Reviews

An attractive and peaceful cottage, with two beautiful outside areas, and a cosy living room. There are good walks on the doorstep, and it's a short trip to attractions including Fountains Abbey and Knaresborough. We had a great time, and the visitors' book showed that everyone else who has rented the cottage over the last ten years has also enjoyed their stay.

This is the first time my husband and I have ever stayed in a cottage. We came for 3 days the cottage is set in a lovely quite area and has absolutely everything you would want a proper home from home. The owners are very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this cottage and if I were in this area again would stay here.

We have just come home from a weeks stay at Sun House this is a lovely warm and cosy cottage. The cottage is in tne centre if Ferrensby village. The cottage is of very high standard with a lovely garden where you get a visit every morning from the ducks coming in from the duck pond across the road. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday. Places of interest are all a short drive away Knareborough a lovely market town great walks by the river if you fancy a spot of lunch or just a hot chocolate the Black Mulberry cafe was just perfect. Harrogate spa town lovely shops and of course Betty's cafe is a must. We also visited Ripon again some lovely independant shops and the beautiful cathedral. Not far from Ripon we went to Pateley Bridge had a spot of lunch at Wildings which was lovely. A lot to see and do.

The cottage was beautiful with everything we could have wanted, it was spotlessly clean and I cannot recommend this cottage highly enough. We visited some beautiful places while we were there, it was pretty much central to all the areas we wanted to visit. Will definitely be making a return visit.

We enjoyed the beauty and peace of the area and the range of activities/places to visit. We received a very warm welcome from the owners of the cottage, and enjoyed coming home to our cottage each evening. We found the locals very welcoming and helpful.

Rated by Mrs Faulkner reviewed on 24th September 2013

Myself, my husband and our 8 month old son stayed in the Sun House for a week and it was just perfect - the owners were extremely helpful and we arranged pick up of the keys with no problem at all - after some useful instructions regarding the cottage, and some advice on what might be good to see/do, they left us to it for the week, on hand if we needed them for anything. The cottage was modern, clean, cosy and fully equipped with everything we needed - particularly liked the kitchen/dining area where we had most of our evening meals. We had a car so location was perfect really for visiting the local area, and driving to York and Harrogate. So much to see and do in the area, a week was not really long enough! It was a relaxing week, with the cottage providing a cosy 'homely' base for our holiday - it was just right for us and our baby son... but I suspect it would be perfect for a couple to have a romantic getaway!! Would love to go back!

Rated by A FlipKey verified reviewer reviewed on 28th August 2013

Lovely cottage, gardens and orchard and and Paul could not have been nicer. His restoration of the property was excellent and great attention was paid to little details inside the cottage. There was more than enough matching cutlery and dishes and all that one would require. The location was quiet and sheltered and we enjoyed our stay. Anyone wishing to go to York would be wise to take advantage of the Park and Ride system. We liked the cottage and Paul best and no negative points except if one only wanted a drink or a pub meal one would need to use the car.

Rated by A FlipKey verified reviewer reviewed on 22nd August 2013

This was a real 'cottage'; garden in full bloom and roses round the door. Certainly one of the best cottages that we have been too. Located in a good position for touring this part of Yorkshire with York only 45 minutes away. We particularly enjoyed Fountains Abbey. We would recommend this cottage wholeheartedly.

Rated by Mr Edge reviewed on 17th August 2013

In thirty odd years of staying in holiday cottages in the U.K, and abroad, The Sun House was one of best we have ever stayed in. The hosts were very friendly the standard of the cottage was outstanding.

Rated by Mr Phillips reviewed on 10th June 2013

We had a fantastic time - the location was ideal for seeing all the local area had to offer. As we had a car, it was simple to drive everywhere, and nowhere was too far. Perfect location for reaching nearby towns such as Harrogate and the City of York. Lots of places to visit outdoors if the weather is nice, but still loads to do if the weather is not so kind... a perfect break, particularly if you like your food - Yorkshire a foodie heaven!
