This delightful, stone-built semi-detached cottage sits amongst quiet countryside in the small hamlet above Wray, two miles from Low Bentham, making an ideal romantic retreat for those wishing to enjoy the great outdoors. There is an open plan living area with modern furnishings, a stylish, well-equipped kitchen with views of Ingleborough and a woodburner to settle beside on frosty nights. The bedroom has a good quality king-size bed with a memory foam mattress, integrated TV and ample storage, whilst the bathroom has a steel bath, power shower, underfloor heating, a heated towel rail and contemporary fixtures. Don't forget the superfast broadband to help with your stay or also to download photos whilst you're actually away. Outside, a secluded rear garden, which is accessed from the living area through the patio doors, is an ideal place to enjoy the wildlife, the afternoon/evening sun and a little alfresco dining. Cycling is available either on the adjacent National Cycle Route 69, or for mountain bikers, directly down the bridleway which leads from the property. Nearby is a popular walking route that covers the dramatic landscape of Malham Cove, Gordale Scar, Janet's Foss Waterfall and Malham Tarn - Britain's highest lake. Travel through varied terrain and rugged landscapes. A less strenuous route is from Malham Village to Janet's Foss.. To the north, the landscape rises to the fells, moors and picturesque valleys of the Dales, while to the south are the wetlands of the Ribble Valley, sweeping upward to the magnificent wilderness of The Forest of Bowland, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. For golfers, there is a selection of wonderful courses nearby, the closest being in High Bentham. Ingleton is just a little further, offering a collection of shops and traditional old pubs huddled around its quaint square, along with an open air, heated swimming pool available during the summer. The bustling market town of Settle is nearby with its weekly market, or for a great day out, take a tour along the renowned Settle-Carlisle Railway line, which steams through some of the most inspiring upland scenery in the country, and the nearby Wennington Railway Station is on the Leeds-Morecambe line. This cosy cottage provides all the ingredients for a romantic break.

The charming country parish of Tatham lies on the northern fringe of the Forest of Bowland, close to the small village of Wray, with its tea room, garden centre, pub and renowned Scarecrow Festival in February. A relic of the Ice Age, stands on the boundary where Lancashire meets Yorkshire and has become a distinctive feature of the landscape, boasting spectacular views over the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland, whilst just to the north lies the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Reviews

Bridleway Cottage is a high standard cottage - well equipped with all mod cons, such as wi-fi, Netflix, coffee machine. The owners have gone the extra mile to think of little extras to make this a very homely cottage, even providing bird feeders in the garden. It is situated in a very peaceful location just outside the village of Low Bentham. There are many beautiful walks and places to visit in this area, Starting points for each of the three peaks are approximately 20-30 minutes drive. Would recommend Ingleton (avoid the weekend for the waterfalls walk if you can and be prepared to pay £6 each); Clapham and walk to Norber Erratics; Hawes and walk to Hadraw Force; Malham Cove and Janet's Foss. Would highly recommend Bridleway Cottage for a perfect get-away.

What a great place to get away to! The owners have thought of everything and it's all in great condition. We enjoyed a long weekend here despite horrible weather (well, it was February after all) and felt warm and comfortable throughout. The kitchen is well kitted out with all the crockery, glassware etc you will need. The lounge has plenty of comfortable seating and the wood burner. The bedroom storage was excellent, in fact the best I have ever come across in a holiday rental, and the bed comfortable. What else is there to say? Would I stay again? Without hesitation!

Perfect place to relax and unwind. The cottage was gorgeous and totally luxurious; we really couldn't have wanted for anything more. We were there for a week and didn't want to leave. It was perfect.

This was one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in. The décor was to a very high standard and everything was thought of, including Netflix and WiFi. There were bird feeders in the garden and it was lovely to see the birds in the morning. Also, the wood burning stove was an attractive feature and nice to come home to in the evenings. There was an excellent pub down the road which did very good food. The area was beautiful and the owners were contactable but left us to our own devices. I would certainly recommend this cottage to anyone staying in the area.

Perfect little cottage in a fantastic setting close to many walking trails. The bird feeder is good to watch with a brew with all different birds wanting to be fed.

We felt very relaxed and settled in quickly at Bridleway Cottage. We were hugely impressed with the range of kitchen utensils and gadgets. The sparkling bathroom and fluffy white towels made us feel pampered. Thank you for such a special cottage.

The cottage has been done very thoughtfully and has everything needed, including extras to make your stay so comfortable.

The cottage was immaculate, and the owner's little touches made us feel right at home straight away. We didn't need to use the open fire as the radiators provided plenty of heat and the under-floor heating in the bathroom was lovely. There was a lot of information provided for local attractions and we found the visitors book very interesting.

Had an absolutely wonderful stay. The cottage had everything we could possibly need and the owners had thought of absolutely everything. It is a very nice location with lots of places nearby to visit. We couldn't have wanted anything more and will definitely be returning and will recommend it to all of our friends. It really is a 5* Cottage.

This is the best holiday cottage we have stayed in! Very comfortable and well equipped to a high standard. Like the 'extras' - wifi, Netflix, bird feeders. Delightful position surrounded by beautiful countryside. Within easy reach of some interesting places - we enjoyed Sizergh Castle (NT), brilliant colours of the Acers in the rock garden. Also, Windermere, Fell Foot Park, Ribbleshead Viaduct, Hawes, Kendal and Settle. Beautiful Autumn colours everywhere. Restful and relaxing week.

Bridleway cottage felt like 'home' as soon as we stepped inside, and as such treated it like it was. It was welcoming, comfortable and very relaxing. We loved the peace, quiet and the scenery in the surrounds, and had easy access to the local attractions that we wanted to visit. The people we met were very friendly.

The cottage was modern, welcoming and well equipped with everything we needed and we loved the peaceful location and stunning scenery around every bend.

Rated by Mrs Coxon reviewed on 11th July 2015

The cottage had everything we needed. It felt like a home away from a home. It had all the mod-cons, which we didn't expect to find and all the furniture was extremely comfortable. The cottage itself was in a great location and meant that we could explore the Yorkshire Dales and the Lakes. The local market at Settle was great for supplying our food for the week and the layout of the living space was ideal to cook in and also socialise. A very enjoyable stay - we will definitely be back! Thank you.

Bridleway Cottage is an ideal base for a romantic getaway.

Rated by Mr Usher reviewed on 28th June 2015

The cottage was a perfect base for us. It was in a great location, well away from any hustle & bustle but close enough to quickly drive to local pubs & shops. Within 20 to 30mins we were in the Yorkshire Dales.

"A lovely, well presented little cottage which provided a perfect place to rest and re-charge for a long weekend. There was everything we required to make it a home from home. Warm, bright and comfortable."

Rated by Mrs Irwin reviewed on 2nd April 2015

Booked a lazy weekend as we wanted to chill out and do " nought" . We could not have asked for a better place to do this :) We arrived later than anticipated, and it was pitch black - stars were amazing - a neighbour showed us where to go and park etc. on entering the lights and heating were on and a welcome tray with cookies and chocolates. The layout and quality of the furnishings etc was perfect. We were able to settle down make a meal relax and watch a film. The bed was a little uncomfortable - but I think this was due to it being different to what we are used to . The three days were relaxing and enjoyable - the cottage remained warm and comfortable throughout- we had some nice walks, a very nice coffee and scone in the village of Wray - a trip to Kirkby Lonsdale- beautiful and some lovely meals. The cottage provided all the utensils, information and equipment we could have asked for. It has been tastefully decorated and thoughtfully laid out - will definitely consider for future trips - thank you :)

Fantastic accommodation, look like it could sleep four but the owners have configured for a luxury two. Good walks and views from the door step. Lovely location and hamlet type setting. Every conceivable touch including, wi fi, netflix, remote control heating, underfloor heating in some rooms, two TVs, Private parking and garden a boon for the summer, will be back.
