Wolfscastle is a village in Pembrokeshire, with a pub and restaurant both serving food, a shop, and a pottery where you can watch the potter at work and purchase some Welsh gifts. There is a mill close by at the foot of the Great Treffgarne Rocks, with a scenic woodland walk, a cafe and shops selling locally produced gifts and foods. Haverfordwest, the County town, offers a great shopping day out plus the chance to explore the castle, museum and river walks during the day or the bustling night life later on.

Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.

Reviews

We received a lovely welcome at the Old Stable, and were amazed at how every detail in the lovely converted barn was catered for. There were delicious welsh cakes, bathroom 'bits' and even a TV guide to make us feel at home. Wolfscastle is a lovely rural location, and the Pembrokeshire National Park only a 25 minutes easy drive away at most. Being so central in Pembrokeshire, you could easily get to any part of the coastal park, South, West or North. All had something fantastic to offer, including dog friendly beaches, except in some cases May - Sept. As dog lovers, the cottage owners are full of good advice on this subject and many others. Also there are towns with much to offer for everyone; St David's with its art, crafts and Cathedral, Narberth with some very classy shops and cafes. We particularly enjoyed our trip to the 'Creativity Cafe' there. 'The Bazaar' salvage and antiques yard also had lots of goodies to browse. Newport was another gem, with wonderful coastal views and some intriguing shops too, including the PWNC Bike Cafe with lots of veggie / vegan options and the best bacon sandwich ever! All in all it made for a wonderful holiday, with plenty of inspiration for another visit.

Our stay at The Old Stable @ New House Farm Cottages was amazing Cheryl and her family were absolutely brilliant. We stayed for Christmas 23rd to 27th Dec 2018. We chose this cottage for the lovely countryside location and proximity to Haverfordwest where we have friends and family. The location is also brilliant for trips to some of the amazing beaches and of course City of St David. Cheryl contacted us prior to our arrival welcoming us to the forthcoming stay. She advised about arrival times and was so kind to offer to decorate the cottage for Christmas (which we thought was a lovely kind gesture) which was tastefully decorated and made our Christmas that but more special. She offered to help us with anything prior to our arrival and answered a few queries we had about towels and bedding and HDMI connections so that we could bring our NOW TV :-) On arrival we found a selection of gifts for us (including Christmas crackers which we had forgot to bring!!!) and some fresh milk in the fridge which made settling in with so much easier. We were able to bring our dogs which was a HUGE bonus for us. The farm had plenty of space for small walks so that dogs can relieve themselves (whilst kept on a lead at all times as there were other pets around and the proximity to a working farm which is well justified) and the location of the cottage is relation to some great country and coastal walks is amazing. Which of course is why we were here with our dogs to enjoy the walking. The cottage was spotlessly clean and well stocked with everything you needed including little touches like a touch for walking the dogs in the dark! There was a lovely log burning fire with a generous supply of woods and scented kindling. Additionally wood was available for a small charge. The cottage has free view with plenty of channels, but as it was Christmas we wanted to bring our NOW TV and were able to hook up to the Wifi to stream this. The facilities include a laundry which we made use of saving on washing cloths when we got home, again another great benefit was we could hit the ground running on our return. There was also a hose so that we could wash down the dogs after walks. This was an amazing place for us to stay and we look forward to booking this cottage again in 2019.

This was our forth stay and and it was lovely to see the owner Paul & Cheryl both still working so hard to improve the accommodation as well as obviously still enjoying the experience. Why go there? Lovely dog friendly accommodation just a few miles off the A40 at Wolfscastle yet still quite. The extras, the owner's couldn't be more helpful recommending places to eat and drink both locally and thru out Pembrokeshire; wood burner (and wood); if you need it; laundry facilitates; DVDs Already looking forward to when we can stay again.

A cosy and clean cottage! Although small the space is really well laid out and has everything you need. We were made to feel very welcome with lots of nice little touches, like fresh flowers left on the table. I am looking forward to making a return trip already.

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, the hosts went the extra mile to ensure everything was in order and the property was spotlessly clean. We will return again as Pembrokeshire is a wonderful place to visit and the accommodation is central to visit most places.

Just the right size for two people and a small dog (just like us). The cottage is well placed for reaching walks and coastal locations. It was lovely and warm and very clean. Even the weather was kind to us!

A very warm welcome from the owner. The Old Stable was well furnished and spotlessly clean. Very comfortable bed and chairs. Lovely shower and thick fluffy towels. A welcome pack with lots of goodies was a lovely touch. Decorated with a Christmas tree and other items, it looked beautiful. Lovely log burner and we were given a large bag of logs with the owners compliments. Would recommend to friends and look forward to return visit.

Where to start. Firstly there is the location lovely quiet country lane, very quiet. You will be greeted with the warmest of welcomes. Lovely couple who really do care and what their guests to have the best time ever. Greeted at the gate nothing to much trouble. Shown around the cottage which was nothing more than 5 star, there is nothing you will want for here. I don’t think I have ever stayed somewhere so clean a proper little home from home. Fresh flowers, welsh cakes, amazing fluffy towels everything you could hope for. Well done Cheryl and Paul you have a lovely approach to your guests nothing is too much trouble we will be back for definite. The area is amazing; we went to cycle and cycle we did. Very changeling cycling but well worth it the scenery is stunning cant believe we have not been here before.

It was a beautiful little cottage set in the middle of the Pembrokeshire countryside. Perfect for exploring the area around St David's and Haverfordwest. Just what we wanted.

Rated by Mrs Bintliff reviewed on 19th November 2012

The cottage was of the highest standard. Everything you could need was provided. Little touches like fresh flowers, cake and refreshments were there on arrival for us. The owners wife was a kind caring lady who only wanted us to be happy she went of of her way to help us find places which were easy accessable for my disabled husband. On many occasions opened the gate and assisted parking which was right outside our. The cottage was situated in a courtyard with a good size garden at the end, ideal for active children and dogs.
