This house is well situated in its well kept gardens and many seating areas to chill with family both during the day and evening, big enough for children to run around and play around in. Nice little park at the bottom of the garden also. The pool is a great size and well maintained and very clean.{ shame the pump broke and we had no heat in it for four days of our stay} but the keeper sorted the problem the day before we left and it needed 24hrs to heat back up as it is a large pool. Sauna was great left you feeling totally cleansed. Everything you needed was all provide within the home. Just need your own towels for the pool area. The one main problem was that the wifi did not reach to the anix rooms at all. Beautiful views not far from supermarkets, nice food at the pub down the road. I would suggest going to see Puzzlewood only about 40 minutes drive away. It was a pleasure staying at this lovely country home. Enjoyed our times with 12 adults and 10 children Greeat time

My wife and I arrived on the 7th June 2019 to prepare for other family members arriving to help us celebrate our 45th anniversary. We were met by Pat who was brilliant in explaining everything about the house / pool etc. She ensured that we had her contact number in case of assistance. The weather could have been better in June but the wonderful indoor pool took away the disappointment in not being able to have a BBQ / play in the garden etc. The actual facilities in the property were 100% - They have thought of everything to assist in making certain you can entertain properly ie - serving dishes / glasses etc etc etc. Nothing has been left to chance. The other beauty is the 2 dishwashers to cater for the amount of people that could be in the house. We were a party of 13 aged between 3 years and 73 years therefore we had more than enough space for everyone. On our final day, Pat was there to ensure everything had gone well. We never felt rushed to leave, albeit we were ready as we knew that the house had to be vacated by 10am. If you have a large party to cater for, this is the house to do it. Clean / bright and quiet with the added attraction of the indoor pool and games room (complete with a beer fridge!....supply your own beer of course!) All we can say on behalf of our family - thank you!

We and several other couples rented The Croft for one of our periodic reunions (and had an absolutely splendid time!). The house and setting are lovely, and the surrounding countryside is absolutely beautiful. The pool is a decent size and the jacuzzi and sauna a real bonus. Where I agree with some other reviews is that the splendor of the house and grounds is at risk of being somewhat diminished by a lack of attention to small but important details. The two TVs are decent (but not smart so basic freeview channels only and no streaming) but the DVD players were ancient, poorly setup (SCART cables in 2018?) and faulty. I think I was probably the first person in years to change the batteries in the non-functioning remote for one of them judging by the state of the old batteries but even then the player was still temperamental. There was no mesh/wi-fi repeaters so most of the house/site had no wi-fi coverage. This would always be an issue in todays connected world but given that there is absolutely no 3/4G and barely any phone signal in the location it was a real headache. Most of the bathrooms had small patches of mould in the shower enclosures some of which had seen better days. Other less significant issues still niggled. There were unused picture hooks on bare walls which was a tad strange, quite a few light bulbs were missing, towels supplied were small and poor quality. The pool room was great fun but only had two usable cues (even they had dodgy tips) and no rests. Jacuzzi instructions were scrawled on a piece of paper and sellotaped to the window etc. Not earth-shattering but a bit at odds with the high quality of the house itself. As I have said, we had a great time at The Croft (and I'm sure we'll be back!) but 1 weeks rental spent on a bit of maintenance and upkeep and a bit of investment in a few technical upgrades (you can buy a couple of decent smart Blu-ray players and fit mesh wi-fi across the site for about £500) would make a real difference and do the wonderful house and grounds justice and make The Croft a definite 5 star experience.

Overall a really nice family location with fabulous pool, sauna, gym, jacuzzi and I would definitely recommend it and go again. The main building is nicely decorated with a huge TV in the living room, a large kitchen with Aga, separate cooker and 2 dishwashers! There were a couple of niggly things that needed sorting out like the broadband not working (wouldn't have bothered packing my laptop if I'd known), the shower tray waste in my room was either blocked or not sufficient for the high water pressure and filled ankle deep, a few of the showers seemed a bit temperamental I'm told, one had a leak. The extractor fan didn't work either in the Jack and Jill bathroom. Just a little bit of maintenance would have made this 5 star.

This is a huge house in a beautiful position. There were 20+ of the family aged 13 to 80 years and we all had a great time, swimming ( good size), jaccusi, sauna, exercise gym, pool table, large lawns, with games, all in first class condition. Fully equipped large kitchen, large dining room, comfortable lounges. Everything you could need for a large group. We had a fantastic time and are considering booking again for the next big family DO in 2020.

The space at The Croft was excellent. All of the rooms were used, we all loved the house, but the pool, hot tub and sauna made this family break a real treat. We all had a great time and want to return!

Although I would recommend it to anyone, we loved it so much we wished it could be our best kept secret to ensure availability for us. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by the owner we felt at home. The Croft is in a beautiful setting and the house did not disappoint. It was well equipped with everything we could possibly need for a large family gathering. The pool house was the icing on a very scrumptious cake.

Rated by Mrs Edwards reviewed on 2nd December 2015

The Croft was fantastic, and easily accommodated our family party of 24 (all ages) with plenty of space for everyone. Catering was easy with the size of the kitchen and storage space. Everyone loved the pool area which was kept spotlessly clean and the generous size meant that lots of the family could go in together. The owner was very approachable and always on hand for queries. We all had a wonderful time!

It was spacious, comfortable and well-equipped, a home with all the bells and whistles. The garden and general surroundings are stunningly beautiful. The extensive patio off the indoor pool is perfect for outdoor entertaining and a dining room that comfortably sits 24 made indoor entertaining easy.

The house was beautiful, and the pool made the holiday for everyone. We were a party of 24, ranging from 3 to 83yrs celebrating a 70th birthday and the house was a perfect spot to do this, it had lots of space, never felt cramped and there was always somewhere to find a bit of peace. Would book again.

Rated by Mrs Pearce reviewed on 30th May 2015

The house was excellent for a large gathering of friends and family where it was really useful to have lots of bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchen was great and the big dining room made the event really special. The setting is beautiful and we wanted good walks which we found easily straight from the house as well as in the area of course. The swimming pool was really great, a good size, very clean and well maintained which the whole party enjoyed it. We were a very mixed group with ages from 22 months to 86 years and every one enjoyed the week. Good weather allowed us to sit on the patio, just perfect for a special birthday week.

Property was very clean, tidy and warm. Cooking and dining facilities were excellent. All 18 of us loved the garden, swimming pool and one evening we enjoyed an excellent BBQ. The leader of the cleaning team could not have been more helpful and the owner recommended two excellent places to eat, especially 'Food for Thought' at Peterchurch. We spent each day out walking in the truly beautiful countryside with its unusual and distinctive churches. Do not miss Arthur's Stone, a 5,000 year old burial chamber near Dorstone.

I have just returned from a family holiday at The Croft. Large house, enough room for our family of 23. However, so many flies in and around the house, made it very difficult when cooking and preparing food. The 2 main windows in the kitchen did not open, we understood we were in a rural location near to a farm, however, flie screens would of helped matters. 1 shower in the en-suite did not work, broken paving slabs on the patio, no towels or bin liners in rooms and bathrooms on arrival, we also had to wash patio furniture as it was very dirty on our arrival. Swimming pool was great but, sauna had a broken seat with nails showing, this had to be fixed during our stay. Bedroom with 3 single beds was shared by 3 young girls, the window was held open by a small bin. I would recommend this house rental, but improvements need to be made.

What can I say, The Croft was better than I could have imagined. The party of 21 adults and one very well behaved baby could not have wished for better accommodation. The Croft was situated in the most beautiful of countryside,it was stunning. We were made very welcome by the caretaker, she showed us around the property, instructing us on all necessary appliances. All facilities; games room, reception rooms, pool, in fact everything was there for us to enjoy. For those wishing to have a holiday for a large party I would strongly recommended The Croft. Book early otherwise you will be disappointed.

Stayed here as part of a wedding party in March 2012. Amazing property and amenities - gorgeous pool, jacuzzi and sauna!! We stayed in the annexe which gave us our own lounge, kitchen and private space. Rooms are clean and bathrooms spacious and modern on the whole. The grounds are lovely - we had such hot weather that we ended up on the veranda for the reception drinks and this made for some lovely photographs too. We had the whole reception back at the house and the catering was done in the huge fully equipped kitchen - 2 dishwashers were very welcome!! Another fridge or capacity to chill champagne and drinks (and a bigger ice machine) would have made it even better but for a normal holiday it had everything you could ask for and more. A lovely part of the world and the views from the house were divine. Highly recommended!

It was all fantastic! Lovely welcome with cakes etc and I particularly liked the quick, helpful tour by the owner. We loved the pool area and spent most of the weekend in there. A beautiful place, we would love to go back!

The Croft is a stunning property, allowing large family gatherings to stay and play together in total comfort. Everyone I spoke to at Sykes was most friendly and helpful. Thank you!

The accommodation was as advertised and met our needs. The kitchen was well equipped and had a welcome pack of essentials and cakes. The owner was there to meet us and show us around the house and how things worked. She also saved us money on our groceries with her advice. We made full use of the pool and jacuzzi which was so enjoyable and well equipped for children and adults.

We stayed here with family while celebrating my Mum's 60th birthday. The property far exceeded our expectations. It is huge, with plenty of bedrooms and lounges to accommodate everyone. The highlight was the amazing pool, with sauna and jacuzzi. The kids loved playing in it, especially as there were lots of pool toys too. It was a nice touch for the owners to leave cake and basic provisions. We arranged an online shop but there is a local farm shop where you can get eggs and things. Would not hesitate to recommend this place and would love to visit again.

We booked The Croft as a surprise for our Grandparents who were celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary - they were bowled over by the place. Although there were 21 of us in total there was plenty of space and it did not feel at all crowded. The games room and pool were a particular hit with all the guests - ages 4 to 83! We would love to go back!

Somewhere fabulous for the whole family to get together from all parts of the UK. A great location and a great property to stay in. We received a lovely welcome gifts of cakes & fresh bread - a super touch for arrival. This was a very clean property.

We booked this property for a family break with 6 families in total, with kids ranging from 3 years to 17. The owner advised us that the letting of this property is a recent venture however she does a fantastic job. There were homemade cakes, flowers and some basic groceries provided for us on our arrival which was an unpected bonus. The layout of the premises was perfect for our mixed family group, there were two rooms away from the main house with their own small living room and staircase which was perfect for Mum and eldest Aunty to escape the noise of the main house. The pool was the biggest success of the week, lovely size, immaculately kept with it's own changing rooms, shower and toilet. Also within the building a sauna and mini gym above. The kids loved having this to themselves for the week, there are patio doors which open out onto the patio area too. On our arrival a huge brand new trampoline with safety net was being put up which the kids made full use of. The grounds the property are in, are lovely and offer plenty of room for the kids to wander round and explore. We set the kids a treasure hunt on a few occasions and this was great entertainment for them. The games room with pool table was also a hit and used all times day and night. The property is quite remote and it's around 10 mile round trip to a fair size supermarket. However there is a local shop around a mile and half away. I would recommend getting online shop delivered as we did, Sainsburys, Tesco and Asda all deliver to this property. The views are something to mention too, spectacular. Overall we had the best family holiday I think we've had to date, the kids didn't even want to leave for the first few days. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place and would love to book again.

Very homely and spacious house, well equipped. Lots of extras like music system available for most downstairs rooms. Swimming pool and sauna were wonderful. Everything was very clean and well presented. Loved the garden. Would definitely stay there again.
