Reviews

We have just returned from Bee Hive Cottage Morwenstow and, having booked with Sykes a number of times, must say what a disappointment this was. Dirty/dusty, full of cobwebs (and spiders) dark, smelled of damp, garden was 'wild' and crawling with ants. NOT the quality we would expect from Sykes. Yes, we opted for 'quaint' but we didn't expect gloomy and damp. They may as well have fitted a step ladder to the bedrooms - it would have been safer. I realise that you can't expect anything other than 'old' in a thatched cottage but if the kitchen appliances and bath (after clearing the cobwebs daily) weren't as lovely, we would have left after the first day. The windows rattled all night if there was the slightest breeze and had to be wedged with a book....there was a note saying we shouldn't try to open them as they weren't weighted properly.......We really didn't want to go home after a day out on the lovely Cornish coast. What an utter disappointment after paying £800 for the week. On return, we see that the photographs have all been taken with the lights on! This is deception. Whilst the 'newer' kitchen and bathroom were quite bright, the main living space was dark and dingy. First one down the stairs had the job of walking through the cobwebs and catching the latest army of spiders. Never again will we book with Sykes. VERY disappointed. Don't be fooled by the beautiful exterior photograph like we were. Lesley Allen
