alone to relax and enjoy your break. Pete even told us to turn the music up and enjoy the hot tub and not worry. The cottage was impeccably clean with all the essentials you would need for a holiday away. I often find there's lots of utensils you can never find on holiday but Fiona has thought of everything, even down to things like an extension to help with the hairdryer etc. The bed was very comfortable we both slept well. It just has such a romantic peaceful feel about it. The roll top bath was a perfect addition! So relaxing and romantic. If your after some rest and relaxation, or a base to explore as a couple look no further. Sitting with the roaring log burner after exploring Is a feeling you can't beat. Drinking bubbly and cosying up. We used the wi find and managed most of the time to watch a firestick with it to watch films. Although there are two TVs in the cottage both with a dvd player. The cottage is dog friendly Nero loved it. However you cannot tell dogs stay, it is still very clean and smells lovely on arrival. Dogs that do stay sleep downstairs. I couldn't stop for the first two days expressing to my husband how perfect this cottage is so I couldn't possible write it all in a review. I couldn't find any faults. We went in the hot tub two very chilly November evenings but it was lovely. We didn't feel overlooked in the slightest. The couple make it what it is, the attention to detail of making it a home from home has worked and it's a hidden gem. Set down rural lanes but still only less than 10 mins drive to the shop. You wouldn't ever regret visiting here for a cosy time away. Thank you for the perfect honeymoon and your personal touches that made it so memorable. We will 100% return again.

Fiona & Peter are brilliant hosts, nothing is to much trouble. Tho cottage is lovely & everything on the island is within 15 to 40 minutes drive away. Beaches & coastal walks to die for. Fish & chips on Rhosnigr beach watching the sunset was lovely. The hot tub is so relaxing after a long coast walk. Thank you so much,we will be back! David & Michelle X.

A great little cottage with all amenities, set in rural Anglesey. You get what it says on the tin! So quiet and peaceful. We needed a break from it all and that is what we got, fabulous. Only five minutes drive to the town or the beach. Some good restaurants close by as well. Fiona and Pete were great hosts who could not do enough for us. I think we can call them good friends now. And, to cap it all, we had the most fantastic weather! Well worth a visit. Thank you for a brilliant week. (Love to Lola).

This was our 6th Sykes rental and 2nd time we’ve been to Carreg Rhys, this time returning for our honeymoon. The owner Fiona had laid on a beautiful welcome hamper and even decorated the cottage with a tasteful hessian “Just Married” banner, a liberal scattering of red rose petals, fresh flowers and a single rose on the bed. As ever here, the welcome from Fiona and Peter was warm and friendly and they obviously put a lot of effort into both running and maintaining the cottage. The hot tub isn’t over chlorinated like some and they do check it regularly. The welcome from Lola (Tibetan terrier) was as effusive as Fiona and she’s always around and up for a fuss (Lola not Fiona) Her partner in crime (Alfie) is also very friendly and Marley the cat is fairly indifferent at first but does like a fuss. The cottage was clean, well prepared and with a stack of logs and coal ready for the log burner it was just perfect. Fiona did offer to have it lit ready which just typifies her attitude and willingness to get everything just right. Privacy is not an issue even though the cottage is attached to the main house and it’s a beautifully quiet location. There are lots of fantastic beaches around and we’d highly recommend Llanddwyn Island which is about 15 minutes away. For us, this was the perfect honeymoon and it’s a great “get away from it all” break. Whilst we are already have the next years holidays booked I can safely say we will be returning here in the future

Stayed here for 3 nights with little dog Bella. Fiona the owner was so welcoming & prior to arrival kept in contact. The cottage is rural & quiet with amazing views. Such a cosy place with gorgeous furnishings very Laura Ashley style. The log burner was a delight & the hot tub. Beware of the washed up palm oil on newnorough beach. Our dig ate some & we had a worrying 24hrs. Keep dogs close if not on the lead. I would recommend carreg rhys for a romantic getaway, walking holiday & day tripping. Beaumaris is worth a visit & newnorough beach accessing from newborough forest. It's £4 to park all day. Thank you for a lovely stay & all the extras including snacks in picnic basket, fluffy dressing gowns, fleece bedding & wood for the fire.

This is the second time that we've stayed at Carreg Rhys, both times have been fabulous. Fiona & Peter (the owners) are so welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. We really loved the new fluffy dressing gowns - a must when you get out of the hot tub on a cold October night! For anyone looking to find a romantic retreat & also a base in a great location to explore Angelsey- look no further. Not only is the cottage warm & cosy with the log burner, more spacious than you'd think & great value, it really is a pet friendly place to stay. We look forward to our next stay xx

This was our first time we have stopped in a cottage with our 1 year old Basset Hound Eddie. We have had an absolutely fantastic week! Fiona and Pete are absolutely amazing! We read all the reviews before hand, so we were sure we were going somewhere lovely and it was! Their attention to detail is impeccable! We was met by Pete and walked into the cottage with candles lit, a lovely welcome hamper and petals on the bed and in the bath! The cottage is decorated and furnished finely; very sumptuous and cosy! Fiona then came to say hello, once she had greeted her other guests at their sister cottage. Soon as we met Fiona and Pete it was like we had known them for years!!! Throughout the week Fiona and Pete were there when we wanted a chat and if we needed helping out about where to go on our daytime adventures (I'm sure they will remember pizza gate! Private joke!). We were really sad to leave, but will be sure to be returning in the near future!!! We have not only had a lovely time enjoying the many beaches and sights of Anglesey and Wales but have made two lovely friends! See you soon!!! X x x x

My partner and I booked Carreg Ryhs for an early January stay to beat the winter blues. We have stayed before and knew what to expect - a relaxing and cosy break. We took our dog again who always has such a big fuss made of her by the owners Fiona and Pete. Their dogs had just had a litter of puppies so also had some much needed pet therapy. There was a problem with the hot tub so the owners offered to let us stay at Bwthyn Megan as the previous guests had just vacated. This is the sister cottage just up the road which also had tub. Very impressed with both cottages which are finished to a high standard. Very Laura Ashley. Fiona and Pete couldn't do enough for us and it was lovely to meet them again. They really do take pride in their work. Arriving to a roaring log fire is a nice touch and provides a lovely welcome. Sad to be home now, we will be returning.

We enjoy cottage Holidays and had many but this is the best we have had. Fiona and Peter greeted us as if we were great friends, and soon were. Such a warm welcome and such a cosy retreat. Warm wood burning stove comfortable bed and even a welcome hamper to great us. The views are lovely with Snowdonia in the near distance. There is a hot tub right outside the door but tucked away in a secluded private corner. Nothing nicer to sit out in the hot tub with a tumbler of wine in good or wild weather then hop out and into a warm cottage with a blazing log fire. Dogs are welcomed with plenty of grounds for them to use. Although Carreg Rhys is secluded shops and supermarkets are only a few miles away as are the beaches and Newborough Forest. Plenty to see and do if you want to roam further afield, Ideal for bird watching once a favourite haunt of C.F.Tunnicliffe probably our best remembered bird artist.

Wow, what can I say? Fresh flowers, roaring fire (we arrived on the only evening of the summer when there was a storm raging!), lit candles, welcome hamper full of goodies, freshly laundered Oscar de La Renta robes; all waiting for us when we arrived, alongside the gorgeous, ultra energetic Fiona. Fiona and Peter are so friendly and personable you feel you have returned to see old friends, but they don't intrude - just check you have everything you need to ensure you completely enjoy your stay and relax! I was amazed by Fiona's ability to remember things I had mentioned and to refer to them and check you were ok (we had booked the cottage as our son was on his first big trip away without us, to Thailand and Fiona was asking how we were and what he was up to?) Sooooo nice and sooooo thoughtful. She even offered to collect us from the local pub one evening when she bumped into us on a quiet lane near to the cottage! The location of the cottage is ultra peaceful - a haven of tranquillity with only the odd moo of a cow to interrupt quiet contemplation as your worries subside as you sit in the hot tub. I now know why the village is called Paradwys (paradise!) The hot tub is fantastic and completely secluded. Plastic glasses are provided to ensure there are no nasty accidents as you enjoy a glass or three!! The cottage is really well equipped, with everything you could possibly need. The décor is really tasteful and bed and furniture very comfortable. There is even a walk in wardrobe! Nothing is too much trouble - Fiona lent my husband her hand held Dyson to hoover dog hairs out of our car after seeing him using the vac belonging to the cottage! One well behaved dog is welcome (we have a daft Labrador, who came with us) but I was really pleased that they are only allowed downstairs as I am an asthma sufferer and tend to be a bit susceptible when I sleep. The Wifi was fantastic. Despite wanting to unwind and relax from the stresses and strains I was desperate to hear from our son in Thailand. We communicated on WhatsApp without issue and I was able to look at photo's he had posted online within seconds. Anglesey is truly beautiful and we don't think we could have had a better base from which to explore it. Thank you Fiona and Peter for a truly lovely week and we wish you every success xx.

Right from the moment we arrived we knew we were going to enjoy our stay at Carreg Rhys . We were given such a wonderful warm welcome from Fiona and Peter, two of the nicest owners we have ever met. They are very busy working people but they always found time to make us feel welcome and help with any questions. The cottage is definitely one of the best we have stayed in. There was a wonderful welcome hamper filled with treats and luxuries. Everything was clean and beautifully decorated with lots of homely touches, even vases of fresh flowers. There was a well equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and washing machine, a beautiful bathroom with a huge roll top bath and plenty of hot water. The bedroom was light and airy with a very comfortable king size bed and lots of storage space for our clothes. There was even a flat screen television in the bedroom. This was also our first holiday cottage with a hot tub in the private garden – dressing gowns provided. And what a huge bonus to have a good wi-fi connection. The cottage is in a quiet location with beautiful views from all the windows, however it is within easy reach of the A55 and several large supermarkets for easy shopping. The village of Malltraeth was within walking distance, (or a quick drive) with an excellent village shop, which not only sold all the basics but also very good fish and chips! There was also a very friendly pub. The location was perfect for exploring Anglesey with many incredibly beautiful places to visit within a few miles of the cottage. A perfect place for couples, especially dog owners as there are so many good places to walk. Pets are made very welcome and the family have their own very friendly dogs and cat. This was a truly five star holiday cottage – we will definitely like to return.

A comfortable, homely cottage with the added bonus of being dog friendly and a terrific hot-tub to use after walks along Anglesey's stunning coastal path. The cottage has everything to make your stay a great one, a well appointed kitchen, a homely log burner and other little details that make it welcoming, not forgetting the thoughtful welcome basket of treats. A warm welcome from Fiona helped to us to quickly settle in. The cottage is a great base to explore Anglesey and North Wales. Aware that the cottage was in a rural location, we set off early to walk and explore, then had some terrific lunches in great locations such as Rhosneigr, Red Wharf Bay and Treaddur Bay. So many pubs welcome dogs and walkers with muddy boots. Returning to the cottage to settle in for the evening for wine (would highly recommend the wine shop on the hight street in Conwy), cheese and pate before relaxing in the tub. A great way to unwind from the stresses of everyday life.

Rated by Miss Crossley reviewed on 10th January 2016

Pet friendly, homely little cottage with fab hot tub. Around 3 mile drive down single track lane with hair pin bends, not for the faint hearted, we really only wanted to brave this once a day, luckily never had to reverse back for oncoming cars, not good for nervous drivers. We ordered a tesco food delivery & even the driver ( who was local to Anglesey) got lost/couldn't find us. There is really nowhere at all to walk from the cottage, pub/shop/chippy/beach all too far. Maltraeth (local village, but still too far to walk) is a bit dead, nothing there, very residential, in fact, most of this side of Anglesey is very residential, limited pubs/restaurants/shops/anything. Newborough forest/beach & island is nice on a sunny day, £4 to park, we parked in Newborough village once & walked through the forest, but, be warned, you can get lost so easily in this massive forest as we did & ended up walking for about ten miles!. Caernarfon castle & town nice day out. Snowdon/Llanberris great day out. South stack, great walks. Cottage itself is very quaint, nice log burner, dining area but very dark downstairs, left the lamps on even during the day. There are no shelves in the fridge so milk often spilled from lying parallel & had to finish the Cava (no hardship) as no upright storage once the bottle is open. NB, there was no freezer compartment in the fridge. There is an eight place dishwasher but still needed to wash up as not enough plates/cutlery really to fill it & we don't particularly like to run an half-empty dishwasher. There were nice touches like snuggly, warm robes, plenty of towels, scented candles & tealights, even a nice hamper ic milk, cake, biscuits, muffins, bath creme, wine, crisps. There is enough logs/kindling/coal for a couple of nights, The hot tub is lovely & chillaxing after long walks/days out. Lovely bedroom, king size bed, comfortable/good nights sleep. Nice roll top bath but not able to shower really as no shower curtain. Couldn't get any wifi, I did knock on for help at the main house, but no reply, also a bit hit & miss getting a 4g or phone signal in this rural area, in fact, poor signal on most of the island for O2 network. Nice to be able to take our well behaved dog, made very welcome by the owners but you won't see much of them as they are at work.

We had a very relaxing time at Carreg Rhys. This was greatly enhanced by the warm welcome we received from the owners, nothing was too much for them. The generous welcome basket and roaring log fire made a great start to the holiday. The cottage was lovely with a large lounge with dining area overlooking view of garden, kitchen with all amenities you could ask for, large bedroom with a very comfortable king size bed and large bathroom with lovely bath and heated towel rail. There are 2 TVs in the cottage and games, DVDs are provided just in the case the weather is not so good. The views from the cottage grounds were stunning and you had full use of the grounds, great for the exercising the dog. The hot tub is a large one, which is great for a couple as there is plenty of room for both of you to lie in there, relax completely and use heat/jets as you wish. The cottage was within easy reach of many lovely places to visit on Anglesey and less than a hour from Llandudno and Snowdonia. We would definitely stay here again the next time we are in the area.

A hidden gem and feel that if you want a romantic, relaxing break come here. We were very sad to leave and vowed to return. Beautiful people, beautiful place and a beautiful holiday. Thank you x

We were greated in person by Pete & Fiona Kelly. They were very warm and welcoming. We arrived late afternoon on a rainy cold day and they had lit the log burner for us, so the cottage was warm and cosy. I had spoken with Fiona before we arrived and she knew it was a much needed romantic break. There were fresh rose petals scattered on the table, a wonderful welcome basket and they fussed our little Westie, Harvey. The cottage had everything needed and was so homely. The hot tub was fabulous and dressing gowns were provided too! Fiona & Pete were very knowledgeable about the area and recommended places to visit and to eat out.Their children were very polite and friendly. Our dog even found a friend in their dog, Alfie! The grounds and gardens are beautiful and a real sun trap. It is quiet and secluded - paradise. The perfect escape from our busy life at home. We will be back.... Nick & Nicki Oliver

From the moment we arrived our hosts showed us around and made us feel right at home. Their attention to detail was exceptional and everything we could have needed was there, also included was an excellent Welcome Pack, which was a pleasant surprise and something that we have never had with any cottage rented previously. The cottage was perfect and the peace and quiet made for a relaxed holiday, also the hot tub was brilliant. I am already recommending it to friends and family and we will be looking at booking again in the future. This was a great holiday.

Superb relaxing location, property and welcoming hosts. The hot tub, which was a key reason originally for selecting this property, made the stay even more enjoyable, even on a wet and windy weekend!

Just returned from a weeks break at Carreg Rhys and I can't rate this little place highly enough, from the pre arrival call to see if we would like a fire lighting for our arrival to the greeting by the owner - Fiona when we got there it felt like seeing someone we'd known for ages! The welcome hamper, the furnishings, the Xmas decorations, log burner and of course the hot tub we were just taken a back by how this felt like home from the moment we walked through the door. They made our dog feel part of the holiday as well with a chew treat in the hamper as well as additional dog bowls for us to use! Just lovely we didn't feel like having a dog with us was a pain for them in anyway and their little dog Alfie put a spring in our oap lab's walk!! Peter and Fiona are the perfect hosts and are so knowledgeable about Anglesey and the surrounding areas that they aren't short of advice and tips for amazing places to go. All in all a fantastic place, fantastic hospitable owners who can't do enough for you and we certainly can't wait to return! Highly recommended!

Perfect location in a quiet rural setting yet still only a few minutes drive to a fantastic beach and breathtaking coastline. Accomodation finished to a very high standard and the owners couldn't have been more welcoming. We have been on many cottage holidays but this one certainly comes close to being the best.

Wow! The cottage exceeded our expectations and took us by surprise. Friendly owners made the holiday an even greater experience. We arrived to a warm cottage as the owners had lit a fire for us, the hot tub had been cleaned and was ready for use. If you are after a week away to relax or even go off walking in Snowdonia National Park I cant recommend or rate this place highly enough. We are already planning our next trip.

We arrived to a very warm welcome from our hosts, Mr and Mrs Kelly. The welcome pack was a really nice surprise. The cottage was exceptionally well equipped and extremely comfortable and set in a beautiful, peaceful location with lovely views of the surrounding countryside, within easy reach of local amenities and attractions. The hot tub was just what we needed after walking up and down Snowdon! We will return.
