This traditional, mid-terrace Northumberland cottage is located in the centre of the peaceful hamlet of High Hauxley, 1.5 miles south of the busy fishing port of Amble. Less than half a mile from the beach, Middle Cottage offers character and romantic charm and is an ideal base for a small family or a couple wishing to explore the Heritage Coastline. On the ground floor of this quaint cottage is a well-equipped kitchen, along with a spacious sitting room with a dining area and cosy woodburning stove for those chillier Northumberland nights. The staircase from the sitting room takes you to the first floor, with a bathroom and two cosy bedrooms, each with memory foam mattresses. The beach at Low Hauxley is just a couple of minutes' drive away, where the long golden sands stretch all the way around Druridge Bay, so whether you want to cycle, walk the dogs or simply relax by the sea, this is just the spot. There is a licensed restaurant halfway into Amble serving good food, or just a little further up the coast, Amble itself has a lovely assortment of shops, pubs, restaurants and takeaways. Many small restaurants and eateries have popped up in Amble recently, so there is a wide choice on offer. A short drive from Middle Cottage takes you to the charming coastal villages of Warkworth and Alnmouth. Why not take a trip to Craster and sample a crab sandwich or two in The Jolly Fisherman, then take a leisurely stroll to Dunstanburgh Castle with its stunning backdrop of the North Sea? Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island and Cragside are all within easy reach. A safe, pet-friendly base for that perfect seaside break.

The village of High Hauxley is situated less than a mile inland from the hamlet of Low Hauxley at the northern end of Druridge Bay, a four-mile stretch of sweeping sand dunes and white sands. Less than two miles away is the small fishing port of Amble, which sits at the mouth of the River Coquet and offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and stunning coastal walks.

Reviews

We thought the property and location were very good, we could not find any faults with the cottage. The owner waited for us to arrive and showed us around the property and explained how every thing worked. Our dogs thought that the cottage location which was close to the beach was great and we spent every day on it. We enjoyed the holiday that much that we have already booked the cottage again for next year.

Never visited Northumberland before, was very impressed. Middle Cottage is in a very nice location, easy walk over a field to the sand dunes and the beach good for walking the dog. Very secure garden for the dog, good off road parking. Nice friendly pub a mile away that accept dogs. We will be visiting again.

The cottage was very spacious, had a wonderful and relaxed feel, so well accommodated, amazing water pressure, very comfortable beds, wi-fi access, a spectacular sitting room and amazing wood cabinetry in the kitchen. The neighbours were very kind and being so close to the sea was great. I couldn't have asked for a better vacation!

Warm, personal welcome from the owners and personal touches of wine, flowers and milk. Even the kettle was on ready! The owners were very helpful and on hand if needed. The cottage is in a perfect location for exploring or just relaxing locally especially with a lovely beach less than ten minutes walk away. Great to see and hear the sea from the cottage.

The cottage was clean, comfortable, very well equipped and the owners were friendly and helpful. The enclosed garden was great for the dog and also a sunny spot to sit in the afternoons. It was only a short walk to the beach and was also a convenient base for exploring the beautiful coastline and surrounding countryside.
