Location Details

Skellingthorpe is a village and civil parish approximately four miles west of the city of Lincoln, with two pubs, a shop and a Post Office. The village was formerly home to RAF Skellingthorpe, known as 'Skelly' to the RAF personnel serving there, and was the host to one of many bomber airfields around the city of Lincoln. The village has ancient woodland to explore on foot, bicycle or horseback, with a variety of ancient oak, lime and conifers.

From rolling countryside to historic cathedral cities and traditional seaside resorts, Lincolnshire offers a peaceful alternative to the discerning holidaymaker.

We stayed here as a family of 8 over the New Year period. What can we say a beautiful, spacious house with everything you could wish for. It was warm, clean and huge x The rooms were comfortable and clean enough seating for everyone. The bedrooms were big and beds were comfortable. Plenty of room for the children to play. The staircase was huge and the panaramic balcony Was to die for . Jane provided lots of information about the village and Lincoln..even taxi numbers xx Lovely walk to the village where there are two very nice pubs .Taxi into Lincoln was £7.00 . Can not fault this house ..large dining kitchen equipped with everything.A conservatory which in the summer will be lovely to use . Thanku Jane x

The best we have stayed in and we have stayed in many lovely cottages/houses. The House is spacious, light and lovely and clean. The beds and bedding are so comfortable. We were 4 adults and 2 x 15 month toddlers, the house worked really well for us. Do not hesitate to book if you are thinking of visiting this area. Lincoln close and easy to get too. Lovely peaceful location with great walks to hand although we did not get far due to the "beast from the east" and approx 6-8 inches of snow and drifts. Jane the owner is just lovely and unobtrusive. Thank you to Ben for the logs. We will most definitely be back. Thank you

Having had 11 cottage (actually large house) holidays in the last 3 years all excellent, Broadleaf House is up with the best. We went to visit Lincoln for a Christmas week and this was far better than any hotel or B&B stay. Lovely to come back on a cold night to an already warm house and start the log burner (plentiful supply of logs) and settle down, have a drink and relax before going to bed. Rooms and amenities are all excellent and as described on the website. Jane who built the house herself is very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for her or Ben. We went to the Lincoln Showground to catch the Christmas Park and Ride and also visited a large antiques fair. Although there are 2 pubs in Skellingthorpe, a trip to the Dambuster Inn at Scampton,(near the showground) which is full of character real open fire serving excellent food and drink is worth a visit. Also Doddington Hall is not far away and is also worth a visit. We had a marvellous stay at Broadleaf House and would have liked longer, so it is our intention to go again very soon and would highly recommend staying to anyone looking for a relaxing break.

We stayed for a week in Broadleaf House in November, We were greeted by the owners on arrivals and shown were everything was and how it all worked, They were very friendly but not at all intrusive, they just said ANYTHING you need do not hesitate to call, The house itself is a large comfy house in a very quite lane just out of Skellingthorpe, a 5 min walk up the lane and you are into the woods which are lovely, the house is very well thought out - everything you need is there - The bedrooms and bathrooms are large and the beds are the best we have stayed in. The front room (one of 2) has a wood burner in which even for a complete fool like me found it easy to light and it put pout enough heat for the coldest nights, and a large comfy sofa and 2 chairs, the other front room is called "the Snug" but not at all small but very handy if you are stilling with children The kitchen has everything you need (inc a 4 slice toaster you would not believe how many places we stay in where it is only a 2 slice one!!) There is also a dining table in there as well as one in the conservatory just off the main front room Lincoln is a very easy 5/10 min drive away We will def be going back and would recommend it anyone looking for a stay with a small or large party in Lincolnshire

When I write a review for TripAdvisor, I do try to be objective and give the plus and minus points. My problem with writing about this property is, there are no negatives! I think this is probably the best places we have ever been to! Broadleaf house is set in the Old North Wood just outside the village of Skellingthorpe. The location is perfect for the country but, is also handy for the city of Lincoln. We used it as a base to visit some of the great local attractions. This is a beautifully furnished, well equipped spacious property which is incredibly comfortable. We were 5 adults and 1 under 2 year old and there was plenty of space for us all. We all had a great time and the family insisted that we plan a return trip.

Broadleaf House is an extremely spacious and comfortable holiday cottage. The lounge is massive with a wood burning stove and LED TV. Their is conservatory and second sitting room with LED TV allow people to do their own thing. The balcony off the landing would be great in summer to relax with a coffee or something a bit stronger. The three bedrooms are comfortable and can be set up as doubles or twins. Although very rural this is a good base to explore historic Lincoln. In a nutshell this is quite simply the best cottage we have ever rented.

I have just had a lovely weekend stay at Broadleaf House, in a group of 6 adults so we could attend Lincoln Christmas Market. Arriving early the owner was very welcoming and showed us around the house explaining well how the amenity’s worked, such as the log burning fire in the spacious living room. The house is spotlessly clean with fresh crisp white bedding on all the very comfy beds in the spacious bedrooms, one with on suite. 2 TV’s are available a very large HD TV in the TV room and a large smart TV in the living room again all fully explained to us on arrival., The owner was very helpful with regards to a taxi company and this was £14.70 for 6 adults in to Lincoln, which we thought was great value We have all had a great weekend and would not hesitate to recommend this house for a short break or indeed a longer holiday, our only negative comment would be that the property could do with some nice pictures on the walls and a few bits and pieces around to make it a little more cosy, the house is quite modern in its feel and this would make it a little warmer in feel, please don’t see this as a criticism as it’s a personal preference which our group would like to have seen Overall a great property, very pleasant owner and spotlessly clean, we would defenatly book again should we be visiting Lincoln in a group again. Highly recommend

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Broadleaf House and will definitely recommend it to family and friends. The accommodation is excellent, providing ample space for 4 adults and a toddler to enjoy time both as a family and separately for some well earned rest. The house is located in a rural area yet is near enough to civilisation to ensure you aren't too isolated. It provided an excellent base to explore the local area.

The owner met us at the property and gave us a tour. She was friendly and approachable throughout our stay. The property was perfect for our stay. It was set back from the road on a country lane, quiet. We had a choice of the 2 large bedrooms, with a smaller one for our children. The kids loved the dvd selection and took over the smaller lounge room.

Everything was excellent; from the luxury of the house itself to the prime location near Lincoln and the welcoming owner! Will definitely be coming back in the Summer season to enjoy the beautiful gardens!

The house was really comfortable and always warm with an outlook so beautiful we would have liked to have stayed longer. The owner gave us a very friendly welcome and showed us around.

The most wonderful house in a very beautiful setting. The bed linen and towels were exceptional. It's is the kind of place you could return to again and again watching the seasons.

The house was fantastic, spotlessly clean, amazingly comfortable beds with crisp white bedding (better than top hotel) all that you needed for fantastic holiday was there. The owner was extremely helpful but not in any way intrusive. Wonderful, peaceful setting. We had a fantastic time and nice rest.

The design, the furnishings and location was one of the best, if not the best self catering accommodation we have ever stayed in.
