This immaculately-presented, detached cottage is tucked away in the heart of the coastal village of Silverdale, located on the shores of Morecambe Bay in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This stunning cottage, formerly a cobbler’s workshop, is aptly named as you would never know it existed from the road, yet it is spacious, quirky and is beautifully presented to complement the old and the new. The well-equipped open plan kitchen, with a range cooker has a wall of original brickwork and underfloor heating and opens to a double height with beams. There is comfortable settee seating to the dining area with French doors to the garden. This is not the only recreational space as there is also a stylish lounge with woodburning stove, complete with a corner sofa to sit and relax on when a cosy night in is required. The bedrooms are spacious and light; one has a vanity area and the other has an en-suite together with French doors leading to a super large private balcony. Outside there is a covered veranda, patios, table and chairs and a sun house, all perfect to enjoy an alfresco meal in this sheltered peaceful private rockery garden or plan your day’s activities over a morning drink. You have many walks from the door in this beautiful area. Follow the coast and cliffs along the shore to Jenny Brown’s Point sitting on the elevated giant stone bench on route, whilst enjoying the views of the expanse of the estuary or maybe watch the tide sweep over the sands. Locally there is the Wolf House Gallery showcasing local artists, with studios and a café serving delicious fare, or pop across the road to the farm and sample the home-made ice cream and free range eggs. Birdwatchers will delight at the variety of birds and wildlife at Leighton Moss RSPB reserve, only a mile away, where you can see deer, otters and rare birds, and from where you can walk through the grounds of Leighton Hall and over to Warton Crag. Why not walk to Eaves Wood to see the limestone pavement and The Pepperpot? Arnside itself has a bustling promenade with café and local pubs serving local and award-winning ales, and has the local infamous fish and chip shop you can sample for supper. You can hop on a train from Silverdale to Arnside and over the Kent viaduct in less than a 15 minute journey to the elegant Edwardian town of Grange-over-Sands. This area is a walker’s delight but also there is wonderful cycling and the family-friendly Bay Cycle Way which starts from Morecambe Bay and runs all the way through to Barrow, winds along the coast. Although there is much to see locally, Hideaway Cottage is also well-placed to easily explore the stunning Lake District making this wonderful cottage an ideal location year round.

Our initial booking had to be delayed due to Covid-19 restrictions, and we were so pleased eventually to be able to stay in this fantastically well-equipped, characterful, and peaceful cottage; The Hideaway is well-named as it is not visible from the road, but tucked away cosily, with room for parking (and a nifty 3-point turn). A great location for walking both locally in bonny Silverdale and Arnside, and also further afield in the Lakeland fells. This was a working holiday for us, and the Broadband was excellent and totally reliable, being part of the B4RN network. The kitchen and dining area is light, airy and spacious for working and relaxing. It was so mild during our November stay that we didn't need to use the log burner, which was available in the snug/lounge. A shower room on the ground floor and an upstairs bathroom were both excellent, and thoughtfully supplied with handwash. Both bedrooms are tastefully decorated and a good size. Rachel, whilst not residing nearby, was very friendly, helpful and informative - and available to answer any queries. We hope to return before too long...
Excellent holiday cottage everything you need and very clean. Silverdale is a lovely quiet village but a wonderful base for walking also great train links to get around. The village has two excellent pubs , curry house and cafe , plus a Co-OP for all you need. Definitely will return one of the best holiday cottages we have been to.
We originally booked to stay in April 2020, but transferred to 2021 when travel became impossible. It was well worth the wait. Tucked away, down a narrow driveway, Hideaway is a beautiful property. The reading/dining/kitchen area is spacious and light. The TV lounge with log burner, cosy and warm. Two double bedrooms, one en-suite are lovely and spacious. Blessed with good weather, this is an ideal spot for walking along the coast or into the hills and woods (so many footpaths to choice from). Lovely views across Morecambe Bay to Grange-on-Sands. The owner, Rachel, although not present, was very helpful in providing information and very quickly resolving the one issue we had. We would love to come back, but might have to wait until next year :-(
Beautiful, cosy cottage in peaceful country village. Immaculately presented and clean with parking. Ideal location for walking/cycling with Pubs, Shop, Indian and Coffee Shop five minute walking reach. Perfect summer BBQ patio /sitting area. 15 minutes by car to Kendal, Windermere Lake District. Good service and smooth booking process. We'll definately be returning to this superb retreat for further relaxation!
This is a superbly designed and located property, ideal to explore the local area. We’ve had a fabulous week which has included coastal walks, exploring the Gait Barrows, train trips into the Lake District, evening meals out in the local pubs / hotels, wild life spotting at Leighton Moss, and lunch at L’enclume In Cartmel. Highly recommend this property and location!
A quirky property hidden away, as befits its name, just a few hundred yards from the Main Street. A delightful, quiet, immaculately presented property. You want for nothing as the owners have provided you with every facility you would ever need. Less than 400mtrs to the local beach. There are a couple of pubs within walking distance, along with an Indiana take away and a Co - Op. A great spot to tour the local area. Was very impressed with Arnside.
Just returned from a week spent at the Hideaway. Cannot fault the cottage at all. Well furnished and everything you need for a relaxing break. Great location and enjoyed waking up to the birds every morning. Handy shop just minutes walk from doorstep and pub where you can enjoy a drink or a meal. Ideal location for visiting the lakes, dales and also the coastal village of Arnside. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.
