What a gorgeous place!! There was only 2 of us and the dog staying last week. The cottage is surprisingly big. Easily sleeping 6. and there is a 2nd toilet downstairs in the utility that would help there. But for us, it felt huge. Tastefully decorated and tiled floors downstairs that make it easy to clean wet paws as they come in from the garden. It was soo relaxed, the farm had quite a few caravans on but hardly saw anyone... but then again, if you are out everyday, you wouldn't. The surrounding area is lovely. I have never been this part of wales before. The beaches are fantastic and the dog loved them. ( there are beach restrictions where dogs can go but these are lift after 30th Sept) but saying that the restrictions didn't impact us at all. Some lovely walks in the area too. recommend Cwmorthin Waterfalls and the slate quarrys Back to the cottage... everything was clean, bedding and towels were lovely. Plenty of things in kitchen. View were gorgous and we were lucky as the weather was brilliant and had some stunning sunsets. I would defo go back... and stay here.

My family had an very welcome winter break at this cosy cottage which was full of character. The cottage was very clean and well equipped, we particularly liked the wood burning fire even though the central heating kept the cottage nice and warm. The 3 bedrooms were very spacious with 2 double beds. The Wifi worked great for the kids all holiday. The owner was very friendly and welcoming and we would definitely stay here again. We know the area very well and the fantastic Harlech beach is only a short car ride away. We love this beach in Summer or Winter. We went into Barmouth a couple of evenings and although a quiet time of the year we found some life, live music and excellent food at the Last Inn.

We had a magnificent week as the guests of a lovely family on their working farm. A great deal of thought and effort has gone into this property catering for everything you could possibly need for your stay. We cooked every evening and weren't short of anything in the modern kitchen which had every pot pan and implement you could need. The cottage is extremely spacious compered to other "cottages" - it's more of a house! A large lounge to sit back and watch TV or sit up to the large dinning table. The wifi was excellent and not the usual shared connection you usually get. You can walk down to the local beach or 5 mins to Harlech beach. Down the coast is the amazing Shell Island beach but don't pay to go on the "island" - drive to Llandddwywe and park there. You walk up to the same beach. Up the coast there are more beaches and walks - black sands is where you can park on the beach believe or not. There are some lovely walks around the farm and into the village. We have only just got a dog and this place was perfect - he walked all day and slept all night at the bottom of the steps with the fire guard strategically placed on the steps to let him know he couldn't come upstairs. He was so content with his water and bed on the stone floor and was close enough to know he was still loved and perfectly happy as we did worry about not using a cage anymore. There was a door we could shut so he didn't wander at night - it was absolutely perfect for him and us. We have fallen in love with this area of Wales and will definitely return to this wonderful cottage

We loved the cottage, it was beautiful and so well kept. It had everything we needed and was so homely. It was in a stunning location. My eldest son loved being on a farm and seeing the cows and sheep practically in our back garden! We really didn't want to leave and will definitely recommend Hen Argoed.

Hen Argeod is a truly beautiful farm cottage, waking up each morning to the sound of baby lambs and cows was a fantastic experience especially for us town dwellers! A brilliantly stocked kitchen and a real home from home, a perfect location for discovering North Wales.

The cottage and its surrounding area are beautiful. The owners were friendly and helpful. Six of us stayed in the cottage, including a 5yr old and a 2yr old. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Argoed Farm and would definitely stay there again when we next visit Wales.

It was very comfy and cosy. Very quiet, nice and relaxing with everything that you needed. An ideal base for the area which had lots to see and do. Felt very relaxed after our break away, the children loved it.

Rated by Ms Cook reviewed on 31st August 2014

The cottage and view was amazing, it's such a comfortable cottage you feel at home instantly! Everything in the cottage was great and provided a lot of the necessities needed! Very close shops and towns for days out and the beach isn't far either! Couldn't have asked for a better cottage or holiday!

Rated by Mrs Mugleston reviewed on 24th August 2014

The cottage was clean, well furnished and had everything we needed for a family holiday - a home from home, but with a little luxury and plenty of character. The garden area at the back was lovely for our eldest son to play in. The location was superb - quiet and with lovely rural & sea views, but easy to find and handy for Barmouth, Harlech and for exploring the whole area. The owner was welcoming and friendly but unobtrusive (yet on site if there should be any query).

Rated by Mrs Rodgers reviewed on 24th June 2014

The cottage was beautiful and couldn't have had a more picturesque position.

This was perhaps the best appointed cottage we have stayed in. It was clean well-furnished and the kitchen was much better equipped than any others we have used.

Rated by Mrs Moseley reviewed on 22nd July 2013

We loved the cottage, very clean and well equipped kitchen, rooms were generous compared with other cottages we have stayed in. Ideal for exploring this area of Wales, the cottage and area is ideal for walkers. You can have a day off from driving and jump on the train, 10 minute walk from the cottage, fantastic coastal views from the train. Only down side is there are no views from the sitting room.

Brilliant location for a family to stay for a holiday. Super views over Shell Island and Llandanwg. Near to the shops at Harlech in North Wales and other Tourist Attractions. The cottage provided every amenity. A great atmosphere in which to unwind and relax.

The owners were lovely and so helpful. The cottage was really clean and beautifully decorated. It was a fabulous cottage and location.

Rated by Mrs Jacks reviewed on 21st April 2013

Knowing the area extremily well and just wanting a quiet winter half term break with our five and six year olds, we were far from disappointed with Hen argoed. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Loved the history of the cottage with its modern amenities. As we experienced fab weather for February, the view at the top of the lane in a morning, and out of the bathroom window(on tip toes) set you up for the day. Can't fault it and wouldn't hesitate in going again or recommending.

Rated by Ms Scott-wilding reviewed on 10th September 2012

Period character of the cottage and the log fire. The home owner was very helpful and had prepared the cottage well - even to setting up the log fire. The ceilings all had real wood beams. The views from the farm were stunning.

Everything about this cottage and the welcome from the owners was fantastic! The cottage, surroundings and services were the best.

Rated by Mr Thomas reviewed on 29th July 2012

Beautiful character cottage. Stunning wood burning stove. Cosy with a glass of wine on a chilly night. Owners very very friendly and kind. Original wood beams, thick stone walls but with all modernities such as washing machine and dishwasher. Our little boy loved the farm itself and various visitors like Jess the sheepdog, the cat and other little dog. Fabulous to see the cows and sheep from his bedroom window. Great for families. The children will love being ner all he animals Great for couples wanting a romantic getaway too.

Everything was ready for our arrival with no problems gaining acess to the cottage. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and stocked with all equipment you needed including coal and firewood for the fire which was made up for our arrival. The bedding and towels were freashly laundered and clean. As I have been going to that area of North Wales for a long time I know about the stunning views and surrounding beauty spots. The local shops are easy to get to with larger supermarkets within half an hours drive. The whole time of our stay was very relaxed and it was great to sit in front of the fire at night and feel cosy as our stay was in the autumn and the nights are cold.I can honestly say that there was nothing about our stay that we didn't enjoy.

Rated by Mrs Pearce reviewed on 7th June 2011

Fantastic property in a wonderful location. Excellent for families, especially the enclosed courtyard and separate garden and great to be on a working farm. Owners lovely and very helpful. Within easy reach of most popular places to visit and 2 minutes from the local beach and harbour. Plan to return with parents in the future.

Rated by Mrs Lev reviewed on 30th May 2011

When we arrived the beams and low ceilings brought a smile to our face. It was nice to drive up the track and see the farm animals around us and a working farm. The owners were very nice and let us get on with our holiday. The cottage is not for everyone but if you are looking for an old place with fire and character then this is the place. There is a pub in the village and Harlic is only just over a mile away which is slightly bigger. There are plenty of beaches nearby and a nice drive north takes you into lots of walking. We went in November and there were a lot of places closed which was a shame.

Rated by A FlipKey verified reviewer reviewed on 4th January 2011

The cottage was just what we were looking for - old, character and a fire. It was nice to see the farm animals around us each day. The owners were really nice and relaxed and made us feel relaxed about being on their farm.
