Location Details
Dottery, a tiny hamlet nestling on the edge of West Dorset's Marshwood Vale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Only a short distance from the Jurassic Coast, with its dramatic cliffs, breathtaking views and lovely beaches, there is great walking on offer, with coastal trails and countryside paths to choose from. With plenty to offer visitors, this is a great coastal location, at any time of the year.

Lovely cottage which was warm and cosy even in January! It’s located on a small road a few minutes drive from Bridport so it’s close to all amenities including an excellent farm shop. The cottage has all anyone could need including fridge freezer, microwave and Wi-fi. Beds are comfortable and there is a dining room which we only used twice but would be good for families to play games. The Garden is small but enclosed and there is parking for two cars. The whole property feels spacious and light. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The only downside is that there are steps up to the bathroom and kitchen which might be an issue for the less mobile.
We were very pleased with the cottage, it was an ideal base for our holiday. It is in a nice quiet location but was only two miles to Bridport with all necessary amenities. Would definitely visit again.
Truly of a very high standard, this cottage must rank as the best of the best. This cottage leads the way, others should try and follow!
Nice location, comfortable chairs and beds, very clean and cosy. The heating was excellent.
We have had a very enjoyable week at The Old Smithy and would both recommend this cottage and would come back again ourselves. It is very well maintained and I have no complaints at all, our holiday here was excellent.
The Old Smithy was lovely, with an old, quaint feel to it. The log burner was lovely and kept us all warm and snug. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for our holiday. The Old Smithy is in a quiet area, near the town in a pretty hamlet. It was easy to find and had a good little garden and easy parking.
