Lovely converted barn holiday cottage on a working farm that is managed by the owners. The owners leave you to your own devices & indeed we only met them on our morning of leaving. Cottage clean & tidy with all utensils you will need for a weeks Holliday. Only thing’s missing were a cottage information pack, we’ve stayed in about 20 holiday cottages & this is the 1st one to have not had an information pack or indeed a welcome pack. The hot tub is a lovely addition to the cottage & it now has got privacy screens from the other cottages. A good cottage in a great location.

A perfect stay.Cottage is perfect and the hot tub brilliant. Such a peaceful quiet place. Loved seeing the farm animals and loved seeing the hens. Had a visit from the farm dog and cat too. Well equipped kitchen and lovely comfortable bed. Local beaches are great too and so a few beautiful sunsets. Owners are lovely. Looking forward to going back again. Highly recommended

We have just returned from a very relaxing week at Isallt cottage. We were really pleased with the accommodation and it had everything we needed for a family of four. There were some dishwashing tablets, tea towels, washing up liquid left in the kitchen and liquid hand soap in both bathrooms. You will need to provide everything else and the bigger supermarkets, such as Tesco, Lidli and Aldi are a 20 minute drive away in Porthmadog. The owners are super friendly and just leave you to get on with your break. The hot tub was an added bonus and much needed after a walk up Snowdon! There is a lovely walk to the beach from the cottage, which took us 15 minutes, across the fields and railway line. The beaches are lovely, soft sand and we saw some amazing sunsets. We recommend the fish and chip's from the Dolphin fish bar in Barmouth. Tony's pizza was okay but nothing special....although the chips were good. We had a meal at the Victoria Inn, which 2 out of 4 of us enjoyed, the 2 being the ones who ordered the burger! We will be booking again!

Stayed in isallt cottage for 4 nights. I was very impressed. Very cosy and very comfortable. Especially loved the the reclining chairs. Everything we needed was available. Apart from food. Be prepared as you will need to travel a little for shopping. If wanting a takeaway Tony’s is yummy. My son loved the chickens, they visited us everyday. The hot tub is amazing, totally added bonus at the end of a day running up and down the sand dunes with my son. North Wales is truly a beautiful place and isallt is about a mile from the beach. You can walk to the beach in about 20 minutes. In fact there are beautiful beaches everywhere but you will need a car. Unfortunately a lot of activities were closed due to covid but we didn’t mind. I will be returning again. Just the holiday we needed.

We arrived at Issalt after a long drive and as soon as we entered the property it was cosy and welcoming! Sara came to check on us on our second day which we really appreciated, Pip our dog certainly liked her! She made me, my sister and Pip feel so welcome and made it clear if we needed anything to just ask. We loved staying on the farm, as animal lovers we made the most of the experience and said hello to some brand new lambs! The farm is situated in such a beautiful spot a perfect base for lots of exploring nearby. After lots of walking what more could you want than to sit in a hot tub and admire the view, including a beautiful sunset. The beds were so comfy and the house had everything you could possibly need. We hope to come back! Thanks again for a lovely stay, it was just what we needed!

I informed the owners of my time of arrival, got there at 3pm but the house was very cold. Was 2 degrees outside. The heating started 30 minutes later. The kitchen cabinets were greasy brown and the rug, sofa and carpets were very dirty. I hired the cottage via sykes. The cottage is literally next door to a cows shed and smells so nasty. They also have a chemical room attached with smells of cows feeding products. You couldn’t really enjoy the hot tub or open windows as flies were coming in the cottage and really strong poo smell . No coffee, no milk no hospitality from the owners at all. They were very annoyed I complained about the cleanliness and they didn’t clean anything. Filthy place.

Feel sadly disappointed, lacking in attention to detail. We were due to arrive late on Friday and so I contacted the owner who said the key would be left in the door so we could just walk in and feel at home. Our friends arrived earlier than us and were unable to get into the property, the weather was not good and we had made long journeys on motor bikes so our friends had to shelter in the cold shower block reserved for the caravan site, sadly I received no telephone call to let me know the key had been left behind the flower pot?? Before we arrived the owner arrived and let our friends in and turned up the heating as well as then leaving 2 dishwasher tablets and topped up the instant coffee. There were no dishcloths provided and as the weather was particularly bad the lack of heating in the morning was not appriciated as the heating is on a timer and there is no ability to override. We read throug the muddled imformation pack after a search, which said if we want heating on there would be an extra charge. The house was clean but there were a few things that were broke or not up to our exacting standards and as I said, all was adequate, but again the attention to detail was lacking making us feel that this was a money maker business, and maybe lacking in a passion or care for this very qaint little cottage. The pictures are also a little deceiving as they make the place look bigger than it actually is and our friends were hoping to push the two singles together as in the photos, however the rooms and bed had been changed sadly. The farm was also a bit of a mess, (I have lived on a farm) the rubbish had also not been collected and after the winds, was then strewn around, but at least that was tidied once we returned form our day out on Saturday. The hot tub was also clean and hot thankfully warming us after being chilled to the bones.

We had a fabulous week here. The cottage was spotless and very comfortable, it had everything we needed. The weather was amazing so we were able to explore the area, some fabulous beaches, coastal walks, and a local waterfall. We even climbed Snowdon!! It half killed me but a lovely refreshing shower and a cold beer on the patio once back at the farm finished the day nicely. Thanks for a wonderful week away.

I stayed her with my husband, daughter and dog and it made a perfect base for our busy holiday. The cottage is beautifully decorated and furnished and has everything you need. We cooked most nights and found the kitchen well equipped for all our needs. The views from the cottage and adjacent campsite are fantastic. The location is ideal allowing us to visit all the places we had planned. Can highly recommend mountain biking at Coed-y-Brenin, Zip World Caverns at Blanaeu Ffestiniog, the beach (and ice creams) at Criccieth and a hike up Snowdon. Had a fab week and would certainly visit again.

Lovely place to stay with easy access to so many fantastic activities. We were only here for a week, but we crammed a lot in. The cottage had everything we needed and the owners were very friendly. We would definitely stay here again if we go back to this area.

This was such a wonderful spot for a holiday, with lots of beautiful walks, a lovely little harbour and beach a very short distance away. The excellent standard of the cottage made it a delight to come home to. There was plenty to see and do, people were warm and friendly and the scenery was staggering - made you want to keep stopping for a photograph. We would highly recommend Isallt and we shall certainly go back again.

Rated by Mrs Pinkham reviewed on 20th September 2015

The holiday accommodation was excellent and one of the best cottages we have stayed in. It was very well presented and a generously equipped kitchen added to the experience. All in all a brilliant place to stay.

Rated by Mrs Rogers reviewed on 16th August 2015

Whilst the owners were very polite and friendly, the house (Isallt) was attached to the cowshed, and the cows were intermittently but very frequently banging against the joining wall all night so we didn't get much sleep. We took two small dogs and every time they left a 'package' we cleared it up - but the owners dogs kept coming into the garden and leaving numerous packages. We did bring this up with the owners because we felt it hypocritical that they have strict rules around dogs and their fouling, and yet they let their dogs come and 'poo' in the garden which you have paid to enjoy. The double bed in the main room allows for no room at each side which creates a high level of difficulty in getting in/out of the bed - suggest replacing bed with a divan and no bedstead at the bottom which would make things easier. Having said all the above, the house was finished to a very high standard, and the owners have put a lot of love and effort into it which certainly shows. Good standard of accommodation and furnishings, and the kitchen was well equipped. We did accidentally leave behind my husbands pen (which was part of a set presented to him on his retirement - so whilst expensive it also has massive sentimental value). We spoke to the owner who had found the pen, and explained the value of it to us, and even though she agreed to send it to us - we have not received it to date. I think had she sent the pen we would have possibly overlooked some of the issues we found whilst we there.

Rated by Mrs Strange reviewed on 1st May 2015

A beautiful cottage with everything you could possibly need. A home away from home except with stunning scenery and fantastic hosts. The owners did so much to make us all feel welcome on their farm. My son enjoyed playing farmers helper feeding the cows and sheep and bottle feeding the lambs. Even the weather was kind to us and the sun shone most of the time. I would love to go back to the cottage again and would certainly recommend it to family and friends.

The holiday was excellent, we particularly liked the closed in area where the dog could roam around without her wandering off. It was lovely and quiet and the cottage was very well equipped, lovely and warm.

A very friendly host. Very cosy and comfortable property and everything is provided. A good bed and furniture, after a good day walking you can relax on the sofa or garden furniture and at night there is a good bed to sleep in. Bathroom is well equipped with a good shower over the bath. Very friendly people overall and good views to see.

The accommodation was in a great location, with beaches and other great attractions in great proximity. It was thoroughly clean, and very well equipped.

Rated by Mrs Thomason reviewed on 10th September 2013

The property was fantastic, the owner had thought of everything and it was a real home from home. Ideal for taking babies/toddlers as there were 2 stair gates, a cot & highchair. The garden is also fully enclosed but next to a shed so we often had a calf and lamb popping their heads over the fence. Do not miss the ice cream shop by the castle - Hufenfa'r Castell.

Rated by Mrs Donbavand reviewed on 8th June 2013

We have just returned from Isallt today. The property was fabulous. It is more spacious than the photos convey with everything you could need to make you feel that you are at home. It was furnished and decorated very tastefully. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped for self catering, ie. pans, knifes, baking trays, crockery etc so there is no need for eating out if you do not want to. It is ideal for children as there are 2 stairgates, a highchair and a travel cot. (We actually brought our own Hauck travel cot which was the same as the one provided. We find it necessary to use our regular cot mattress with it as the travel cot mattress provided is quite thin and hard.) There is an enclosed garden so it is safe for the children to play, with the added bonus of a calf and lamb who live in a shed next to the garden. My son was able to feed the calf one day which he loved. My biggest recommendation for this region is the ice cream shop in Harlech - it is just up the hill from the castle. It is truly amazing ice cream, better than any I've ever had anywhere in the world. We went 3 days in a row, was too embarrassed to go for a 4th time!!

We stayed in this wonderful cottage for a week. We had a lovely welcome from the owners on our first day. They also had dogs on the working farm, so my children loved seeing their dogs on a daily basis and looking out onto the fields at the sheep and horses. The cottage had absolutely everything in it you would need, was very clean and decorated beautifully with all the features of the barn giving it a little bit of charm too. We had wonderful weather whilst we were there, which was a bonus. We would walk (about 15mins) or drive (2 mins) down to the beach every day to walk the dog, which he loved. One side of the beach was specifically allocated for dog owners, which was great. We had some lovely days out as well, a fantastic base to stay whilst exploring snowdonia.

This was a lovely cottage, in a beautiful location. We were made to feel welcome and the cottage was like home from home with everything in it that you could possibly want. It also had a cosy feel to it. We visited the beach which is dog friendly and only about a 15 minute walk, or two minute drive from the cottage most days. Lots to see and do in the area, we did not get to do everything we wanted to do in the week we were there. Would definately return again and also recommend to family and friends.

We really couldn't fault the cottage or the holiday that we had. We really enjoyed our honeymoon even with two small boys to occupy. After the stress of the wedding it was such a relief to find such a peaceful place to relax. Thank you so much, both owners and Sykes Cottages for such a smooth and easy way to holiday.
