Thistle Dubh ("Doo"), Colvend

This is the most well equipped, lovely chalet we’ve been to. Child and dog friendly. A real home from home. Cosy and set in a gorgeous location. Stone throw from a beautiful beach. Kitted out with everything you could need. Thistle Dubh is a real find and we will definitely be coming back. We would highly recommend. Truly five star! (2 adult 2 young children 5 and 5).

We stayed here Christmas 2018 from the moment we all walked in it was magical. We loved every moment. We had a lovely relaxing Christmas the lodge was cozy and beautiful. Lots to do around. Christmas decorations and everything even treats for our dogs thankyou for a magical xmas

Being a busy mother of two, I was scrolling the internet looking for a place to hide away for a week, seeking peace and quiet to finish my studies. I couldn't have dreamt of a better place to go. Being on my own, i felt completely safe in the lodge and enjoyed some beautiful walks to the nearby beach. I spent most of my days in the lodge and occasionally ate at the site restaurant - I couldn't have felt more comfortable. From the beautiful white linen bedsheets and towels, to the thoughtful collective of books and DVDS, to the extensive cooking equipment and gorgeous candles, I felt truly at home. Thank you for such a meaningful and wonderful stay - the owners have really made the effort to make Thistle Dubh feel like a home away from home

A very relaxing holiday and a fantastic property to chill out on the balcony with a glass of wine.

Everything about the lodge was of the highest standard. It was impeccably furnished but also very homely. The site itself was very well maintained and quiet. There was lots to do in the surrounding area too. We would highly recommend this lodge.

The lodge was fantastic and the area was so peaceful, it was only a 5 minute walk to the beach, which was a lovely walk. Also really enjoyed walking around the loch every day with the dogs. Contact with the owner was good and it was a very dog friendly area which we liked. We would definitely go back again and definitely to this lodge which we loved.

Thoroughly enjoyable time was had by all. A real home from home experience.

Lovely cabin, always nice to visit this part of Scotland and this cabin makes it even better. All the home comforts and more.

Fantastic accommodation in an idyllic location - very family friendly. It was exceptionally clean and had all we needed. The beds were so comfortable, it was a disappointment to return home to our own! The location to the beach is ideal - just a short walk, 4-5 mins at the most.

The lodge was in a stunning location with great wildlife around, and close enough to beach to walk there. Overall, very very impressed with how well equipped the lodge was, it was as if the owner had thought of everything we might need. Great information was provided in the cottage about what is on around the lodge.

Excellent dog friendly accommodation ideally situated for walking. It was quiet, peaceful and tranquil, would visit again tomorrow!

When we arrived we were totally bowled over with this beautiful holiday let, so much so we booked it again for next year. Communication with the owner was excellent, it is a wonderful place and we hope we can go year after year.

The chalet was excellent as was the site and surrounding area. We particularly enjoyed walking the dogs on the beach.

We loved everything about the holiday. The lodge, surroundings, weather..we had an absolutely fantastic time. We were in need of a relaxing holiday, which is what we got, peace and quiet when needed. The lake and beach were close at hand and the fact we could take our dog was great, even in the bar, the staff were friendly. Overall a fantastic time, would certainly go back!

We found Thistle Dubh to be a well equipped lodge in beautiful surroundings. There were plenty of walks from the door and gorgeous scenery. It was a well maintained site set in a peaceful location. A great mixture of woodlands, beaches and small towns to explore. Most of which were dog friendly too.

Fabulously beautiful area, the Scottish Riviera. Superbly equipped lodge, wonderful standard of living, didn't want to come home. Pet friendly restaurant close by, will certainly be returning.

Great location for walking and being close to a sandy beach. Very well kitted property, On-site pub and restaurant is very good and reasonably priced.

The standard is of a much higher quality, it is by far the best one we have used.
