Reviews

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Horse Mill Lodge. The owner met us on arrival and quickly showed us round before leaving us to our own devices, with tea, coffee, milk and biscuits. A lovely touch. The photos do not do this property justice. It is spacious, light, incredibly comfy and spotlessly clean throughout. We were impressed with the size of the bedroom & bathroom and the storage available. The kitchen was well equipped and we genuinely wanted for nothing. Fantastic views from all windows and a perfect location for exploring Derbyshire. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Horse Mill Lodge and will definitely be returning.

I would have been happy to call the apartment home as it was so well cared for, equipped and clean, showing taste in the overall quality of the furnishings. The owners were very helpful and kind, there when you needed them but not intrusive.

Rated by Mrs Mills reviewed on 26th April 2015

Although there seems to be little in Taddington itself, this property is a great base for travelling around the peak district. The apartment has been well thought out with windows on all four sides making the best of those lovely views. There was a generous amount of starter logs for the log burner and a decent sized freezer which is always useful. Horse Mill Lodge was generally well equipped (just a few items in the kitchen department we would have found useful). Just a few yards away is a bus stop that takes you into Bakewell (£6.50 return) and to Buxton if you felt like leaving the car behind.

My boyfriend and I went for New Years 2014/2015 and were very lucky to get our original 3 nights extended to 5 nights. The owners were very friendly and accommodating and made us feel at home when we arrived and then left us to it. Fantastic little lodge equipt with everything you might need and cleaned to a high standard. We even had a fresh bottle of milk, tea, coffee and shortbread on arrival! Wood burner was a great and we even had a Christmas tree too :)we really enjoyed our stay, and would definately recommend it!

Lovely owners, very accommodating. Location was brilliant, so central in the Peaks and not far from the main road but also in a great little village. The property was extremely cosy and very clean. Thought had been put into a lot of finishing touches.

What a lovely little property! Superbly clean, with really friendly owners. The location - in a little village near the main road - was perfect for finding and accessing nearby hikes and points of interest. I would definitely recommend this property, this is the best place I've stayed in the Peaks. The price represented excellent value too.

Horse Mill Lodge is a wonderful, peaceful hideaway. We loved relaxing in the comfortable lounge with the log burner going. The kitchen catered for all our needs and we liked that it was part of the main living room. The bedroom is very comfortable with plenty of space and a generous en suite. We would highly recommend Horse Mill Lodge.

Situated in a very good location, not far from shopping and town. Very easy to get around the Peak District. And if you're looking for peace and quiet it is wonderful too.

Rated by Miss Ohayon reviewed on 6th October 2014

The accomodation was nice rural, peaceful location with superb views from all windows. An ideal location as many places of interest were just a short ride away. We tried three local pubs for evening meals and we had our best meal at the Waterloo, a quiet pub but with a very friendly landlord with a lot of local knowledge.

Rated by Mrs Workman reviewed on 21st September 2014

The apartment was modernised to a high standard with everything in the kitchen new. The dishwasher was a real plus! The king size bed was very good with good quality linen. The bathroom was big with a good size modern shower and the towels were also excellent quality. The apartment was in easy reach of Bakewell, Buxton and many other places of interest in the Peaks. All together a really good holiday getaway.

A very relaxing week, with lots of places to visit without having to travel very far. Lovely clean accommodation.

Rated by Mr Spencer reviewed on 26th August 2014

We stayed at Horse Mill Lodge in April. It is a delightful property, quiet but well situated for visits to Bakewell and Buxton, for example. The owners have furnished the property to a very high standard, and have thought of everything that you might need. They are friendly, and recommended places to visit, eat etc. All accomodation is on the first floor, so visitors would need to be comfortable with stairs. We can personally vouch for the excellent fish and chips from the mobile van that visits the village one evening each week!

Horse Mill Lodge was a fantastic base from which we could explore the Peak District. An ideal location with only a short drive to anywhere we wished to visit. The lodge is very well equipped and immaculately presented, we couldn't have asked for anything more! The owners are both friendly and accommodating and we wouldn't hesitate to book again in the future.

Horse Mill Lodge is a very well equipped cottage containing everything that we needed. The fittings are very modern and of excellent quality. We found the cottage to be very well placed to walk from the doorstep, as we did several times. It is also well placed for car visits to nearby towns of Bakewell and Buxton. There are a couple of pubs in the village which are adequate but we did not use them much at all. The weather was quite wet and cool but the log burner was brilliant in the evenings. Overall, we had a really good week and would recommend this cottage.

Stayed at Horse Mill Lodge in early July, it’s a great newly converted one bedroom apartment finished to a very high standard with hardwood floors in the lounge, bedroom and bathroom and with stunning views over the Peak District. With all you need for a great holiday including a flat screen TV with built in DVD player, ceramic top cooker, microwave, dishwasher and large fridge/freezer, and should it be cold, a wood burning stove with plenty of wood is there for your use, backed up with central heating. Fresh flowers in lounge and chocolate biscuits, tea, coffee and milk in the kitchen. The lodge comes with a private parking area with two different seating areas one with a table and portable BBQ. The owners live next door and were very helpful, suggesting a number of places to go. Apartment has loads of tourist info and maps and some DVDs. The local pub and fantastic views of the Peak district are a short walk away.

This was the first time we had visited the Peak District and were very pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the area. The cottage we stayed in was finished to the very highest standard and ideally situated between Buxton and Bakewell. Both my wife and I would not hesitate in recommending Horse Mill Lodge to anyone who might be thinking of looking for a cottage with perfect views, welcoming owners and extremely comfortable accommodation.
