We had this cottage booked for next weekend for 7 nights. Received email from Sykes last night saying they had to cancel, due to the owner. After calling Sykes it turns out the owner had now decided they were going to stay there for our dates. They had full payment, left us with 8 days notice. After almost 1hr30 mins on phone with Sykes to get full refund, we were told refund can take up to 10 days!!! We are to await a confirmation email. No reference number given, only told to wait!!! How is this acceptable?! I have used other cottage rental websites and never experienced this. I strongly advise everyone to avoid this property, as it is clearly the owner who feels they can treat their customer like this. Totally unacceptable. Read small print re cancellation policies when booking on Sykes, so that you are fully aware that your holiday can be ruined with 7 days notice, and no garuntee that you will have refund back in time to book again. Beware!!

Lovely home from home. This house is down a track from a country road. It’s surrounded by fields with sheep and cows who wander round the house. No Wi-fi and phone signal hit or miss but not a problem. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms, perfect for my husband and me and our son who came with us. Countryside round about absolutely beautiful and plenty to see and do.

Very clean and reasonably well-furnished, spacious bungalow. Good sized bedrooms with very comfy beds, was great for six of us. Great views overlooking mountains, through patio doors in living room. Kids loved seeing ships in the neighbouring farm. Quiet and secluded location, central to many sightseeing locations in highlands (Inverness, Fort Williams, Fort Augustus etc.), but it still took time (up to an hour) to get around these places due to roads aren't very easy to drive through as expected. The house was good for my disabled mother as it's a bungalow, with shower rooms. I'd suggest disabled guests to bring their own shower room stool though. The only major downside was that there was no internet wifi or mobile network. We had SIM cards from three different providers, EE, Vodafone and Three. None of them worked, also our mobiles didn't locate any other network. This was quite an issue for planning trips, buying tickets etc., also we were really worried when my aged parents had to stay at home one day as we went out for a day trip, as any medical emergency could have been a nightmare. I would strongly recommend owners to get a phone/broadband connection if possible at all. That would make it a perfect holiday home!

The accomodation was a modern bungalow and quite spacious and clean. However it was lacking in facilities. It had no wi-fi and that made it difficult to plan things as there was no mobile signal either. No dishwasher. Of the 3 bedrooms, only one had a wardrobe. The others were limited to a chest of drawers and some hooks on the backs of the doors. It's situated on a large plot of land. There's plenty of space to park cars but it's just gravel around the bungalow then wild grass. It's not a cultivated garden. It's got very good views of the hills and farmland which we found very pleasant but there's only a picnic bench to sit out on. The nearby pub is in Whitebridge. We went once. The beer was good and the staff were friendly but we didn't try the food. It's just over a mile away - walkable in daylight but you wouldn't want to walk back in the dark as there's no pavement so you have to walk in the road. Fort Augustus has the nearest shop and it can take a while to get anywhere as much of the road in either direction is single track with passing places.

A lovely cottage in a beautiful area. The only noise is the bleating of the sheep, and of an evening you could sit and watch hares and deer run through the neighbouring fields. We had a wonderful time, it was a pity I only booked a week.

Spent a week here recently and the property was easy to find and as described. Excellent cottage with gravelled area around - no garden as such but no disadvantage as views to mountains from the front were stunning. Facilities good and when chilly at night heating system was first class. Nearest shop was at Foyers which was well stocked and included a cafe and lovely home baking. Great week at a lovely cottage and would return again sometime in the future

The cottage was in beautiful surroundings, had awesome views and was peaceful, just what the doctor ordered. With no distractions, only the birds, cows and sheep for company and the daily visits from a family of hares. The cottage was fully equipped with everything we needed and it was very spacious with plenty of room for 6 adults.

Braewood cottage was a lovely place to stay, nice size rooms, did not need anything. I would go there again, pub up the road was a nice place with good food. Lovely, lots to do round the area.

The property was first class - excellent fittings and décor throughout. A Lovely location with fantastic uninterrupted views over the hills. Relatively close to various tourist attractions such as cruising Loch Ness and visiting Urquhart Castle and within easy reach of Inverness. Overall, a fantastic base for a holiday and would have no hesitation going again.

With regards to Braewood, it is not possible to fault it! Nice house, stunning views, deer & hares in the garden, great walks/cycling & it was most importantly clean!! It is pretty remote. We really enjoyed our time there with no complaints.
