Reviews

It was a beautiful cottage, in a quiet location with great views all around. A great base for exploring the surrounding area. It was very nicely decorated and very well equipped. We look forward to returning again in the future.

We stayed here for a week in order to visit the dales. What a wonderful cottage, excellent accomodation and an excellent location. We had all the facilities we could wish for including a welcome homemade cake and bottle of wine. The only neighbours were the horses, chickens and rabbits. It was so lovely and quiet but still within walking walking distance to the local pub which I can also highly recommend. If you book here you will not be disappointed. Thank you Maggie and Jon I could not have booked anywhere better.

This was a beautiful, well thought out holiday cottage conversion. One of the best we have stayed in. The property was in a very quiet and peaceful location and had a lovely outlook all round. Very handy for shopping in Bedale.

The holiday cottage was in a very quiet, peaceful and beautiful location just outside the village of Crakehall. It was a lovely cottage and yet wasn't far from nearby tourist attractions and local facilities. The area is great for walking and looking round the local villages. It is one of our favourite areas for a holiday.

Sceptre Cottage is a beautiful barn conversion situated near Bedale. The property was of a high standard; extremely clean, tidy and well presented. Everything had been catered for, even down to a BBQ, which we used on one of the sunny days! Very good range of leaflets and information supplied so you weren’t short of things to do. The owners were lovely and made us feel welcome; they showed our two boys the lambs in the field, and allowed them to feed the lambs. Our boys visited the lambs every day, (they would have been happy to sleep with them they were so attached!). They also enjoyed seeing the two horses that were in the field out the front of the cottage. All in all, it is an excellent accommodation and highly recommended!

We booked Sceptre Cottage to accommodate far flung family who were visiting us over Easter - they stayed there and we visited them in the day, ate with them, hunted Easter eggs, admired the horses, cooed over the lambs. It is in a delightful setting - unbelievably peaceful, surrounded by fields with views across to the Wensleydale railway line (trains only during the day, feels just like something out of the Railway Children!). The cottage itself is warm and welcoming, and the owners couldn't be more helpful. A massive recommendation to anyone who wants a comfortable and peaceful base in a lovely part of the world. We shall certainly use it again for extended groups of visitors.

My husband and I had a wonderful week in a beautiful cottage, Maggie the owner couldn't have been more helpful, it was in a perfect location with all mod cons, would definitely recommend it to others.

We had an absolutely wonderful holiday in a very spacious beautiful cottage. Being situated at the end of a 1/4 mile drive was perfect, so peaceful. Near enough to the A1 for easy access to and from the cottage, so you did not have mile upon mile of country lanes to get to it, just perfect!

Rated by Mr Harris reviewed on 16th September 2013

The cottage and surrounding area was very good and the owner was very helpful. The cottage was very comfortable and you could want for nothing, even the weather was brilliant. We would definitely stay there again. The railway was no bother at all, it was nice to see it go past.

This cottage is a real gem of a find. It is finished to a very high standard and is situated in an idyllic setting. There is plenty of room within the cottage ( we were a party of four adults and one child) and the cottage is ideally situated for exploring the Dales and other parts of Yorkshire. The owners were very welcoming and the baby lambs were a firm favourite with our daughter. We came home today and we are already planning our next visit!!

Where would you like me to start? I don't think there is enough space here to write about Sceptre Cottage. Thanks must go to the owners, a great couple, their hard work has paid off, as we say in Fijian, Wananavu.

Decided to rent this cottage so we could spend some time with our grandson who is a soldier based in Catterick. Beautiful immaculate cottage in a lovely peaceful setting. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to get away from the world and have quality time . Jonny and Maggie (owners ) are very helpful and even left a welcome card and bottle of wine. Will be returning over and over again

We stayed in 2011 and the owners were so wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. Being Australian and not knowing the area they came out late at night and took us to the property. We love it so much we will be coming back in 2013.
