Famous as having been home to RAF Kinloss, the village has good local services and is surrounded by pretty open countryside, and once was home to the Cistercian Kinloss Abbey dating from 1150, the ruins remain today.

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

The general conditions of the property was excellent. The location was very good to go in any direction we wanted too, the hot tub was well used and an added bonus. The whole holiday experience was a pleasure.

Had a fantastic week at Strathnaver in Kinloss. We arrived to a very clean and well presented cottage much more spacious than we expected. Everything you would need was there. The kitchen was large and lead on to a very impressive double height dining area. Overall we were very pleased with the property. It was good value considering how many can comfortably stay. It had everything we needed and more. It was in a good location for eating out and walks etc. We would strongly recommend visiting Roseisle beach which is only 5 minutes down the road.

We were a group of 8 ages 54,53, 40+ 40+, 19, 17, 10 & 7 visiting the area for an 80th Birthday celebration. Booking was easy. Supplied directions were spot on. Picking up the key was a doddle. Paying the security deposit and having it returned was no problem. This house suited our needs perfectly. Its located in the countryside next to another 3 properties of different styles and with plenty of privacy. Parking for 3 cars in front of the double garage was no problem. We drove from Inverness Airport which took about 35 minutes. Its a spacious modern house which has been fitted out to a high standard. It's an L shaped design and the downstairs rooms are interesting shapes - not just standard boxes. The lounge is a couple of steps down from the rest of the house. It was close to freezing temperatures outside during our visit but the house was lovely and warm from the underfloor heating. We didn't need the log burner to heat the lounge but we did light it and it looked great. On entering the front door there is a large utility room with a wet room off of it and also access to the garage. Next to that there is a music room with electric organ and loads of DVDs and kids toys. There is a good sized kitchen which is open plan onto the hall and staircase. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. The dishwasher was not working during our stay but was not a problem for us.The dining room is double height with a large window. The lounge is accessible from the dinning room or the hall and it is a good size with plenty seating for 8 people. Upstairs there are 4 good sized bedrooms with an ensuite to the master bedroom. Each bedroom has loads of wardrobe space. The family bathroom is massive and has a powerful shower and a whirlpool bath (didn't try that). The large upstairs landing is fitted out as a library with loads of books to chose from. Outside there is a good sized garden but it was a bit cold to be outside. The cold didn't stop some of us using the outside hot tub which I'm told was very good. In the garage there was some sports equipment (bikes, golf clubs etc) which we could have used if time permitted. The local area is a bit of a hidden gem although I may be biased having been brought up nearby but moved away 30 years ago. There are fantastic beaches, golf courses, whisky distilleries, dolphins, hill walking, coastal walks, good food and loads more. We will probably try to book this property in the future when visiting family in this area and hopefully staying longer next time.

The location and house were ideal. We were 4 couples looking to escape for a weekend and Strathnaver was perfect. The pictures of the house didn't do it justice, it is a beautiful open space with plenty of light. We went for a couple of big walks in the wind and then warmed ourselves in the hot tub before having a big roast dinner and drinks by the fire. It was exactly the break from real life that we wanted.

I loved the quirkiness of the house and the homely cosiness of it all! Perfect for a relaxing, wine-filled weekend. A great spot to unwind, the most exercise any of us had was walking from the cosiness of the living room (the log burner was just so lovely!) to the fridge and back again!
