Bill's Place, Bainbridge

This picturesque, 200 year old end-terrace cottage is a stone-built construction overlooking the village green in Bainbridge. Renovated to a high standard, this charming cottage has retained much of its original character, including exposed beams and a stunning fireplace which now homes a wood-burning stove. There are two bedrooms – one king-size and one single – in addition to a kitchen with dining area and sitting room. Guests can enjoy a relaxing afternoon in the pretty patio garden, or follow the many peaceful walks throughout the village.

This is a beautiful, well equipped cottage with no expense spared on the facilities in the property. Beautifully clean and teabags, coffee, milk and sugar on arrival , lovely touch. Fresh clean bedding and towels. Just a lovely place to stay . Excellent location to a little shop ( in the care home ) , great tea room , butchers and Rose and Crown hotel/ pub. Fish and chips van on a Tuesday from 16.30pm on the green only serves for 2 hours so be quick . Excellent property for a family of three in a beautiful location.

My wife, teenage son and I have just returned from a fantastic holiday in Bill's place. The accommodation was warm, peaceful and clean... Can't fault it really, although the high stools in the kitchen could do with dinner padding. The area has lots to do and see and it's truly the first holiday in ages I wasn't looking forward to going home. Thank you for such a great stay.

This is the third time we have stayed here. We are coming again in September and will (god willing) be returning for as long as we can. It is a great cottage and cared for by the owners and their assistants and in a wonderful location.

Relaxing with plenty of local walks. The cottage is stunning and like home from home. This was our second visit and hopefully we will return.

Rated by Mr Taylor reviewed on 11th October 2014

The cottage was a perfect size for us; very clean and beautifully presented and in a quiet location in a beautiful Dales village. The shower room was immaculate and had the luxury of underfloor heating which was great. A gem of a cottage and we've recommended it to friends already.

Rated by Mr Watson reviewed on 5th October 2014

The service provided was excellent even a bottle of fresh milk was left in the fridge plus a packet of choc.biscuits, All cleaning materials are provided and ample crockery and cutlery. It is spotless clean and all units were great. There was nothing that was needed. The TV and DVD player were excellent with a Freesat Box, WiFi was easy to connect and worked very well. Dozens of popular DVDs in a draw. The central heating was superb heating the whole cottage in minutes. There is a log fire but we didn't require to use is. It is so good that we booked it again for next year before we came away. Bainbridge is a very lovely Yorkshire Village and the people are very friendly and keen to help. The best local pub was The Crown in Askrigg only a mile away which serves excellent food. The local people there were also very freinldy .

Rated by Alan B reviewed on 7th September 2014

Our stay couldn't have been any more pleasant. Our every need was taken care of and we were made to feel very welcome. When I accidentally broke the house key and the stub got stuck in the door, help arrived quickly to extract the stub and give us a replacement. We hope we'll be able to come again and will definitely recommend Sykes and Bill's Place.

Rated by Mr Murrish reviewed on 10th February 2014

Lovely, warm cottage with the added seasonal benefit of our own Christmas tree, lights and decorations. High quality of furnishings and contents.

Rated by Miss Wells reviewed on 30th December 2013

We stayed in Bill's Place for 5 nights over the Xmas period. A lovely, warm cottage decorated to a high standard. The kitchen is very well equipped, with most things that you could want - although we took our own egg poacher as the majority of cottages we have stayed in do not stock one of these! The cottage was also magically decorated with a gorgeous Christmas tree and lights at the window - a lovely and considerate touch. We had considered bringing our own tree, so it was a welcome relief to find one was already in-situ! The weather was particularly bad during our stay, with high winds and lots of rain causing a lot of the local roads to flood, so we spent more time that we anticipated indoors, but the comfort of Bill's Place made it a pleasure. Lovely pub in Askrigg (about a mile away) called The Kings Arms did an excellent pint of Black Sheep! Hawes is ten minutes down the road, with a selection of shops and pubs. Very well located cottage. Would certainly recommend a visit!

Rated by theflooze reviewed on 30th December 2013

The cottage was beautifully furnished and extremely well equipped. If you needed anything you could guarantee it would be available for you! Bainbridge is a lovely village and the surrounding countryside second to none. Yorkshire at its best! Our stay was for one week and there was so much to do and see, we didn't need to travel far. We can't wait to return. The weather was lovely but suddenly changed and was noticeably colder. The owner telephoned just to check we were warm enough and to make sure we took advantage of the extra blankets and open fire - a lovely touch!

Pretty bedroom with a very comfortable bed. Overall, one of the nicest cottages we have ever stayed in, with lots of little extra touches. Can't wait to return! :-)

Bills Place is the best Yorkshire Dales cottage we've stayed in over a 16 year period of holidaying in the area! We loved the decor and furnishings and the little extra touches. Really loved the cottage and I am definitely hoping to stay there again. I will certainly recommend to friends and family too.

Rated by Mrs Wales reviewed on 23rd July 2012

We have stayed in the area many times over the past 15 years but Bills Place has to be one of the best, if not THE best place we've stayed in! Total comfort throughout, easy to understand explanations of how everything works, and lots of added extras - even a sewing kit and shoe-cleaning kit available if needed. We have had a truly relaxing and comfortable stay in a lovely cottage in a fabulous part of the UK, and we hope to come again!

Rated by Anne W reviewed on 20th July 2012

We've just got home after a week's holiday staying in "Bill's Place" and we've already booked to return for Christmas! It is a fabulous "5 star" cottage with all the facilities you could wish for. Warm, comfortable and cosy with a fully fitted kitchen and a bathroom with double sized shower. There are great walks onto the Dales from the cottage and so you don't need a car to get out and explore the beautiful contryside on foot. There's a pub just 3 minutes walk away and a 5 star hotel only a further 3 minutes walk. There's also a fantastic butchers by the bridge which is just a minute down the lane. If you do wish to use a car then Bolton Castle is well worth a visit, (spiral staircases so not really for children and not open over the winter (Nov-Feb)) or the Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes (only 4 miles away). All in all a first class cottage located in a very relaxing venue which we would thoroughly recommend! P.S. No telephone or WiFi in the cottage, (a refreshing rest) but these are due to be installed in November.

Excellent facilities in the house. It had everything we needed right down to cellotape and pencils and paper! Able to relax and plenty of hot water for showers after very wet walks! Lovely CLEAN village. After being warned about the local pub we went several times and really enjoyed it. The beer was very good. An excellent cottage where we could tell that lots of thought had been put in to making holiday makers welcome.

After booking with Sykes - a simple procedure - we received a welcome phone-call from the owners. On arrival, the heating had been on and the cottage was lovely and clean, cosey and welcoming. The furnishings were first-class and the cottage was well-equipped. We found it to be conveniently situated for all parts of Wensleydale and for our forays across the snow-bound hills into Swaledale! We made use of the village butchers and good variety of shops in nearby Hawes. In summary, the cottage provided everything we expected and more for a comfortable stay in the Dales in the depths of Winter, with snug evenings reading by the wonderful wood-burner. We cannot think of any aspect we disliked and would return to repeat the experience.
