A unique venue, this exquisite conversion of a 300 year old apple crushing barn is situated in south-east Cornwall between the villages of Landrake and Tideford near the city of Plymouth. It occupies a tranquil and tucked away location, amid a patchwork of fields and wooded valleys, yet is a hop from the Cornish Riviera coastline and beaches and the Tamar Valley, which is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Detached and well-screened from the owners neighbouring farmhouse, it is nicely private and makes the perfect escape at anytime of year. Enter the spacious open plan living room and discover a tasteful blend of the modern and the rustic. Oak wood floors, exposed beams, modern art, soft lamps and a deep rug adds to the comfort, elegance and style. The modern kitchen is well equipped with gadgets aplenty including a coffee machine. Romantics can enjoy candlelit suppers at the dining table set within an inglenook or on the south-facing patio during the warmer months and watch the sun set. A sumptuous bed dressed with plump pillows and soft cotton bed linens awaits in the first floor bedroom. An intimate and open plan design, a low wall separates the bed area from the bathroom area with its free-standing bath, sleek shower and a loo tucked into the corner. Expect to relax and be pampered with White Company hand and bath towels, luxurious toiletries, cotton bathrobes and slippers. A stable door provides access to external steps. Convenient for explorers, you are not far from visitor hotspots at Looe, Polperro, Fowey, Cawsand and Kingsand and the long sandy beach and scenic coast path at Whitsand Bay. Scenic walks can commence from the front door along green lanes and field paths through meadows and woods with pleasant river views. Stop for a refreshment at the nearby and highly rated local The Rod and Line pub or Heskyn Mill restaurant, return to your sweet cottage and cosset yourself in luxury.

Saltash is dominated by the magnificent Tamar Bridge, Brunels masterpiece of engineering taking people from Devon to Cornwall across the Tamar River, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Saltash retains much of its old Cornish charm with narrow streets rising steeply from the banks of the river, and plenty of shops and interesting inns. From the old quayside there are river trips up stream to Calstock, a pretty village with white cottages on a steep hillside. Here, the 120 foot giant 11-arched Calstock Railway Viaduct towers above the River Tamar and carries one of Britains most picturesque branch lines down to the coast. Saltash offers some beautiful walks along the Tamar, and is only a five minute drive from Plymouth, with a plenty to occupy visitors including the historic Barbican quayside area with cafes, shops and bistros, the National Marine Aquarium and several theatres. A perfect base for exploring the area along the beautiful River Tamar.

Reviews

This is the second time we have stayed at Polly's Bower having enjoyed our stay last year so much. The standard of the accommodation is excellent, fully equipped kitchen, beautiful views, and a lovely fire for when the weather turns! (A basket of logs are provided to start you off). We stayed last year and this year with our daughter; both high chair and travel cot are available although we brought our own travel cot. The welcome basket is a lovely addition and makes it that extra bit special. Thank you Louise!

My husband and I stayed here at short notice with our dog and were made to feel very welcome. Pollys Bower is a gorgeous cottage set in beautiful, peaceful surroundings with everything you could want for a romantic getaway. The bed and bedding was so warm and comfortable and waking up to the sound of birds in the morning was sheer bliss. We would definitely stay here again!!
