Reviews

Firstly, this is a great location with just a short drive to both the south and north coasts of Cornwall. The cottage sits perfectly on the Camel trail if you enjoy cycling. The cottage is located in a very quite rural setting with ample parking. Shortly after arrival, the owner contacted us to ensure everything was ok, which was a first for me and very reassuring. The cottage was cleaned to a high standard which is very reassuring under the current concerns surrounding the Covid pandemic. At no point did we feel at risk or that safety had been compromised. The bed linen and the bed itself were very clean and comfortable. In fact the whole cottage was clean and well presented. There was ample utensils, plates and glasses to satisfy our requirements for a thoroughly enjoyable, self contained, peaceful holiday. We rebooked for 2021 as soon as we returned.

The cottage was not cleaned adequately before we arrived for our holiday. The toilet was filthy, carpets had dirt and dust all over them, surfaces hadn’t been wiped, remote control and place mats were dirty and old good left in bread bin. There was broken furniture and the cottage was not of the standard Listed. There was also the most putrid smell for most of our stay which Mrs t we struggled to be downstairs and there was inadequate seating as the armchair collapsed as I sat on it!! COVID rules have not been adhered to Skyes cottages really didn’t seem to concerned by this. They were shown photo evidence of the sub standard cleaning and passed the problem into the owner. The owner said she could send out a cleaner to re clean the cottage. By this time we had driven 5 hours and really needed a holiday so began cleaning to ensure we would be safe in our stay. In all honesty the last thing we wanted was someone else coming in once we had settled to begin cleaning something they clearly they couldn’t do!! The owner offered us £50 for our 2 hour clean, our purchased cleaning materials and our massive inconvenience. We accepted and then came the smell, broken furniture, mouldy food in bread bin came to light. The owner was advised at the time and we thought we deal with the matter when we got home with Skyes. As we accepted the £50 from the owner apparently that was seen as a final settlement. This is disgusting as our holiday was not enjoyed because the cottage was not fully useable due to the broken chairs, cleanliness and the smell! We will not use the company again and certainly not recommend this cottage.
