Just spent 7 enjoyable days here, The cottage was beautiful, warm and cosy, plenty of room for the 6 of us and the dog. Plenty of walks around, + places to visit, the welcome cake was lovely hope to go back again. Would definitely recommend

Now we have a little dog (18 months old) we choose holiday homes that fit in with her. Bryn Howell was perfect - the garden is completely enclosed and you may use the adjacent field if the cattle aren't there. Bigger than it looks in the pics, with three good bedrooms (we all had brilliant sleeps), 2 terrific showers and 1 lovely deep bath. Lounge has 2 big couches, armchair, bean bag and pouffe so lots of sitting space. We went end May and weather was a bit iffy so we used the central heating once or twice and everything warmed up super-quick. There is also a log burner but not cold enough to warrant using it. Canal path is just outside the gate and it's an easy and pleasant 40 mins' walk to Llangollen. It's also the way to the nearby Sun pub (10/15 mins) which serves really tasty pub fayre and, again, is extremely dog-friendly. The owners live to the rear of the property - near enough if you need them but otherwise you wouldn't know they were there. Highly recommended.

We stayed st Bryn Howell Stables for a week in April and thought the accommodation was very well equipped, clean and comfortable. It is situated in a very scenic area with plenty of facilities nearby. The canal is very close and ideal for taking a walk. Llangollen is very close, it a bustling town with plenty to do and with good eating places.

A delightful cottage in an amazing location.

Rated by Ms Gillow reviewed on 4th January 2016

Cottage was clean very well equipped and had a homely feeling which we loved. The children loved the location next to the canal, they could wave to barges as they went by. There is a pub that you can walk to for an evening meal if you dont want to cook. We had wonderful weather while we were there so after a day out exploring we would light the woodburner and relax. We are going to return next year. Superb, thanks for a lovely autumn holiday!

Rated by carolinesmith2015 reviewed on 7th November 2015

The views are stunning! Right next to the canal too so walking into Llangollen or Trevor Basin is very doable. We took the bus into Llangollen too as the bus stops just at the top of the lane. Easy walk to Bryn Howell Hotel and the Sun Trevor. Gorgeous Victoria sponge waiting for us. I was disappointed in the standard of cleanliness. Cobwebs were in abundance, very dusty furniture and the toilet bowls were black, as was the inside of the kettle! Overall we enjoyed our stay.

We found Bryn Howell Stables a very comfortable and well equipped cottage. It was very well situated close to places of interest in the area. We would certainly consider a second visit to this cottage and can recommend it heartily.

Rated by Mr Coley reviewed on 7th June 2015

This was the second stay with our grandson at the STABLES, this time with another friend and her son. We had a pre-holiday planning meeting (over a glass of wine of course) and told her all about the cottage, the surrounding area, places to go and eat and other things to do. All I can to my review of 2013 on how really good this property is, is that our friend said that we had met all her expectations. Therefore......say no more. It's a lovely cottage in a great location....so give it a go.

Rated by Nick B reviewed on 31st May 2015

My wife and I have holidayed in the same area for the last 4 Spring Bank holidays. This was the second time we had stayed at the Bryn Howell Stables, this time with two other friends. We had presented it to them as an ideal property in a fantastic setting just right for us adults and 2 boys. It was great to know that we had not let them down as they thought it was just how we'd described it. So much so they want to return with us, so plans will have to be made. We do realise that a great holiday in the area can be weather dependent, the gods of good weather were smiling on us as the weather this time round was an improvement on previous visits. Amid frequent games of football, Frisbee chucking and archery was educational enlightenment.

We have self catered for quite a few years and this is by far the best! Total relaxation and actually we found we didn't need to use the car apart from shopping trips. Lovely walks along the canal. Thanks for a great stay.

The location was great, just a short stroll to the canal and walking distance to hotel if you want to have a drink or eat out. The cottage was very comfortable and spacious. Very quiet with fantastic views. Owners were very friendly. Only negative was the size of the bath towels.

Rated by A FlipKey verified reviewer reviewed on 8th August 2014

The position of the cottage - it was private, but not remote. Fantastic views of the hills and castle, had good access to local towns and amenities. Many local attractions if one likes walking/hiking and industrial heritage such as canals and railways. We found lots to do. The cottage was extremely comfortable and homely, the owners very helpful and friendly.

Rated by Mr Hambry reviewed on 8th October 2013

We had a superb relaxing week, Me, my wife our grandson and our two friends and their son. Just the place for two 9 yr old boys to run around like mad and exhaust themselves. All amenities very good and as described in the brochure, 2 bathrooms and downstairs w/c great for us all. The owner, I think we nicknamed him the 'Colonel', nice chap and very helpful. Cottage in perfect location in the valley and when the weather was fine (most of the week) just right to sit in the garden with a glass of wine soaking up the beautiful scenery. Had to light a real fire as it was there...brill. Lovely walk through the yard area across the fields down to the river Dee. Took the boys fishing and the proximity of the canal was brilliant...the other side of the hedge!!! And in the early morning lovely to hear the narrowboats slowly chugging past. Would recommend the Bryn Howell Hotel...over the canal bridge through the gate and across the yard. Lovely hotel and very good reasonably priced food. Try the steak and ale pie..hmm hmm. Worth a trip to the Horseshoe falls (origin of the canal) but we never got the sun pub at Trevor. The walk from the cottage to Llangollen is a bit longer that the cottage book says it is...but in the right weather a lovely stroll. The Llangollen steam heritage railway is defo worth a trip on. We hired a day narrowboat and did the return trip over the Pontyscyllte aqueduct...fantastic but make sure you've gold hold of the kids!!! The wharf does do day drips if hiring a day boat is out of your budget (£120). Llangollen...nice town. Big Tescos about 3 miles up the road. Drove to Conwy and walked around the castle wall though the weather was very inclement so put a dampener on it, couldn't see Snowdon due to low cloud. It is really difficult to put some negatives into this text as we all said "We could live here", a comment only made when it's true. We would stay at this cottage again without doubt.

It was very dog friendly with lovely walks from the door. A 15 minute walk to the nearest pub which served really lovely food and is dog friendly ! We will definitely return ASAP !!!!! loved everything about the place and its surroundings.

Rated by Miss Wooltorton reviewed on 2nd October 2012

The cottage was a little hard to find as the sat-nav location does not take you to the house, using google streets sort of helped and the owners additional instructions helped. Once found though it will never be forgotten, set in beautiful woodland with early morning mists and the sounds of a nearby stream and the chugg of the narrowboats comming by and surrounded by wildlife it is a must for those who crave peace and quiet. (I shouldn't really be telling you this!) I am a writer and found my whole time her inspirational. The cottage was warm, comfortable and set out well. I am also walking disabled and managed the place very well all though there are alot of stairs to the bedrooms there is amble waiting areas and handrails. Good lighting. The only downsides were the on suit shower doors are fixed and even the thinest body's would find it hard to get in with out difficulties. Also the sofas are really uncomfortable. I and my family would like to revisit this place one day.

Rated by Mr Bowman reviewed on 16th September 2012

My husband and I stayed with two friends while the International Eisteddfodd was on in Llangollen. The cottage is next to the canal and we were able to easily walk into Llangollen along the canal path. One of the highlights of our week was hiring a canal barge for the day and travelling across the aqueduct, a bit scary at first but well worth it. We also went to Portmeirion which was delightful and on to anglesey where we had a superb lunch one day. The cottage itself was really clean and had everything we could have wanted. We were there in 'Summer'time but I would think it would be very cozy for an autumn/Winter break. There was a very welcome tea tray laid for us when we arrived with home made flap jacks. The cottage is in a quiet spot but close the the Bryn Howell Hotel if you want to eat out within a couple of minutes walking distance. We did not eat there. The garden at the cottage is pretty and has a bbq and outside seating area if you are lucky with the weather. We sat outside for breakfast most mornings because the views are lovely. Overall we had an excellent time (not even marred by the weather which was not very good for a lot of the time) The people that we we dealt with when booking the holiday with Sykes Cottages were very pleasant and helpful

The cottage really felt like a home from home. The additional touches such as the fresh flowers and cakes on arrival were very nice and much appreciated. The situation of the cottage was very peaceful and very near to the canal which made for an easy walk to Llangollen. We hired a barge for the day and travelled across the aqueduct which was fantastic and just a little scary.

Rated by Mrs Jones reviewed on 8th July 2012

This is our 2nd visit and we love the cottage,it is clean and perfect for dogs to have their own garden to run around in. The area is peaceful and the owners are helpful and friendly if needed,we did not see then all week but they live in a house in the grounds of the cottage you rent so there is no problems with them checking you and feeling watched,so I would say this is a perfect holiday base with a quiet and peaceful garden to sit out in and have wine in the evenings! There are some good pubs in the area and Sainsburys near by for a big shop,we did find a new Tesco's but this is not signed posted so can be hard to find, once you find it you are fine, there is an Hotel just across the bridge by the cottage and the food there is very nice, but some of the pubs near by are hit and miss so look a bit further away. We hope anyone who chooses this cottage feels the same way about it,you will love the setting and peacefulness of the cottage.

Rated by A FlipKey verified reviewer reviewed on 27th June 2012

We had a fantastic time again this year, this is our 2nd visit. The cottage is a good size with plenty of books, games and DVD's provided if the weather keeps you indoors. Tesco supermarket is very near the cottage and therefore you can stock up on food and drink at anytime. The owners are very helpful. This is one of the best places we have found and would be very happy to recommend to others.

Met on arrival by owners who were extremely welcoming. We didn't have to trouble them during our stay but they were always around. The accommodation was very comfortable and well equiped. The location for us couldn't have been better for a "get away from it all" break. Mutley the dog was happy but even our two teenagers were able to chill and enjoyed the walks and peaceful surroundings. Llangollen of course is a very pretty town and serviced out needs. We were blessed with some beautiful weather but even if it had not have been good we were quite happy to walk and relax which this holiday offered in abundance.

Rated by Mrs Brown reviewed on 8th November 2010

Such a homely feel to the property, with lots of personal touches and exceptional fixtures and fittings. It felt very spacious for the four of us. It was a little far away from the locations we were wanting to visit; that's no fault of the property or our excellent hosts, but Welsh roads made eveywhere we visited (mainly north coast) at least 90 minutes away. We would thoroughly reccommend this venue.

Quite simply, one of the most amazing cottages we have ever stayed in. We were the first paying guests and literally, nothing was too much trouble for our charming owners. The cottage is perfection itself - big enough, warm, extremely well-equipped and tastefully decorated and furnished. Very welcoming to outdoors types - providing dry and warm storage for wet, muddy walking boots and 5 mountain bikes. The view from the kitchen window is to die for - I spent long periods watching the ever changing weather and the impact on the view. The had never met the owners before, but we wish them very best wishes - they deserve to do very well with the beuatiful haven they have created. We've already recommended the cottage to several friends and hope to return next year.
