A superb, stone-built, Grade II listed detached cottage, in open countryside in the hamlet of Millthorpe, 5 miles from Baslow. Converted from a stable block, most of the accommodation is set over the first floor, including the split-level living room with cruck beams, a cosy sitting area and a games area with a bar billiard table. The accommodation offers exposed stonework and original beams, plus private use of a hot tub and sauna. The lovely courtyard garden provides fantastic views, whilst within walking distance is an award-winning pub, serving real ales and fabulous food. Within reach of the many walks and attractions of the area, this is an ideal base to get away from it all and enjoy the magnificent Peak District.

On the edge of the Peak District National Park between Bakewell and Sheffield is the hamlet of Millthorpe with splendid views of the Cordwell Valley. The hamlet is set among rolling countryside and the neighbouring villages are made up of traditional old houses and buildings. The area has a number of hostelries and restaurants waiting to be discovered and Hathersage is close by with more in the way of amenities. In the summer there is an outdoor pool, the churchyard is said to be the burial place of Little John, and Charlotte Bronte is thought to have got her inspiration for Jane Eyre after she had visited friends in Hathersage, so despite its small size, Millthorpe has had quite an influence on its surrounding area. With both the Peak District and Sheffield so close, Millthorpe is an ideal base for a holiday.

This Christmas my parents booked this cottage in the peak district. To my amazement its situation was perfect for me as a climber, right near froggat and curber for climbing, i mean 5 mins fro the froggat parking! Te cottage was really lush, really comfy and warm. with a hot tub and sauna n the barn opposite i was so spoilt. the farm dogs were really friendly and it was lovely to see horses in the stables below (which do not keep you up at night. i can highly recommend this place for a stay.

Lovely cottage, just as described. Fantastic location, perfect for a relaxing break so you can relax in the cottage and jacuzzi/sauna facilities as well as being in a great position for Peak District walks and Bakewell etc. Andrew and Suzanne were very friendly and welcoming too, and patient with our dog. Lovely dogs and horses too they have. 10/10!!

We booked this accommodation with close family for a quiet few days for my 50th birthday. All in all I can say we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the accommodation and surroundings were beautiful and tranquil. I have wonderful memories of the occasion. We really couldn't have picked a nicer place, in addition, we thought the owners were extremely friendly and helpful. I would certainly love to stay here again and would highly recommend to others.

The exposed brick and beams were very pleasing on the eye and the beds/sofas were comfortable. The sauna/hot tub area was very relaxing and just a short walk across the courtyard.

Excellent accommodation, full of character and lovely and cosy. Well equipped and the beds were very comfortable. We loved the sauna and hot tub. We had our dogs with us and the owner allowed us to walk them in the adjacent field. Lovely pub approximately 1.5 miles away. All in all a thoroughly relaxing break, we would definitely return.

A beautiful cottage and a lovely friendly family, they were very accommodating. Would definitely recommend.

This was the ideal location with the perfect facilities for our annual girls get-together. Kitchen was the ideal hub for us to cook and catch up as well as the more relaxing upstairs lounge area. Lots of sleeping space and 'space' in the bedrooms generally. The hot tub and sauna were in a separate barn opposite the cottage and a great facility to have on the doorstep. Set up on a higher hill there were fantastic views from right outside the front door. Ample parking facilities and some lovely friendly horses in the barn below the cottage. Bakewell is just a short drive away and was lovely for a couple of hours bumbling round the quirky little shops. Highly recommend.

We had such a brilliant time. The owners were really friendly and gave us a warm welcome letting us know that if we needed anything we could go see them. The cottage was beautiful and so spacious especially for six 18 year olds. The only thing we could recommend (due to our vanity/makeup application) is a large mirror :) The jacuzzi and sauna were brilliant and we had them all to ourselves for the whole week which was great! Other than that... It was excellent :) Thank You to the owners x

The owners and their family were so kind and helpful and very patient with our excitable spaniel who had a great time running in the field and playing with the dogs on the farm. My husband and I both enjoyed the wonderful scenery in the Peak District and having the freedom to do everything to suit ourselves. The weather was also perfect for walking and sight seeing.

We had a fantastic week made all the better for the warm welcome from the owners who called for our 3 children each morning to come and help feed the horses and tolerated our 2 year old throwing the stones from the driveway into the water trough! This barn is in a wonderful location, close to Chatworth and Bakewell, right in the Peak District with beautiful walks right opposite. we will definitely go back!
