Reviews

We were very disappointed with this accommodation. From the moment you walk in you are hit with the stale small of foist and damp. A quick inspection shows that this is coming from thick black mould around both external doors. This is not something that’s happened overnight and has clearly been chosen to be ignored by the owners. As this was our first trip away in 4 years, we decided to make the most of the holiday and raise our concerns at the end of the week. Luckily we had good weather and the area itself is simply marvellous We contacted Sykes Holiday Cottages on the last day of our holiday. They couldn’t have been less interested or helpful, citing that they could only have done something if we’d informed them whilst we were staying there. They said that they would’ve sent their cleaning team in, from the pictures attached this problem wouldn’t just wipe away with a cloth. It needs redecorating, doors re-sealing etc, which is not something I particularly wanted to endure during a 4 day break. We were also told that we should’ve approached the owners direct. Well, if I knew who they were then that might’ve been an option. I can only assume the owners lived in the adjoining property, but as they never approached us once during our stay, an assumption is all that can be. My only interaction with anyone was to arrange collection of the key, when I was told it would be under a plant pot and the lady promptly put the phone down on me without any conversation whatsoever. Also, I wasn’t informing them that the toaster wasn’t working, I would’ve been informing them that in my opinion their accommodation was dirty, which again is something I wasn’t keen on doing So no help, no apology, absolutely no refund/compensation and no reassurance that this will be rectified for any future guests. We were expecting a cosy and romantic retreat and were left very disappointed

Clean, tidy, warm and comfortable. Just what we needed as a base to explore the wonderful countryside which surrounds Giggleswick and Settle. Recommend it to anyone.

Lovely little holiday let only minutes from the centre of the town and the wonderful Booths. Really friendly and helpful hosts and everything you need for a short stay. Great base for so much to do in the local area. We would definitely stay again.

My mum and I stayed here in July for a week so we could do some walks in the Yorkshire Dales. On the website of the cottage provider it stated that it had a freezer which it does not. We asked the owners about this and they said after the floods the previous winter they'd refitted it and not put a freezer in. However given that this was 7 months prior they had plenty of time to rectify the property description. The cooker was also very complicated to operate. The house has a peculiar layout with the bedroom on the ground floor and the living room on the top. The shower had a tendency to leak all over the bathroom floor. The lock on the front door is very stiff and difficult to lock. Main plus points for this property are that it's within easy walking distance of Giggleswick and Settle train stations.
