This was my third visit to this Cottage and I hope to return again. I think this speaks for itself. The Cottage has everything you need for a holiday Cottage and everything is spotlessly clean. It is situated in a delightful village with easy access to so many different areas. The owners are friendly and helpful.

Beautiful area surrounding this pretty cottage and great for walking, bird-watching & nature lovers. Close to Kirkby Stephen for a variety of shops. The owner is very friendly & helpful, without being intrusive, and Old Cottage itself was very relaxing & peaceful.

An absolutely brilliant place to stay. The owners/neighbours couldn't have been more accommodating or polite! Old Cottage is stunning - like a home from home. We will definitely go again and recommend to friends.

A lovely cottage within walking distance of the local pub. The owners were around if we needed them. Some lovely walks around the area.

Rated by Mrs Coldron reviewed on 6th July 2014

Very quiet location, in a wonderful area. Not far from the Lake district and the North Dales National Park. Walks are easy from the cottage. A wonderful and good restaurant at the end of the road (5 minutes by foot). I highly recommend this cottage! The area is splendid!

Lovely scenery and friendly people. Dog friendly pubs.

Rated by Mrs Tilsley reviewed on 1st April 2014

A very cosy and comfortable cottage, very good location. Could walk from door for some wonderful country walks, also a very short walk to the local pub which was ideal over the New Year period. We arrived to find that all the beds had been made up, also the owner had very kindly provided some basic essentials which were also appreciated.

The cottage is away from the more touristy spots so a peaceful stay is guaranteed. Everything is within an easy drive - we stayed with our two kids aged 4 and 16 months and had no trouble at all day tripping to the safari park, World of Beatrix Potter etc. Nateby and the surrounding villages are beautiful. There is nowhere to do a biggish shop in Nateby but you only have to drive for about 7 minutes to reach the nearest Co-op. The cottage is very well equipped. The kitchen is especially well stocked with dishes, pots and pans etc so if you wished to cook every night it wouldn't be a problem. The owners are very helpful. The accommodation is over two levels so we needed a baby gate. We had no sooner asked than one was produced. We would certainly return here. Beautiful part of the world and perfect little bolt hole. The only thing families with young and busy kids might want to note is that there is no enclosed outside space attached to the property. We were out every day so it didn't bother us.

The location of the cottage was excellent, small quiet village with the most excellent pub just up the road. The food at the Nateby Inn was superb. We were very impressed with the standard of kitchen equipment, and the beds were clean and comfortable.

Rated by Mrs Macfarlane reviewed on 16th October 2013

Very nicely decorated and furnished. Very cosy, felt like home from home. Perfectly situated as a base for exploring the countryside. Delicious food at the pub 50 paces up the road.

Ideal for touring the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. Clean and comfortable cottage in a very nice location.

Rated by Mr Mumford reviewed on 3rd September 2013

Don't be fooled by the " Oldy worldy " exterior , this is a modern spacious property , with plenty of room for 4 adults .It contains everything you will need for your enjoyable stay . The village of Nateby is small , but welcoming , especially the Nateby Inn , where excellent food and drink is served and the staff go out of their way to help , even including our Rottweiler . ( yes the whole area seems to be dog friendly .) There are plenty of walks locally or you can use the cottage as a base for further afield .Just 10mins walk is Kirby Stephen , where you can find everything you can't get in Nateby. All in all we had a great weeks stay , everything we expected and more . So in the immortal word of arnie "we'll be back !!! "

Great if you want to escape and be cut off from the rest of the world for a few days as we did.

Rated by Mr Diamond reviewed on 3rd January 2012

This was a lovely cottage to stay in. We took Jenny's advice and headed up the Eden Valley when we went to York - just stunning. So this a great base for exploring. The location takes you off the beaten path, which is exactly what you need to do when in the UK, but it's still close enough to the motorway to get places easily. The beds were comfy and the home well equipped. No internet or washing machine - not a problem for a shorter stay :) Jenny and John were friendly and welcoming, but not intrusive :) And the local pub serves great meals :)

Old cottage is a very comfortable and cosy cottage in an ideal location, with fantastic walks from the doorstep and everything you could possibly need is available in nearby village.

The cottage was spotless and very nicely decorated. It was warm and cosy and had a "home from home" feel about it. The location was excellent with beautiful countryside and local walks. The owners lived next door and were friendly and helpful and even put a pint of milk in the fridge so we could have a cup of tea when we arrived. I have already recommended the cottage to a friend and I would not hesitate to book it again in the future.
