The Ffestiniog Steam Railway is also a stone’s throw away and the longest 4-man zip wire in Europe at Zip World, with the Bounce Below underground trampoline are also close by, along with the magnificent slate caverns at Llechwedd, meaning there’s something for everyone to be enjoyed. Take a day trip to the scenic coast of North Wales, which is also easily accessible from this delightful cottage, a great base for exploring both coast and country at any time of the year.

Tanygrisiau, meaning "below the steps", refers to the stepped cliffs above this traditional Welsh village. The Moelwyn mountains protect the village from much of the wind from northerly gales in the winter, and give the village a pleasant southerly aspect with relatively mild weather considering its location high in Snowdon. The village stands amongst some dramatic scenery, and is a good starting point for many walks, especially if your intention is to climb Moelwyn itself.

Reviews

The cottage is fantastic. The rooms feel cosy. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was simple but the facilities worked very well (nice hot shower). We loved the kitchen. It was very well equipped and just a perfect room to sit together, eat, read and relax. There is also a nice garden and garden furniture to sit outside. There was a big selection of maps and leaflets which helped to plan trips. The cottage is in a great location. It is surrounded by mountains and a lake and is a central point for trips into the mountains and to the sea.

The cottage was one of best we have been to. It was well equipped and in a excellent location with parking opposite. Really handy for the Ffestiniog railway.

Great cottage in a lovely location. Had everything we needed for a few days away.

We loved this cottage, it was one of the best we have stayed in. The WiFi was good so the kids were happy, and it was well equipped, spacious and light. Also really well positioned for what we wanted to do; bike parks, mountains and the towns. Can't wait to come back when the trampoline centre opens in the mine.

We were pleasantly surprised at the size and cleanliness of the property. Considering that dogs are allowed, there wasn't any evidence that dogs had stayed there and it had everything we needed and more. Instructions were clear and there was lots of information to help us explore. Being so early in the season, we were fortunate to have good weather but there were plenty of games, reading matter and videos to keep us entertained if the weather had been bad. It was in a good location for local walks and climbs and central to the main towns around Snowdon. Overall, all 5 of us and the dog had a great time and would highly recommend the property.
