Reviews

We had a 5 night break here a week ago. Such a beautiful, peaceful property close to all of North Yorkshire's sights. Easy for Scarborough, Whitby and Robins Hood Bay and then the North Yorkshire Railway, Pickering, Scampston Walled Garden etc. Beautiful walks in the Dalby Forest and over the Moors. We had my 83 year old father with us, and 9 year old son. Heather and Kevin made us all extremely welcome, house access was easy for my father, nightlights in the hall incase we needed them and beautiful rooms and bathrooms. Very comfy beds and wonderful antique furnishings. My son, and I, loved collecting eggs - none of the animals disturbed us - the house is extremely quiet and peaceful. Tea, coffee and biscuits and basic kitchen items like dishwasher tablets provided. Easy access with a lockbox. Wonderful views from the front bedrooms and farmyard views from the back. Plenty of space for everyone to sit, and the kitchen was extremely well equipped for cooking for large numbers. Already planning a repeat visit and recommending it to friends.

A lovely house and garden set in an idyllic, beautiful village. We had a fantastic easter made all the nicer by the friendly welcome from hosts Heather and Kevin, who spent an hour showing us and the kids around the farm and seeing the horses, ducks, new born easter chicks etc. The garden there is exceptional, large and a nice mix of wild at one side and neat and practical at the other with gorgeous blooms. The village is really well appointed with a play park and in close proximity to other villages with a great pub, chippy and other facilities. Scarborough and the tranquil Forge valley are short drives or lovely walks away.

We had a fabulous Christmas at Manor Farm - a family reunion. Firstly, I want to thank Heather for making us feel so welcome. The Christmas tree in the hall and the festive decorations and fairy lights and welcome package were wonderful. Our Australian visitors were very impressed - we all were. The house is both roomy and cosy. It is beautifully furnished and well equipped - Christmas dinner for seven went without a hitch. The beds are unanimously comfortable and all the rooms have their own special character. The house is set in a lovely peaceful village just opposite the church; there are lovely walks to be had and the pubs and shops are nearby. I particularly enjoyed the quietness of the property and the sense of being in another era. The front garden is a haven for birds - we enjoyed watching the visiting pheasant. It was snowing rather prettily on the day of our departure - the perfect end to a perfect stay.

First impression was fantastic as we walked up to the cottage it definitely had the wow factor. Gardens where well maintained and was lovely to sit and watch the world go by nor literally as it’s in a small village. The house was spotless not one spec of dust anywhere was immaculate I really enjoyed the open log/coal fire. Was lovely The bathrooms where very nice and the bath was stunning. We have been to many many cottages and lodges but this was up there with some of the best! Plenty of space the beds where very comfortable my room was the angel bed and I was not cold house was nice and warm my best friend also said his bed was the same! I loved all the period features and the wonderful display cabinets was stunning. All in all this is a hidden gem what a wonderful week to stay I will recommend this to all my friends and family. Very happy Owhhh plenty of kitchen utensils and cooking equipment was well equipped for home cooking and backing. Regards Peter and Adrian

We had a lovely stay at Manor Farm to celebrate a special birthday for one of the family and found everything we needed in the kitchen / dining room. The lounge was so cosy with large comfy settees for us all and an open fire. The bedrooms were quite amazing with one of the most comfortable of beds I have ever slept in. Stunning bathrooms. Looking forward to returning in the Autumn so we can spend the evening in front of a roaring fire.

The house was really beautiful and the décor inside looked as if it had been in a period magazine and felt as if it were home the minute we came through the front door. It certainly had that wow factor. There was plenty of room within the house to accommodate four adults and four children.

On arrival, it was difficult to find the owner of the house to gain entry. No note was left advising of code for entry or no email was sent prior to arrival. The window in the lounge was damaged and so letting in draft, the large rug posed a serious risk of tripping due to the its poor maintenance. Some furniture was broken, used sanitary pad found in chest of drawers in bedroom etc.... the main oven did not work, when we advised the owner of this they suggested we use the grill. There were 8 of us to feed! Guineafowl became a nuisance during the early hours, squawking from approx 4am. Overall, property and location is promising if not need of some basic maintenance and up keep.
