We had a wonderful stay at the Old Stable. The owners were extremely friendly and provided us with a welcome package on arrival which included eggs which were fresh from their own hens and they were lovely. The cottage is well situated and acted as a good base for our trips around North Wales. We had a very peaceful week away. Great for recharging the batteries! We would definitely recommend a visit! We would love to go back. Thank you Gill and Terry for a wonderful peaceful Christmas break

A perfect little cottage situated in an ideal location for easy trips to Chester and surrounding areas. Apart from the occasional rooster in the morning it was perfectly quiet and no traffic noise. The place is very equipped, had everything in it that you could need. The owners Gill and Terry were very welcoming and gave a lovely tour of the cottage when we arrived, and were always on hand if we needed anything. The log burner was amazing and saved us on a couple of chilly evenings! All in all a gorgeous cottage would definately recommend :)

Booked this cottage in February 2016 on the description written on Sykes cottages, which we have found to be misleading. We have been told by Sykes that the information was supplied by the owners. Firstly we were greeted by a shut gate despite the owners knowing what time we where arriving, then shown to our parking space outside the cottage wall. We were taken into the cottage for a tour of what was what and where, this was read front a list that the owner had because there was to much to remember (not sure how we where suppose to). Finally we where told about a slug infestation, and to make sure that we didn't leave any food stuffs laying around as it attracts them. Next the electric central heating is no more than posh oil filled radiators with a complex timer and temp setting which even the owner had to alter using a manual. Total waste of time as they where only there as background heating, the main heat source was an 8kw log burner, which even when closed to the maximum damping was still over powering. As for "some traffic noise" the cottage is situated on a main road which takes all traffic to Mold over 14ft 6ins high, this is 24/7. As the main property houses b and b guests the car park is outside the old stable cottage, so you have guests in and out early in the morning and late at night plus the entrance is along the a passage that backs onto the bedroom . As the owner's keep chickens and ducks on the property you would expect a chance of vermin, but to see 2 black rats chasing each other around the owner's garden and to have our terrier chase a Brown rat from the cottage front door gave my wife nightmares, as she is petrified of rats, but I saw no signs of baiting. There are several other points of a problematic nature but you can make up your own mind if you continue to book. We will not be returning not even if it was free.

There is nothing at all to fault with this property and especially the owners who have obviously gone out of their way to ensure everything you would need was there. The quality of the furnishings was of a high standard and a lot of love and thought has gone into this cottage. We would have no problems in recommending this cottage to anybody.

The Old Stable is an excellent place to stay and the wood burner is a lovely part of the property. It is so close to Chester and many other lovely parts of North Wales. We were made very welcome by the owners and nothing was to much trouble.

The cottage was beautiful and clean with everything we needed to make our stay very comfortable. The garden was great to sit in with the dog, alongside the hens, ducks & many wild birds. It was very easy to visit places round the area, with lots of useful books to help us decide where to go. The bed was really comfortable, again the best we've ever had! We will certainly re-visit the cottage again & would recommend it to all our family & friends.

The cottage was well equipped with everything you needed and the owners were perfect hosts. It was in the ideal location to visit family and friends and visit surrounding beauty spots. Our dog loved it as she could roam freely in the enclosed garden and made friends with the owners dogs. Would recommend this property and would score it 10 out of 10.

After 2 stays at this well equipped cottage I can say that I have been delighted with both the property and the lovely hosts and have already arranged my next visit.. The pictures shown on the rental websites do not do the place justice, it is far, far better than what is shown. Very highly recommended.

A small but very well appointed cottage with everything you could need. It was exceptionally clean with very friendly owners next door if we had any questions. A great location to explore Wales and Cheshire. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for couples without any hesitation.

Excellent location. The Owners were very welcoming and made us feel at home.

Rated by Mrs Smith reviewed on 29th June 2014

A convenient location for visiting Wrexham and Chester. A really clean and well decorated apartment; extremely comfortable bed, great WiFi signal, and a well equipped kitchen. I had great weather so was able to sit out in the private courtyard and watch the sunset every night whilst eating my evening meal. I had my dog with me and while she was able to jump over the courtyard fence, there is a second fence around the parking area and outer garden which my dog could not get through, so she was safe from the road. Parking is off the road with room to turn the car around so you can pull out onto the road forwards (no need to back out). The cottage interior looks just like the photos, but there is a nice little garden/courtyard area and potted herbs that aren't shown in the photos.

This cottage is well equipped and provides everything you need for a home away from home. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The location is great if you need to be near to Chester but is also ideal for exploring North Wales. We would stay again if in that area!
