We booked the old forge for my husband to be along with his mum to stay in the night before our wedding and the Saturday night following (3 nights total) when myself, my mum and maid of honour joined them. Oh my goodness, what a treat! Absolutely beautiful, from the massive kitchen, to the plush beds, the cosy lounge with log burner to the abundance of history surrounding us, it was not only an escape but unexpected delight and pleasure. Huge thank you to Fiona and Elaine for a wonderful trip, we cannot wait to return. P.S. the surprise goodies were a massive hit thank you xx

The Old Forge is a superb property - we have never stayed in such a welcoming, comfortable, amazing house - the history you can browse through is incredible. We felt extremely privileged to spend time there and will be visiting again, and again, and again!

Wonderful welcome and lovely cottage one of the nicest places I’ve stayed in. Loved the area and enjoyed walking in every direction. Lots to see and do locally with a nice pub very close by. Elaine who looks after the cottage was very kind and very helpful. Me and my two friends who met at college in the 1970’s had a lovely catchup and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This is such a welcoming house in a lovely unspoilt location. It has every amenity anyone could want, and really unusual to find so much of the family history to add to the general interest. There is walking from the door, and a huge choice without having to drive too far- allowing us to explore an area previously unknown to us. We have never before experienced such generous welcome baskets and flowers, and our thanks to Elaine for the spotlessly clean accommodation. Very highly recommended!

We stayed for a long weekend in this stunning cottage, extremely comfortable and with plenty to offer in the local neighbourhood. We went for walks, had some delicious meals in local pubs and enjoyed the beautiful landscape. The house has been recently redecorated throughout I can not recommend it highly enough for a relaxing break.

Stunning cottage in a beautiful location. A lot of effort has been put into this cottage to make it as welcoming as possible. The local host went out of her way to assist us and this was much appreciated. The bed was also one of the most comfortable that I have ever slept in!

We were looking for somewhere to stay in this area as we had heard good things about the Forest of Bowland. For seven of us this was a great choice and everything that we could have wanted. The house is really interesting, comfortable and a good size and it was spotless and really welcoming on arrival, with the fire set ready to be lit and a basket of goodies that we really appreciated. We thought that this was an ideal base with a great pub just down the road that we walked to a couple of nights and many others within a short drive. The area is great for walking (we went up Pendle Hill, did a local walk from the cottage and the Tolkein Trail) and we had an amazing drive across the Trough of Bowland on a frosty morning to Lancaster. I enjoyed the great views from the cottage itself with Pheasants, Grouse and Hares darting around in the fields outside. I would not hesitate to recommend it.

What a truly wonderful cottage. Beautifully furnished and equipped. It's like staying in a family home. Spotlessly clean too. We were so comfortable - didn't want to leave! We will definitely book this cottage again.

The Old Forge is the perfect country retreat and a sight for sore, city eyes! Nestled in amongst green fields and rural winding roads, this house delivered on all counts. Tasteful decor, oodles of comfortable sofas and kingsize beds and a well appointed kitchen with a yummy welcome basket of thoughtful essentials. I can feel by blood pressure lowering, just by thinking about this place...and relax!

We had an absolutely fantastic, relaxing weekend stay here. The house and gardens are immaculate and full of interesting history and quirky features. The house was spotless and had everything we needed to relax and unwind. The views are breathtaking and there are plenty of beautiful walks nearby. The house is in a fantastic location, Booth's the local supermarket was packed with fantastic local produce and even had a band of elderly gents playing music inside when we went. The local pub served great grub and had a great selection of local ales & produce too. I am struggling to think of a negative about this house, I guess the only one is it doesn't belong to me!!!

We were so impressed with the Old Forge. The building is very traditional, and done up to a modern standard so the best of both worlds. Outside the garden is lovely, with an outside dining area which was great for the weather we had. If you don't get the good weather, the house has such a lovely comfy feel. You could sit infront of one of the fires playing board games, or investigating the interesting book collection and intriguing ornaments. The kitchen also has everything you can need, so it makes it simple to cook in. I'd definitely go back again.

Our family had a very relaxing week in this beautiful home. Its a great location for exploring nearby attractions, we even made it to Blackpool to experience the Pleasure Beach. The house has been decorated to a high standard, the rooms are comfortable and spacious, we had a bathroom each(!), its a real home from home. We were very sad to leave.

The house is great - 3 good sized rooms, great kitchen diner and wonderful views out over the fields front and back. Stayed with friends and family - 4 adults and a 2 1/2 year old. We all enjoyed our stay very much. The Red Pump Inn is very close and easy for a well earned pint or some food after a walk.
