Reviews

The views from the cottage are superb, and the standard of the accommodation was excellent with everything you could reasonably need provided. The location is great, close enough to Buxton should you require shops, restaurants and people but remote enough to offer a feeling of isolation if that is what you prefer. As a base for Peak District activities it is ideal. A short drive to Bakewell and the Monsal Trail for bikes or easy walking and it is well placed for all levels of walking in and around the Goyt Valley and surrounding areas.

New Cottage Farm is a warm, well-equipped cottage in an outstanding location in the Peak District. This is our second time here.

Great cottage, has been refurbished to a high standard, nice an warm.

Rated by Mr Brown reviewed on 18th September 2015

The cottage was rather tardis-like; much more spacious on the inside than I could have believed from the outside! The views were spectacular (especially in the snow), and the wood burner made it feel really cosy and magical. Also, difficult to explain, but the cottage really felt like a 'true cottage' with its deep stone sills and chunky beams.

A delightful cottage in a beautiful location. The cottage was lovely and warm with the wood burning stove and the dining room provided a focus for family meals. This is a really wonderful place to stay.

This Cottage is in a fantastic location with breathtaking views. The Cottage was warm and comfortable and is very well equipped, just the ticket when the weather is a bit iffy. The location made touring very easy. The cottage was lovely and clean, with plenty of room for both seating and dining, plenty of slouching room for our tired legs!

Very clean, comfortable and quiet.

Very comfortable and spacious cottage, beautifully modernised with excellent views.

Rated by Mr Quinn reviewed on 6th July 2014

The position of the cottage was amazing with spectacular views all round. It was near to the main road but the double glazing in the cottage was sufficient to block that out. On the other three sides of the property there were rolling hills and valleys as far as the eye could see. Fantastic location! The wood burner made the sitting room very warm and cosy.

The cottage was perfect. It was like home from home as soon as we arrived. The owner was very kind. We cooked a lot and the kitchen was well equipped. The bedrooms were very comfortable, and the whole house was cosy and warm. It is very close to Buxton and other towns; an ideal situation to get away from it all and relax. We will be back again.

The cottage was excellent, modern facilities, tastefully decorated and very warm. The wood-burning stove was a joy, and made for cosy evenings in. The view across the valley was spectacular.

The location was lovely and the house was a delight. The owner went to a lot of trouble, was easy to contact and speak to, and the little things all helped to make us feel welcome.

Rated by Mrs Whiting reviewed on 28th August 2013

Lovely cottage with modern décor, perfect for a relaxing holiday. The wood burner tops it off on the chillier nights. We would definitely go back.

The location is just fantastic near to Buxton and other places to visit. Ideal for walking and the local pub sells amazing food and very warm hospitality. The owner of the property was very welcoming and met us at the gate as snow very deep. A welcome pack of bread, butter, wine and chocolates was most welcome after a long drive. We would certainly go again.

Rated by Mrs Holden reviewed on 20th February 2013

The cottage was the perfect setting for a quiet break with picturesque views from the bedrooms. It was finished to a high standard and had everything we need including a baby gate so the steep stairs were safe.

Rated by Mrs Edgeley reviewed on 7th January 2013

A lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings. Lovely that so much children's equipment (crockery/ bed guards etc) have been thought about. Thank you.

Rated by Mrs Hannon reviewed on 26th July 2012

The cottage was fantastic - very spacious and plenty big enough for 5 adults and the sitting room is almost in two halves so TV watching could happen at one end and a conversation in front of the fire at the other end. The owner was really helpful - turning out within 2 minutes in thick fog to guide us to the property. The cottage was equipped to a high standard and the decor was modern and tasteful. Above all the cottage was cosy and very comfortable with little finishing touches like a blanket warming on the radiator when we arrived, chocolates and wine. The 'starter pack' of wood lasted us our full 3 day stay. There were plenty of walking books and maps should they be needed. The views were amazing and the cottage stands alone so very peaceful. Amazing walks from the door step. Could not fault it or the welcome - we will be back and, will recommend to friends and wish the owners every success in their new venture!

Rated by Mrs Wright reviewed on 19th February 2012

The cottage has been renovated to a very high standard, all of the rooms were very comfortable and the views across open countryside stunning. The owners were very pleasant and accommodating. Location was also excellent being a short distance from Buxton and with lots of walking opportunities nearby.

Rated by Ms Thomas reviewed on 18th September 2011

This is a delightful cottage. The site of the cottage gave it excellent views over miles of countryside. Although isolated it was literally a 5 minute walk to the shop. It was close to many of the tourist sites that we wanted to visit. The cottage has been restored to a very high standard, the lounge in particular was very comfortable.

Rated by Dr Baker reviewed on 1st August 2011

The owner was a lovely man. Couldn't have asked for anything more. Would definitely come back. Superb house.
