Staithes 0.75 miles. An attractive traditional, semi-detached sandstone cottage in the rural hamlet of Dalehouse, on the edge of the historic village of Staithes. This characterful Staithes cottage has been lovingly renovated with a contemporary feel, and provides bright, cheerful accommodation. The cosy dining room has French windows leading to a small private decked courtyard, and the spacious sitting room has views over woodland. This well-equipped Staithes cottage offers very comfortable family accommodation with easy access to Staithes itself, local beaches and beautiful walking trails. The fishing village of Staithes offers quaint, cobbled streets and a feeling of stepping back in time, as it is little changed since Captain Cook's day. This Staithes cottage adjoins a quiet country inn which provides good food and refreshments. Staying in this Staithes cottage, you will be well placed to visit the North York Moors and surrounding picturesque villages - be sure to try the steam railway which starts in Grosmont only 11 miles away over the moors.

The best views of the town can be enjoyed from the Cleveland Way which runs down the cliffside to the sea's edge.

Lovely clean, well equipped and comfortable cottage. Well positioned for exploring the coast and countryside of North Yorkshire. Faboulous pub next door with very friendly welcome and great food. The pub is very quiet and did not disturb us at all.

Very well appointed cottage. Had everything we needed for a weeks holiday.. One down side was no washing machine, If travelling with young children this could be a hinderance.. Cottage is in a beautiful, quiet rural village, very peaceful. right next door is the only pub in the village(great food). River cottage was very clean with lovely decor, beds were very comfortable The cottage has wifi, which is an additional cost..Also you dont get a mobile phone signal, but there is a payphone in the house and the pub, so it is not really too much of a problem.

The cottage was so clean and they had thought of everything, it was well worth the money. If you rent this cottage go to Runswick Bay, what a place.

We've had a lovely stay at River Cottage. The cottage was clean, had excellent furnishings, was well equipped and had a lovely little sun trap garden. We enjoyed visits to the pub next door.

River Cottage is very well decorated though out, comfortable furnishing with nice homely touches. We need not have worried about the noise from the pub next door, they were very considerate, we never heard any noise at the end of the evening and we enjoyed a few drinks and a meal there during our stay which we can recommend.

River Cottage is in a quiet location ideal if you want to totally switch off as no mobile phone coverage. Next door to a quiet country pub offering good food. However if you have disabilities the double bed which is on the floor would not suit you as you cannot get up or down my wife and I ended up sleeping separate still having to put two single mattresses on one bed for her to manage. The shower over bath could be difficult as no holding rail to assist. The seater settee very low and if you sat on it even lower as was bed settee you disapeared in it. The cottage smelt damp on arrival but once heating on it was OK. Some of the crockery was chipped, oven dishes cracked and frying pans not nice so didn't use could do with throwing away. With just a little upgrade this place could be really comfortable and a place to return to.

Fantastic location within easy reach of all the areas sights and attractions.Very comfortable and cosy property very well equipped and tastefully decorated to a very high standard.Located next to a brilliant country pub was a bonus!

Rated by Mr Dale reviewed on 27th August 2014

A really lovely cottage. Well equipped and cosy we felt very at home here. Some nice touches too with things like magazines and books for all to read. For us the only thing that let it down was the pub next door which aside from being very unfriendly towards us also created a large amount of noise on one of the nights with noisy loud smokers underneath our windows until the early hours. Aside from this we loved the location and the locals were so friendly we would definitely return.

Rated by TDCPCC reviewed on 18th April 2014

We loved everything about this holiday cottage. The overall size of the property was larger than expected and the layout was fabulous. The owners had thought of absolutely everything, could not ask for more. The décor was perfect. Location brilliant for exploring this part of the east coast by car or a short walk to Staithes. We would absolutely return to this cottage and would feel 100% confident in recommending to family and friends.

Rated by Mrs Schofield reviewed on 22nd March 2014

The cottage was in a lovely location, quiet yet adjacent to the local pub. A ten minute walk on Staithes meant we had a wider choice of eating and drinking establishments. Overall a lovely stay.

Ideally situated for our itinerary, spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable.

Rated by Ms Chambers reviewed on 8th July 2013

A delightful holiday cottage, extremely well equipped, and although next to the local pub, quiet and peaceful. The meals served were excellent although the only problem was that they stopped serving at 7.30.p.m. but there are plenty of options for eating out, the fish and chips near the pier at Saltburn and The Ship Inn at Saltburn are worth putting on your list. The cottage is ideally placed for Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Moors, etc. We used the cottage as a base for playing golf in the Redcar area and it was ideal. We would certainly recommend River Cottage for a quiet and relaxing stay.

Rated by Mr Appleton reviewed on 28th May 2013

Had a short break at River Cottage (3 nights) in early May. Thoroughly relaxing time and the cottage was beautifully appointed. Immaculately clean and good quality fixtures and fittings. Owners were a pleasure to deal with (my wife handled that!). They provided a high chair and travel cot for our 5 month old and a bottle of wine for the adults! Lovely location, pub friendly next door and the guest book revealed a good menu although we didn't eat there. Ideal spot to explore the Cleveland Coast - you can walk to Staithes, close to Whitby, Guisborough, North York Moors attractions, Robin Hoods Bay etc. No mobile signal was a blessing!

This was by far the best cottage we have stayed in. The standard was excellent and the owner has thought of everything. We would definitely stay here again.

Rated by Mr Beattie reviewed on 5th May 2013

We went for a Christmas break, from the South the journey is normally 5 hours, however this was a bad day to travel on, i think we went on the 22nd Dec, the journey was 8 hours of stop and start traffic with a rammed full car and the kids in the back. So we got there in the dark all hungry and tired and in need of stretching our legs. We opened the door and hoped it would be nice, well, WOW, it was the cleanest holiday cottage we have had in the north east, there was a very welcome bottle of wine in the fridge and the Christmas tree was up with the lights on and a few lamps on around the house, it was beautiful !!! all mod cons very modern and up to date decor, everything was so clean. the area so blissfully peaceful, the pub next door like a step back in time but thats how these pubs should be, very friendly locals and landlady made us very welcome, especially on Christmas day while we had our turkey cooking next door we popped in for a drink. Totally reccomend this cottage and will be coming again. Two slight criticisms, would of been good to have a washing machine, more so if we had been staying for two weeks, andthe sofas, not the most comfortable especially the sofa bed extremely painful thing to sit in. But wold not put us off coming again, it was a superb first class, five star Cottage and location.

Rated by M4PEY reviewed on 14th January 2013

We particularly liked the quiet location and it was nice to pop next door for a drink.

Rated by Mr Turner reviewed on 30th October 2012

Everything about this cottage is excellent, from it's comfort to its location. each room is well appointed and althought the garden area is small, it is more than adequit complete with patio table, chairs and bbq. the cottage was clean and the furnishings very good, there are two bedrooms one with a doublke and the other slightly smaller with twin beds. the location is very good, and handy for the moors and close to the coast. the pub next door is a bonus, the landlord and landlady make you very welcome, really good beer prices and the meals excellent. this cottage is a real gem and i would recommend.
