Jackson Cottage, Alnmouth

Second visit to this wonderful cottage we went last September great position in lovely alnmouth spotlessly clean had everything you needed fore a perfect stay would recommend we will be back

Had a great week in this lovely cottage, couldn't find any faults .had everything you needed kitchen had everything really well equipped, nice touch from the owner pack of shortbreads on kitchen table also there to welcome us on arrival. Would return in a heartbeat Alnmouth is stunning

Rather unusual cottage, inasmuch that the accommodation is "upside down". The first floor open plan living area is light and spacious, with comfortable seating, a large screen smart TV and an area in the bay window for dining, which has a pleasant view towards the golf course and beach. The adjoining kitchen area is well equipped, although the cooker and microwave took a couple of days and lots of knob turning and button pressing to understand. The instruction manual merely confused us. Downstairs are the two en suite bedrooms, the front room having a double bed and built in storage ,but a limited amount of free space. The rear bedroom is larger, with a double and a single bed BUT no window! Not only does this mean the room is very dark on even the brightest days, but, more importantly, it has no means of ventilation, other than leaving a side door open, onto a narrow alley. Not something one wants to do at night. This meant the room got stuffy at night and wouldn't be acceptable to us during warm weather. Although the beds in this room were very comfortable, the wooden frames project beyond the mattresses at the foot of the beds and the pointed corners caused bruised legs on more than one occasion. The on street parking wasn't too much of a problem, although this might change in the high season. The area is well worth visiting for its beautiful beaches and wealth of historical sites.

My friend and I stayed in Jackson's Cottage for a week. The cottage is VERY well equipped and was spotlessly clean. The layout of the cottage means that you have a wonderful view of the sea from the Bay window upstairs. The parking wasn't a problem as you could park in the bus stop parking bay to unload and then find a place to park the car. We found no problem parking in the street each evening. The pub shown as next door to the cottage is closed and looks as if it has been for a while. We found the cottage quiet throughout our stay. I would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a great place to stay, we enjoyed ourselves tremendously and hope to return another time. The location is great, so many lovely places to visit nearby, incredible beaches and the people are very friendly. On our first Sunday (we arrived Saturday evening) we were looking for Sunday lunch and found a pub Dunstan Hotel where we had an amazing roast lunch (huge portions) for £12.95!!!! We were so full we couldn't manage a pudding! Fish and Chips is a must as the fish is so fresh, lots of place to find this. All in all we had a wonderful stay at this delightful cottage.

A lovely cottage with a fantastic window seat with great views. The beds were comfortable and the showers were excellent. The children loved that it was upside down.

A lovely cottage, an ideal base for exploring Northumberland. It was very well equipped and spotlessly clean.

Relaxation in an attractive little town, with unbeatable coastal and beach walks. There was plenty to see within an easy radius. The cottage was comfortable, well equipped and with a good choice of local eateries.

The position of the cottage is excellent for a site-seeing holiday in this area. There are plenty of good places to eat or take coffee within walking distance of the cottage. The first floor sitting/dining room is light and airy with good views towards the sea. It is a very pleasant room in which to relax.

The cottage was centrally situated in Alnmouth and the bay window had lovely views of the sea. Condition of the cottage was very good and we felt the sitting room and kitchen were roomy and comfortable. We would certainly recommend this place to family and friends.

The cottage was lovely, and the view from the window across the Golf Course and Sea were delightful. Alnmouth is a lovely village, and everyone is friendly, a good base for travelling around.

We felt comfortable and at home as soon as we arrived. The beds in particular were the most comfortable we had ever slept in, which is where most rental properties fall down. Overall it was a definite 10 out of 10. Excellent, one to remember.

The property has a brilliant location and is very well maintained. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Northumberland is a lovely county, very unspoilt.

Alnmouth is a beautiful spot and the view from the sitting room window out over the golf course, beach and sea was wonderful. Walking along the beach on a sunny autumn day was lovely. A brilliant holiday.

We enjoyed the location and the cottage very much. It was centrally located to all the things that we needed as a family. The area is beautiful and there is always plenty to do and see.

This is the second cottage we have stayed in belonging to Bilton Barns and they are of an exceptional high standard. Jackson Cottage was an ideal base for us to explore the local area and we will certainly be re-booking.

I like the view from the sitting room and the proximity of the cottage to the beach and places to eat. Also well positioned to visit both northern and southern stretches of the Northumbrian coast, as well as interesting places inland.

Great location for trains/ local buses and walking up the Coast. An unspoilt, friendly and welcoming part of the world with good local pubs and shops. Nice, quiet and relaxing. A lovely upside down cottage with good facilities.

Jackson Cottage is in a fantastic setting and provides all you need for a thoroughly relaxing break. We'll definitely be back!

This is the second time we have visited this cottage. It is an excellent cottage in a wonderful location. The cottage is superbly fitted out with quality items. It is very peaceful. Alnmouth is a tranquil haven.

Excellent cottage for families, spacious, minutes from beach & park. Several pubs doing good food, close to some good attractions, esp. Alnwick garden. Don't forget dry clothes for the kids!

Upstairs sitting room and oriole style window at the front of the property overlooking the street and the sea. Easy access to beach and river. The place was well kitted out with everything needed for a week.

The lovely upstairs bay window with seating is great, not only for looking out to sea but also for observing people coming and going in the street below. The Saddle Hotel serves reasonably priced quality food available in two portion sizes.

Very nice cottage. Cottage was lovely and in a great location. Had lots of info/board games which was a nice touch. Very impressed by both the cottage and Alnmouth and surrounding area and bus and train links.

What a wonderful holiday cottage, I have already recommended it to several of my colleagues at work. Alnmouth is a delightful location and well situated for many attractions and days out. The beach, estuary and golf were excellent.

Brilliantly positioned for walks around the village and on the beach. Jackson Cottage felt like a 'home from home' - we wished we were staying longer. This is why we are going back again.

First class in all respects, we will be back as soon as possible. The trouble is this is a hidden jewel and I want to keep it a secret, but I also want to tell everyone. The cottage was better than the book says, and the beaches in the area are some of the best I have seen.

On arrival we found that the owners had erected a Christmas tree complete with lights and had decorated the property with real holly (it was Xmas). You couldn't really ask for more. It was so good, we've already booked for Xmas in 2006 - 2 weeks this time!

In a lovely position as we were able to clearly see the sea and look out onto the street. Very good position for all the amenities of Alnmouth.

It was all good and we would do it again and go back to Jackson cottage, thank you very much.

We really enjoyed our stay in Alnmouth, everything was perfect - the cottage was beautiful, very clean well kept and a perfect base for exploring. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in Northumberland.

The kids particularly liked the rock pooling on the beach. The area was unspoilt and yet had plenty of amenities. Lots of eating places. Having a deli/grocer 20 m away was brilliant. We used the bus services alot and these were very good - hourly to Alnwick and Amble.

We thought the area around Alnmouth, the scenery and beaches were fantastic. We really like Northumbria, so much so, we are thinking of living there!!!

The excellent nearby beach, and our boat trip around the Farne Islands.

Position of the property and the local facilities - great for children but completely unspoilt by commercical ventures.

The best meal we had out was at the Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel at Embleton - excellent food and very good value for money.
