The picturesque Dales village of Kirkby Malham is situated in beautiful Malhamdale amidst superb open limestone countryside. The village is made up of the Parish Church, a lovely old village pub, a scattering of dwellings and farmsteads. Kirkby Malham is a wonderful central location with Skipton, Settle, Grassington all within easy reach of this Yorkshire Dales village.
From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?
We stayed for a week whilst visiting family in the UK and doing some walking. The cottage is ideally located for access to main roads and towns, yet close enough to the dales and excellent walking country. The cottage is fantastically equipped just as you would if it was your own home. It has an Aga which is great fun to cook on, the whole cottage was spotless, with modern ‘everything’. Genuinely couldn’t fault it. There are lots of pubs around and very easy to pick up supplies at any of the towns and villages around the area. The cottage is part of a very nice mill conversion, up a quiet lane alongside the river, with lovely grounds and immediate access to the public footpaths to Malham & Airton. Definitely recommend it - I can’t say enough to praise the cottage and it’s quiet backwater location.
Only got here yesterday as part of a weeks stay and needed to write this. Everything is perfect. Everything oozes quality and attention to detail. Kitchen has an AGA cooker. Now I want one back at home. Dishwasher/washing machine/fridge/Belfast sink and all the bits and bobs you need. Lovely touch with milk and beer in the fridge and fresh flowers on the table. Everything is there without the need to go shopping on your first day. Large breakfast table at one of kitchen. Constant surprises and delights with the thought and quality of the kit in the cottage. Coal fire in the living room with plenty of stuff to get it going. WiFi/sky tv/books/latest dvds/games/maps and guidebooks. Comfy couches and beautiful decor. Bedrooms are the same. Bedding fresh and soft. Nice fluffy soft towels. Underfloor heating in both kitchen and bathroom. Shower is fab. There are even heated mirrors. Located next to a river on the site of an old Mill it is 20 minutes walk up to Kirkby Mallum and a great pub The Lister Arms which has amazing food and glorious real ales. Perfect location for all the beautiful walks and near towns like Skipton. What an amazing find this is. Thankyou
The bathroom was great, it had a lovely shower and under floor heating. The Aga was excellent, it was a good experience to cook on it. The walks were lovely and the neighbours were friendly.
This was a beautiful setting, a very peaceful, lovely cottage with everything there that we needed. It was great for walks.
This is a fantastic property in a great location. Ideal for a walking holiday
Our family of 4 (children aged 10 & 6) have just spent the perfect week in this beautiful cottage. It was immaculately presented with every home comfort you could possibly need. There was plenty of living and storage space. The cottage itself was warm and extremely comfortable in an idyllic setting. It was the perfect base to explore the stunning Yorkshire Dales. A particular treat was being able to walk from the cottage along the river and into Malham itself - just a 15 minute stroll. We couldn't have asked for more from the cottage or the location. We would very highly recommend.
Beautiful cottage amid lovely, peaceful surroundings. Ideal for people who wish spend their time outdoors.
We have just returned from a week in this gorgeous cottage. It is part of an old converted Mill and is set in lovely peaceful grounds. It is walking distance (across fields) from a great pub in Malham and there are lots of walks that can be done directly from the cottage. It has fitted out to a really high spec, with a lovely warm Aga, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher etc. I would highly recommend this as a base for exploring the area.
Lovely cottage in a lovely setting.
Start with a setting of outstanding natural beauty. Now take an historic structure, take first class materials along with a thoughtful and ergonomically perfect design, use top quality craftsmen and top-end whisper-quiet appliances. Result: Fountains Cottage. We could have stayed another week (and probably will in another year or so!)
Liked the tranquillity of Fountains Cottage and the evening riverside walk into Malham. There were 2 excellent pubs in Malham. So many places of interest to visit and so many great walks to do. Would return, it was lovely.
A wonderful high spec property in a great location. The attention to detail was fantastic, it had everything you could need including OS maps of local area.
A beautiful Cottage in a lovely setting by the riverbank. Lots of walks from the doorstep so we could leave the car at home most days.
