YEW TREE COTTAGE hot tub, four poster bed in Coniston Ref 25868

Reviews

My wife and I wanted to get away for Xmas with the dog for wine, walks and relaxing. We got everything we wanted from this cottage. The spec is very high. Beautifully finished and looks great. The cottage is located at the end of a country road which makes it even more idillic. There's no phone signal at the cottage (which we loved!) but whenever you go on walks and gain a little height you can achieve 4G signal. Coniston Water is a pleasant stroll away. We walked to Sunny Bank Jetty on Coniston water. It was peaceful and beautiful. Mid week we took a break from walking and had a tourist day around Lake Windermere which was only 40 mins drive a way. We took a boat tour of the lake (with the dog who went for free) for £10 each and lasted 70 mins. Well worth it. The hot tub is deep and always hot! It's in a secluded corner so the wind doesn't really hit you. However the the comparison between the cold air and the 40 degree hot tub is lovely. Inside the cottage you'll find everything you'll need to cook. I cooked a Christmas dinner for two, and there was plenty of pots and pans etc. There's also wine glasses, champagne flutes, long and short tumblers and tea and coffee cups. The oven is great and was immaculately clean. There was wood available for the log burner and even though the cottage was not cold (even without the underfloor heating it wasn't cold, but lovely to wake up to), the sound of the cracklings logs made the experience even nicer. The bathroom was clean and modern with plenty of towels and his and hers robes for the hot tub. The bath also has jets for bubbles in it however we always opted for the outdoor version! The shower is large, and clean with a huge shower head that makes you never want to get out! We ventured down to the local pub The Wilsons Arms a few times. The staff and locals are very friendly and the food was great. We really cannot fault the cottage. We had a great week and will most likely book for next Christmas too.

Yew Tree Cottage was amazing, had everything we needed. Location is great, loved being so remote. The hot tub was a lovely way to relax after long days out walking. Owners very helpful. Made our honeymoon feel special and we were even blessed with glorious sunshine for most the week. We will definitely be returning!

We loved this beautiful little hideaway. It was lovely and clean and in the most peaceful setting. The hot tub was great after a long days walk.

Yew Tree Cottage is by far the BEST place we have ever stayed in. We loved the location; secluded, peaceful and just idyllic. It was a perfect get away from civilisation and work. Having no mobile phone signal or wifi was just what we needed to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary. This place is amazing, just magnificent. We are already looking at coming back. The photos do not do this beautiful cottage justice. The owners have done a grand job on renovations and will do anything to help make your stay as perfect as possible. What a find. Thank you.

Yew Tree was a wonderful cottage, and in an good area to go and relax in. The cottage was done to a very high standard. Hot tub is a great feature along with the log burner in the living area. Great location being close to Coniston lake. Beautiful part of the Lake District.

This is hands down the best cottage we have stayed at with excellent facilities. Some very nice touches in the cottage and very comfortable. We will definitely be back.

This cottage was a great find. It looked lovely from the pictures but they didn't do it justice. Everything about the cottage was of a high specification and there were lots of lovely touches that enhanced our stay. The bathroom was fantastic and the dressing gowns were much appreciated when braving the cold evening air on the way to the hot tub. This was just fabulous and very welcome after a long day on the hills. The sound system and 3D tv were great as the weather is notoriously unpredictable in this area!! The cottage is situated down a 2 mile narrow drive - great to run or cycle along. Just be warned though, don't expect a phone or internet signal at all. This certainly didn't bother us but might be a concern for some. Torver itself is very quiet but we could certainly recommend the local pub - where we ate twice. The food and the service at Wilson's was of a high standard too and we didn't feel the need to try anywhere else. Coniston has lots of tea shops where you can use the WIFI if you are desperate and the walk along the lake front from Torver to Coniston is very scenic and not overcrowded like many parts of the 'lakes' in the summer. All in all this was a wonderful cottage and I would hope that we will return in the future as we still have many Wainwright's Peaks to conquer!

My husband and I travelled to the Lake District for the very first time in June and after a long journey we were delighted when we arrived at this lovely cottage..Having been renovated only 2 years ago everything was in pristine condition with quality furnishings it was a wow when walking through the door. We loved the location quite remote but only 2 miles down a single track to the small village of Torver there is nothing much in Torver apart from 2 pubs and a small deli, further down the road is Coniston with the lake where you can take a boat trip around the lake. Torver itself is quite central with Ambleside, Grasmere, Windermere etc not a long drive away. The cottage itself is set among acres of fell land and you have sheep as your neighbours. It's nice to walk around but keep dogs on a lead as we nearly lost ours as he went off to chase the sheep. There is no need to take cleaning stuff as it was all provided as well as dressing gowns and a hairdryer all stuff that I had taken. The hot tub at the cottage was a real bonus and lovely for a soak in the evening after a long day walking. There is also a whirlpool bath and a rainfall shower. There is no phone signal or wifi but even though I like to be connected it wasn't a huge problem phone signals were poor all over the lakes on O2 to be honest. We loved the lakes and already booked for next year in the same area but a bigger cottage as we are going with family next year.

A truly magical place to stay, we couldn't have picked better, it was peaceful and tranquil yet easy to get to various places in the Lakes. Cannot wait to return to the Lakes, it was our first visit, but certainly won't be our last.

Everything was perfect, attention was paid to every detail, cannot say anything bad at all, except I didn't want to come home.

Rated by Mrs Fallon reviewed on 7th June 2015

My husband and I stayed at Yew Tree cottage for 7 days commencing 27 March to celebrate my early retirement. What a fantastic cottage. Attention to detail is "first class" and the photographs do not emphasise how large the cottage is. The location is perfect, nice and quiet with terrific views over the countryside. It was lambing season and each morning it was lovely to see sheep with newly born babies in nearby fields. The furnishings are superb and very comfortable. Extras like the 3D TV and spa bath were very much appreciated, as was the lovely, relaxing hot tub. I thoroughly recommend this accommodation.

An absolutely fabulous property finished off to a high standard. Had great walks from the door for the dog, the bed was comfortable, loved the slate finish on the bathroom & the underfloor heating was great. The wood burner was very cosy, and the oven was a great gadget. The owners have really spent time with the décor. I loved the no signal & WiFi, you get time away from the hustle & bustle and appreciate the views & location. The perfect romantic retreat for couples deserving of the star rating. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Rated by Miss Strickley reviewed on 4th March 2015

Yew Tree Cottage was just perfect and the location was amazing. Well-equipped and very comfortable - the underfloor heating was great! We had booked because of the hot tub and this was the icing on the cake - just what was needed after a day's walking.

Rated by Mrs Edwards reviewed on 7th February 2015

The cottage was fabulous. We loved the luxury extras of the hot tub, whirlpool bath and log fire. It made my partners 30th birthday very special. The owners were very friendly and helpful.

Rated by Miss Lewis reviewed on 28th January 2015

Myself and my partner have just spent 3 nights here to celebrate his 30th birthday and I honestly wish we could have stayed longer. The cottage location is fantastic. Out of the way enough to feel secluded and cosy but not too far from the village of Coniston if supplies are needed. The cottage itself was so luxurious and beautifully furnished. I particularly loved the log fire, , four poster bed and fantastic enquire bathroom with whirlpool bath. We had a wonderful stay and feel totally refreshed. I will definitely be booking again and this time for a longer stay!

A fab cottage - great for a honeymoon. Luxurious inside and out and the hot tub was a real bonus. Ten out of ten all round. Great base for the area.

Rated by Mrs Henley-durcan reviewed on 18th January 2015

Fantastic. Spent a fortnight wrapped in luxury on our honeymoon. Cottage is lovely and the hot tub is fab. A secluded retreat amongst the hills but close enough to civilisation if needed. No wifi or mobile reception at the cottage which was a plus as hubby is self employed and gets so many calls day and night - at bottom of 2 mile lane reception is good.though to make calls out if needed. Large fridge freezer so take groceries in with you if you plan to self cater. We managed to fill the freezer with everything we took and munched our way through it only had to buy bread and milk locally. Supermarkets are scarce so be sure to buy before getting to the area. We didn't want to leave the cottage. A lovely retreat for twwo.

The quality of the fittings and furnishings of the cottage were to an exceptionally high standard, probably the best we've visited. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom superb, kitchen, lounge, furniture all of very high quality. Extras like 3D TV, quality iPod dock, and of course the hot tub, brilliant. The cleaning of the cottage was also excellent, everything was spotless.

Rated by Mr Gumbrell reviewed on 2nd June 2014

I chose this cottage because we wanted peace and quiet - and that is what we got ! What we weren't prepared for was the quality and space in what seemed on booking to be a small venue. With high ceilings and great choice in decor, the place was a real pleasure to stay in and we didn't want to leave. Great for couples ! We took our dog and went on loads of walks and spent a lot of time chilling in the hot tub ;) ... So good for the soul. I have recommended this place to many of my friends. Thanks !

A fabulous cottage for a wonderful get away from it all week. The surroundings were splendid and the owners were very helpful. The hot tub was very welcome after a day's outing but we were happy not to go far but just to enjoy the splendid location. Our dog had a great time as he was free to roam.

Rated by Mrs Pryar reviewed on 17th May 2014

A very quiet and private location. Helpful and friendly owners. Fantastic old cottage which has been upgraded meticulously on the inside to include all mod cons. The hot tub was an amazing luxury after a hard days mountain biking and walking on the fells! We have already pre booked for next year we were so impressed.

Rated by Mrs Williams reviewed on 15th April 2014

Yew Tree Cottage exceeded our expectations in a number of ways. The finish throughout the cottage gave it a 5 star feel, the pictures really don't do it justice! The little extras in the cottage also make a big difference, such as logs for the log burner, complimentary Blu-Ray 3D DVDs with 3D glasses. Our favourite was a lovely thick dressing gown each which helped when jumping out of the jacuzzi into the cold air! We absolutely loved every minute of our stay and we will definitely be returning for a second visit!

Rated by Mrs Clews reviewed on 28th March 2014

The cottage was a real touch of luxury in beautiful, tranquil surroundings. The owners were friendly and helpful beyond expectation. We particularly enjoyed the cosy underfloor heating, log burner and private hot tub; it was perfect for the cold winter nights during our stay. We have already recommended the cottage to friends and family, but not before making sure we got our next visit booked in first!

Rated by Miss Polmear reviewed on 11th February 2014

This is a beautifully appointed, luxury cottage set off-the-beaten-track in the rugged Cumbrian landscape. The accommodation itself is spacious and of excellent quality; we particularly enjoyed the cosy underfloor heating, wood burner, luxury bathroom, modern kitchen and, of course, the amazing private hot tub. Although we'd seen pictures before we arrived, we were still surprised at how lovely it was and at the attention to detail. The owners could not have done more to help us, especially when a national grid fault meant the whole area suffered a power cut! We were so impressed that we've already booked another stay, and we only returned home yesterday. The private hot tub and luxury touches really set this cottage aside from others. Amazingly it is also dog-friendly, so could be the perfect base for a walking holiday with a canine companion. We cannot wait to return!

Rated by SneaksyWhippet reviewed on 11th February 2014

Great surroundings, off the beaten track, excellent welcome and help throughout our stay. Great nights spent in front of the log fire and in the amazing hot tub. Great local pub which serves excellent food. Already trying to plan for a return visit.

Everything was absolutely fabulous. Extremely relaxing and so lovely. We all had a great time including our dogs Molly & Libby. The cottage has everything you require and more. The hot tub is an added bonus! The wood burner is heaven when you have been out walking. Absolutely loved being off the beaten track as there wasn't anything we missed. We will definitely be going back, can't wait!

Rated by Mrs Rogan reviewed on 30th January 2014

This cottage was equipped and decorated to a high standard. It was very comfortable and contrasted well with the isolation of it, which we also loved. The main room was warm - we lit the fire once but didn't really need it - and the whole place had a good feel about it. A hot tub is always a plus and we thoroughly appreciated that after each day's walking. We will definitely consider booking again - and at this time of year.

Truly fantastic break away, the lodge was immaculate and spotlessly clean and far better than the photos gave it justice! Set in beautiful settings, this traditional lodge had all the mod cons and more. It was warm and cosy, lovely luxuries of a hot tub, log burner and four poster bed. The owner was fantastic, he gave us a guided tour on arrival, supplied us with some 3D glasses and Blu Ray DVDs as an extra.. Fantastic break away highly recommended.
