Location Details

Set at the very tip of the Strathaird Peninsula on the beautiful Isle of Skye, the rural crafting community of Elgol lies at the end of a single track road which runs from the village of Broadford. Quiet, peaceful and amid stunning scenery, Elgol makes a wonderful base for those seeking to get away from it all and rediscover nature. Experienced hill walkers and climbers have a choice of mountain trails to explore, while a picnic by the side of the Loch Coruisk is an ideal afternoon treat. Fishing boats operate from Elgol's small quay, and can transport visitors across the water and past the seal colony. For amenities including pubs, restaurants, shops and a petrol station, Broadford is just 15 miles from Elgol.

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Reviews

We arrived at the house on a wild rainy night and it instantly felt like a home from home. The house is larger than expected, well equipped and extremely clean, which is very reassuring given the current pandemic situation. The wood burner was lovely with the added bonus of a complimentary basket of logs! The kitchen had everything you would ever need, and the cottage had lovely touches including maps, books and guides for the local area. The internet worked perfectly (those with tech wise kids will understand the need!!). The Smart TV was great and streamed iPlayer and Netflix with no problem. The following morning the sun came out and the house filled with light, the views are spectacular, with the large panoramic windows making it a fabulous place to sit. The MistyIsle boat trip to Loch Coruisk was fantastic, we saw minke whales and seals, the children loved the whole experience. The local shop was great but it’s worth stocking up at the Co-op in Broadford on your way through. We walked to Bonnie Prince Charlie’s cave which wasn’t far and easily manageable for the kids. They also loved playing on the beach near the harbour, a short walk from the house. The beds were really comfortable and bathrooms modern with plenty of hot water. We would thoroughly recommend staying here and would come back in a heart beat! Sykes were amazing as always, we are continually impressed with the professionalism and service they offer.

This house was amazing and perfect in every way for our family spending Christmas there. The owners have thought of everything which made it very comfortable for a week. The heating, hot water, water pressure, kitchen equipment and general extras were all perfect. Would highly recommend any one thinking of going to Elgol to stay in this house. Thank you.

It is difficult to overstate how beautiful this holiday rental is. The picture do it some justice but you are still wowed when you step into the property. This is a home that you are invited to share. Everything has been thought of. The problem is it is difficult to tear yourself away from the view, made perfect by the large picture windows. We did not enjoy the best of weather during our stay in August, but with such a beautiful property, large screen TV, music centre to listen to music as the scene changed outside by the minute you where not concerned that it wasn't glorious sunshine every day. The property is at the Elgol village end of a single track lane, and it does take you a few trips up and down the route to get used to passing spaces and who has right of way, but you soon get used to it and it adds to the adventure. If you are going to travel to many of the spectacular sights on Skye then you will need to get used to single track roads. The problem with Asival is that it will spoil you for other holiday rentals that I feel will struggle to match the quality and spectacular view.

We had a wonderful week at Askival in Skye. The property is stunning, modern but very cosy. The perfect place to relax and enjoy much needed family time. The facilities are first class there was everything you could wish for in the kitchen and so handy having a washing machine and dryer. The TV and blue ray system was perfect for us and all the crockery, bed linen and towels were top quality. We loved it and will be returning! It was all perfect!
