Excellent accommodation for a large group. Extremely well equipped (2 dishwashers!) and lovely facilities. Great people to bathroom ratio. Loved the table football, sauna, hot tub and table tennis table. Lots to do even on a winter’s weekend. Would love to return in summer to make the most of the garden.

The house was booked for 11 people to celebrate a special Birthday it worked perfectly.Enough room to all be together or another good size room for noisy board games.Because of the bad weather we had a few hiccups but these were dealt with very quickly and efficiently. The weather was wet and quite cold sometimes so the hot tub was well used. The bed linen was very good quality and the beds comfortable. We had a lovely supper and evening at the Nags Head in Peterchurch and spent an afternoon at Dore Abbey very interesting. We had Christine’s Catering come to the house to cook Sunday lunch, super food and good value. Elwyn was very helpful and always responded to any queries quickly. We will remember the week with many happy memories.

We had a wonderful time at the old vicarage. My friends and I decided on a girls weekend there to celebrate being able to get together again after two years of restrictions. The beautiful views and walks are just some of the many reasons to visit Herefordshire. We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub and in the evenings the house is extremely cosy especially when lighting the fire and playing board games. I can highly recommend visiting the red lion pub and the Pandy Inn Both of which are extremely welcoming. We look forward to returning in the future. Thank you Elwyn.

Our family of 11 stayed in the Old Vicarage over the Christmas period. The house was extremely well equipped and large enough for all of us to relax and spend quality time together. The sauna and hot tub were a welcome retreat during the very wet week. The owners were very helpful and responded to our minor needs very quickly. A special mention has to also go to the local butcher who delivered our Christmas meats. The pigs in blankets and bacon were the best we have had in a long time. Highly recommended for a larger family gathering or time away with a group of friends.

My family and I stayed here for a weekend and it had everything you need. There was a fantastic outdoor space to do so much, hot tub and sauna were delightful plus a ping pong table. The rooms were lovely and when the fire is going it feels so cosy! Elwyn was amazing and accommodating, we plan to make it an annual trip now. Recommend this house to everyone!

Beautiful old house with a mixture of old and new, large garden and you almost feel as if you have stepped in to an episode of Miss Marple. Perfect for family get together, hot tub and sauna were lovely. We took our dog and although the garden was fantastic he is a chaser and there are a lot of squirrels, the garden is not enclosed at the front of the property, so if you have a dog that might chase you need to be mindful as the road boarders the garden. This was just a particular problem for us and is not a judgement on the house, it really was lovely.

Our first holiday in over a year could not have been at a better place. The Old Vicarage was a perfect place for our family of four (with two young boys, 2 and 6 years old) to relax and unwind, in a covid-safe manner. The property itself is beautiful and impeccable. Beautiful, massive gardens with lovely play equipment for the kids and stunning valley views make it a relaxing setting. Inside the sheer space, well equipped modern kitchen, tastefully done rooms with outstanding views and well-stocked bathrooms made our stay easy. Elwyn was super helpful in addressing our Covid-safety related questions. He shared all the useful information in a simple manner and helped with suggestions for local walks that were suitable to do with young children. He even nudged us to use the hot tub, and we are so thankful for that! There was plenty to do around the house itself, and lovely walks were our highlight. And while you are there, you must visit Hay-on-Wye as well as Abergavenny (we did the walk up Sugar Loaf) - both Elwyn's suggestions. We loved our stay. It was the kind of holiday where we lost track of time, and came back feeling like we had been away for ages, when it was actually only 6 days! Thank you.

Three generations of our family had a wonderful time in this lovely house, which contains everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing time. We especially loved the garden with sauna, hot tub and play equipment, as well as the cosy living room and spacious kitchen diner - a real family hub. The owner responded very quickly when we needed help and we appreciated all the little touches (such as the homemade marmalade) that made us welcome.

This was such a wonderful place to stay. Secluded and tranquil, perfect for a weekend out of the city. The house itself was very well equipped, we cooked for ourselves every day and always found what we needed. Check in was super easy and there were so many lovely touches including towelled bath robes for the sauna and jacuzzi (which were firm favourites from the weekend!). Similarly, if you wanted to go for a walk there’s gorgeous countryside on your doorstep. We’d love to come back.

A stunningly attractive house in the most beautiful countryside . We were a group of 12 including kids and dogs and it was perfect for us. There was enough room for us all to have our own space and we never felt it was a squeeze. That said, the house has a homely and comfortable feel despite it being roomy so you have the best of both worlds. The gardens and outside space are immaculate and very well kept but again, “homely” enough for the kids and dogs to enjoy themselves without worrying. All in all, it is a very special place and we were very tempted to claim squatters rights and never leave! The owners have been a pleasure to deal with too so everything about staying here has been a positive experience.

The Old Vicarage is a beautiful house full of rustic period charm, with all the comfort that comes with modern amenities. The size of the house and number of beds meant that even with our large group, everyone had enough space and privacy. The amenities are amazing - the hot tub and sauna add a bit of luxury, and the foodies among us were especially impressed with the kitchen, which is one of the best equipped I've seen in a holiday let. We brought with us blenders and cake tins etc. but had no need of them! They also have a great coffee machine and two dishwashers - and good quality speakers for a bit of kitchen dancing! I also must mention the beds which were SO incredibly comfortable. The garden is huge with more than enough seating, enabling us to all sit out to eat every night and enjoy the peaceful summer evenings. And the ping-pong table gave us (literally) hours of fun. This was our first trip since lockdown, and Elwyn had thought of everything - there was hand sanitiser provided, and anti-bacterial soap at every sink. The house itself was spotless. Thank you, we can't wait to come back!

I stayed here recently for a hen-do and was so impressed with this home. It was absolutely beautiful and situated in large, stunning grounds that included a hot tub, sauna, and table-tennis table with equipment. Even though it rained we still had a fantastic time, and there was plenty of room for all of us. All the facilities were clean and easy to use. I would really like to go back in the summer and think it would be great place to come with family. The hosts really went out of their way to help and were just generally lovely people. Would absolutely recommend. Photos don't really do it justice.

We booked the Old Vicarage for a family birthday party for 11 adults. It met all the criteria, hot tub, gardens, plenty of bedrooms and a fabulous kitchen. We were fortunate to have a caterer doing the dinner party on Saturday and she loved the kitchen too with the range cooker and all mod cons. We were delighted to see an outdoor table tennis table (complete with bats and balls). They also have a sauna pod in the garden and lovely climbing frame for kids. There were lots of games and books available for our use and we adored the old vicarage dressing gowns! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a large relaxing house to spend time with family or friends and get away from it all!

What a fantastic place, booked for my 50th birthday except I knew nothing about it, we pulled up and everyone had parked around the back, hidden away. I thought we'd arrived at a bed and breakfast. Rog hurried me in saying we were late and had to meet the host. I had the shock of my.life to find out how devious my family are they were all hiding in the huge kitchen diner. The kitchen is amazing. We spent the evening in the hot tub, sauna and of course eating and drinking. The house is a great place to unwind. On the Saturday I was invited to a murder mystery dinner, so the dining became a French stately home. This is definitely a great place for families to get together for a chilled time. Plus it was only half an hour away from Hereford Parkrun!

This is the perfect place for a large family gathering. I chose The Old Vicarage because of its character, space, amenities and location. It had a homely feel as soon as you walked in, making you settle with ease and comfort. The kitchen/dining area was the heart of the house with an amasing central work space and a comfy leather sofa to sink into in the dining area. In the dining area, a large table to gather round. The whole house has a light and airy feel to it. Two bedrooms are on suite and there is a beautiful bathroom with bevel topped bath and a great walk in shower. There is no queuing to use the facilities like at home! The beds are so comfortable it is difficult to get up in the mornings! The dining room has sumptuous sofas in which to sink into with an open fire and a log burner in the dining part of the kitchen. The central heating kicks in fast and you are never cold. The owner, who met us on arriving, let me use their paddock for my Lurcher dog which was a great bonus as he loves to run free. And how could we not mention the hot tub and sauna. The weather wasn't that great when we were there but that really didn't put us off and once immersed in the warmth of the water the outside elements were refreshing and it was a wonderful experience as you looked up at the moon and stars - totally agreeable. You are not far from Hereford and local villages and walks are all around. We all felt so comfortable during our stay and my husbands 60th Birthday celebration could not have been better. Communication was fantastic on booking with the owners so I would 'totally' recommend this beautiful, homely Old Vicarage, once, by the way, the home of the brother of C.S. Lewis!

We stayed at the Old Vicarage in Vowchurch for a family weekend away. It was perfectly set up for this, with a large well equppied kitchen, plenty of sofas, bedrooms and bathrooms. There are games and dvds and well as garden games and a hot tub and sauna. Everything is clean and in good condition. The hosts were communicative and accommodating. The area is quiet, set in beautiful countryside perfect for dog walking, and there are plenty of amenities a short drive away.

Just got back from a week at the old Vicarage to celebrate moms 78th birthday. Arriving to a sweeping drive that displayed a lovely large family home. A mixture of the old and new. Lovely open kitchen diner with every amenity we required to cater for 12 adults and a baby. The log fires were a lovely touch to the lounge and dining room. We made good use of the sauna and hot tub despite the weather. Hereford a 20min car journey away, impressive cathederal, good choice of shops and eateries. If you want a comfortable venue for family or friends get together I would highly recommend the old Vicarage. The owners are very friendly and maintain good contact. The treats on arrival were also a nice touch.

Lovely house in a great country location. Couldn't be faulted, luxury living with everything catered for by the owners. Relaxing in the winter with the open fires in the evening but the central heating was there all day. Plent of room for all whatever they wanted to do. Everything supplied, all you need to do is add food. We took our dogs and they enjoyed it tremendously. The communications were reassuring without being intrusive. Who could ask for more? We intend to go back next year, if they'll have us. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Absolutely trouble free booking service. Comprehensive e-mails received prior to our visit with finer details on. We were greeted by the owner who made us feel welcome. We were instantly impressed with the size and character of the accommodation. We were celebrating my parents' 60th wedding anniversary. The kitchen is well equipped. We had a full party buffet on the Saturday and made Sunday lunch the next day (for 12 people) without a problem. The spacious kitchen was perfect for our needs. We loved the log fires, beautiful gardens, scenery, hot tub and sauna. The surrounding countryside is amazing. The owner sent us a message on our second day to check that everything was ok, a lovely touch. A truly trouble free stay. We have some very special memories and would definitely book again. Thank you The Vicarage.

I booked this house for a family holiday , it didn’t disappoint ! Very efficient booking service, we were met at the house and given a full tour, with advice regarding heating, hot tub etc. The kitchen is an amazing place, 2 dishwashers, 2 fridges and enough pots and pans feed the hungriest crowd. The rest of the house is of the same standard. Beautiful bedrooms, lots of baths and showers, and a comfortable sitting room to relax in after a day out. The grounds are wonderful, beautifully kept with enough space to explore and enjoy for any family combination. We were a group of parents, children and grandchildren, and we all enjoyed the outside experience. There is lots of tourist information in the hall, and a lovely piano, which my granddaughter couldn’t resist. The area itself is perfect for touring, we enjoyed a day out in Hay on Wye and another in Ludlow, not to mention a visit to Hereford to see the famous Mappa Mundi. We were also fortunate to visit the Moccas Estate, open only one day of the year. With centuries old trees and a glimpse of England’s wooded past. All in all the perfect place to explore this part of the world. Very highly recommended.

A three night stay for 12 adults. Impressive inside and out with excellent provision of everything you could need in a kitchen (apart from a pizza wheel!). Traditional house renovated with a touch of vintage in great open spaces - excellent space for entertaining. Great outside space (with the hot tub), we didnt venture far, just to the recommended pub on Saturday to watch the rugby, that was great too! Will definitely be looking to book again with a different group of friends or family. Surely that's the best recommendation?

We had a fantastic stay at the Old Vicarage in December. It is a beautiful old house modernised to a really high standard whilst keeping a cosy comfortable feel. The large kitchen diner and large living room is perfect for bigger groups or families. The hot tub in the garden was a hit even in December! We had quite a few kids in our group and they enjoyed football and exploring in the garden, and we made Christmas crafts in the living room. The Golden Valley is stunning English countryside for walking, and the Old Vicarage is so close for trips to Hay on Wye and Hereford. We definitely want to visit again to explore more.

Having seen the excellent reviews, The Old Vicarage was carefully chosen for our annual university reunion, complete with families these days! Can only endorse previous comments, it's a lovely spacious house which has combined old and new with stylish bedrooms. The large open kitchen diner provides a social layout, the breakfast stools are perfect for catching up with friends over morning coffee and as it turned out late nightcaps! The children enjoyed the extensive grounds, plenty of room for ball games and all enjoyed gazing at the stars from the hot tub...

Stayed here with a large party of 9 adults and 5 children just before Christmas and was very impressed. The house is beautifully decorated and extremely well equipped. Lots of bathrooms and a huge kitchen so we never felt like we were tripping over each other. Star-gazing in the hot tub at midnight was the definite highlight for me although the children (aged 5-12) loved the place too with its large grounds for football, hide&seek and snowball fights as well as table football and wii sports inside in front of the roaring fire. Highly recommend - we look forward to visiting again.

Rated by Tanya H reviewed on 4th January 2018

This house is great for a large family party. Unlike a lot of houses that sleep a large number, there was more or less enough comfy seating in the sitting room, and chairs round the dining table. Also plenty of fridge space, really useful as we were there for Christmas. The owners had made a real effort with Christmas decorations, and were very helpful generally. Wifi good, though mobile reception variable - however there is a landline that you're able to use for incoming and outgoing calls. The garden is huge and you are on the edge of a village surrounded by rolling hills - very picturesque. with sheep and horses in the nearby fields. The house is on a fairly quiet 'B' road, and is roughly equidistant from Hereford and Hay on Wye (about 11 miles from both). There are some nice walks from the house, and it's worth visiting the rest of the village and the church where there is a small display about Skeffington Dodgson (Lewis Carroll's brother) who was vicar from 1895 - 1910. The sauna and hot tub weren't quite ready when we were there but are soon going to make the house even more appealing.

We stayed at this property as a group of 7 family members and it was wonderful from start to finish. Everything has been thought of and there are very comprehensive instructions for all the appliances as well. The owners are on the end of a phone and helpful in all matters at all times. The house is very well placed for exploring the Ross - Hay On Wye area and has some fantastic pubs around close by. The house is very warm and well set up. The kitchen has everything you could want with plenty of crockery and cutlery. And 3 fridges!! Amazing. Lovely 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Absolutely perfect for a get together. We all want to move in permanently!!

This lovely brick built and recently refurbished Old Vicarage that has retained some period features includes loads of home comforts (see the blurb) and all perfectly served our extended family celebration. Before we arrived we received an email with access to very detailed information about how the house works and its contents. Then on arrival, we were personally welcomed and introduced to the house and gardens by a member of the family who own the property; a welcome pack including homemade preserves was waiting in the ample sized kitchen as were logs should we need a real fire in either the dining room or lounge. The house is fresh, clean and well equipped, in fact it felt as if the family had just stepped out to let us stay. Oh the joy of waking from a comfortable holiday let bed to see the sun rising over the hill and then taking coffee in the garden with a red kite flying above with the sound of relatively little else! Peace and quiet! Locally, lovely country walks, whilst some of the footpaths are not used a regularly as others, we were able to take one of the maps provided in the house and work our way around for a morning's exercise with two small children. Going a bit further afield there's Hereford, Hay on Wye, The Weir Garden (National Trust), The Gruffalo Trail in Queenswood and The Red Kite feeding centre. Plenty in the area for all ages to do and see. Would highly recommend the Old Vicarage for a relaxing break either with family or with a group of friends (albeit reluctantly as would like to keep it a secret so it would always be available should we need to book again!)

What an impressive place! We loved the huge, fantastically equipped kitchen (3 fridges, a range cooker and enough cutlery, plates, glasses etc for double the number of people staying), which also included a large dining table with french windows that led out onto the lovely garden. The rooms are beautifully presented, the front room was large enough for us all to sit and enjoy the real log fire. The bedrooms are all beautifully decorated, luxurious and spacious. We had a great meal at The Bridge at Michaelchurch Escley, our only problem was getting there - local taxis are in short supply. We visited the cider museum and Belmont Abbey - a Benedictine Monastery, both interesting in their own ways. I really can't fault this property, it was everything I had hoped for and more and Elwyn was always at the end of the phone to answer any queries. I would thoroughly recommend this property.

We have all enjoyed our stay here at The Old Vicarage. Grandpa declares that it has given him "a new lease of life"! Beautiful gardens. The siting-dining area gave plenty of scope for communal cooking and a well stocked kitchen, All in all a wonderful location. Thank you for having such a lovely place for lucky people to enjoy! We have really enjoyed our stay. The property is really suited to a large group like ours and still had plenty of space to spread out in. The garden is so peaceful and we enjoyed the privacy and bird life. The flag was a great touch too! Thanks, The Scots!

Rooms styled like a boutique hotel. Kitchen diner beautifully open and airy allowing easy access to the patio which was perfect for BBQs. The garden was massive and great for kids to play in with the football goal and table football getting a lot of use. Made full use of all the various kitchen utensils and having 3 full fridges was a welcome bonus! In a lovely part of the countryside and would love to come back again.

The location of this property is ideal for a relaxing break, located in the countryside with idyllic views and set within large, peaceful grounds. Beautifully presented, with lots of character and a nice sociable space (very impressive kitchen/dinning area) with two open fires. Offering full facilities and extremely clean, this was perfect for a stress free stay. The bedrooms made it feel more like a luxury hotel, all presented with their own characterful style, very comfortable with quality bed linen and all had beautiful views. Nice village 2miles up the road with a couple of pubs and a small shop and a short car journey to Hereford town centre. We were a party of 10 that have regular small breaks in holiday rentals, and this was by far the best we've stayed at! Very impressed, couldn't recommend it enough!
