Reviews

You will struggle to find a better location to enjoy Red Wharf Bay esp. Llanddona Beach. The cottage is very well equipped and the shower-room and ensuite cloakroom are very modern and well appointed. There are amazing views from the living room, kitchen and both bedrooms. The patio area is a a little sun trap.

We go here every year twice a year, a stones throw from the beach, owners friendly and helpful but not intrusive, cottage clean and comfortable, dog friendly, everything and more you could want for a peaceful relaxing break or if you prefer the coastal path is on your doorstep and the beach is blue flag so perfect for swimming and fishing.

My Boyfriend booked us 3 nights for my birthday (mid March). The location and views are out of this world, the beach is beautiful and the surroundings are peaceful. It was disappointing only due the cleanliness. There was lots of dust on the light shades, the oven was so dirty it smelt awful when cooking and the bathroom was just grubby. It really does just need a deep clean and it would be like a new place. I would go back again to give it another try as it could have been a one off :)

We stayed here for a long weekend end of march with our 3 month old, two year old and two dogs. The cottage is brilliant well presented and had everything you need. James the host is lovely and helpful. Location is amazing can't fault it beautiful scenery and beach on the door step. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends. Only things I would recommend are a welcome pack would have been nice given the isolated location it's usually nice to have some tea bags and milk on arrival which we have had at other cottages. There was no starter pack for the fire. Also an iron and a hairdryer would have been handy but this did not effect our stay and I can not fault the service provided or property.

Where do we start? Firstly both James & his wife lesley are both friendly and welcoming. The cottage is roomy and well stocked with everything you could need (sky tv) although we didnt watch much of it. The beach is just across the road, magnificent views from the lounge. There are plenty of walks to do should you choose to, a trip to Beaumaris and Puffin island is a must, our two terriers had a fantastic time on the beach. We will be visiting again in the future (2020) as where off to Scotland next year.

Superb location and accommodation, the cottage was everything we wanted and needed. The rooms were very clean, well-presented, comfortable and warm. The views were amazing and the close proximity to the sea/beach could not be bettered. This was the perfect spot/base for our holiday and we would love to stay at Hen Felin again. The owner was very friendly and on hand if we needed help. A fantastic holiday, my children and their dog loved every minute!

This is a beautiful cottage in a stunning location. The owner was very friendly, but did not intrude. The furniture was of good quality, and all matched! It was lovely having a coal fire. The sea views from the lounge, kitchen and main bedroom are just amazing. Being able to walks along the beach right outside the property was fabulous.

A literal stones throw from the waters edge, this cottage has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Ok, so the approach road is a little steep in places but this means that only those who need to, use it and this helps to keep it a hidden treasure. We went with two 9 year olds and they went in the water every day and also explored the rock pools. The beach is very safe and to hear the waves lapping the rocks at night was bliss. With an attentive on-site owner and views to die for, we have already booked to return next year.

I thought the photos didn't actually do justice to the cottages. They are in a fabulous location and if you like a walking or birdwatching holiday in the off peak months it is fabulous here and I will be recommending it!

Rated by Mrs Barlow reviewed on 5th February 2012

Cottage was very clean and had all necessary facilities. Owners very helpful and friendly. Beach a few steps from cottage with a small cafe a short walk away for snacks and drinks. We liked the quiet location best and the steep hill the least, but what comes down must go up.

Rated by Mr Collett reviewed on 8th February 2011

Very cosy. We recommend the Sailors Return pub in Beaumaris - nice atmosphere, friendly staff and very good food.

Rated by Mrs Clayton reviewed on 18th November 2010

The service provided by the agents and the cottage owner (who lived next door) were brillient. The cottage was very cosy and we particularly liked the open log fire and the fact that we could switch the wall heaters on if we were cold without having to put coins in (as have done before). The owner had put a vase of flowers on the table as a welcome and the lack of 'house rules' everywhere made us feel at home. The location was outstandingly beautiful with the sea practically on the doorstep. Our two 'must haves' with a holiday cottage are seaviews and open fires which this cottage had. If there was one small gripe, I felt a little more attention to cleanliness could have been given. The plastic tray on the draining board was grimy so I put it to one side and did not use. I also had to clean the cutlery drawer and some of the large knives as they were dirty. The one toilet also needed a good scrub under the lid at the back. Apart from that, everything was perfect.

Rated by A FlipKey verified reviewer reviewed on 5th November 2010

Excellent location, sea view, beach close by, good walks, open fire in lounge and friendly host living on site.

Rated by Mrs Reynolds reviewed on 4th October 2010

It was nice to find an all "mod cons" cottage to let - couldn't fault it in any way and the sea views were to die for.

Rated by Mr Shaw reviewed on 20th September 2010

The accommodation, its facilities and the sea view. Owner very friendly. Beaches uncrowded and just a walk across the road away. Beach has designated area for dogs and a warden to keep an eye on things.

Rated by Miss Holl reviewed on 24th August 2010

Coming home to such a lovely, quiet, unspoilt area and homely cottage after exploring Anglesey and Wales every day. We were able to cook an evening meal in the cottage every evening which was easier than finding 'dog friendly' pubs or restaurants. Also great to have such a large section of the beach that allowed the dog, so near to the cottage. An excellent base for exploring with gorgeous views and amazing sunsets. The Sykes Cottage website was really easy to use and browse through and book with.
