Pet friendly and sleeping 4, it's a perfect jumping off point for a young family or a couple who want to explore the South Lakes, the Yorkshire Dales and the Cumbrian coast. The accommodation at Laurel Cottage has been finished to a very high standard, keeping period features like the old wood beams and adding modern convenience. There's a spacious and open plan living/dining and kitchen area that's fully equipped. The living space is beautifully decorated and there are squashy sofas, a wood burning stove and a dining table. Outside the views are simply enchanting over the rolling green hills and you can view them from the paved front and back gardens. Relax on a summer's day and listen to the babbling of the river or take a stroll to one of the many pubs nearby. There's private parking for 1 car, plus on-street parking. Spark Bridge is just 2 miles from Coniston Water and a 5-minute drive from the southern tip of Lake Windermere. This is a peaceful and tranquil part of the world, ideal for exploring the South Lakes but also offering a tranquil haven away from the tourist hot spots. Reviews

A really lovely cottage, clean and well furnished. Loved the upstairs living quarters and as it was so hot it was lovely sleeping in a cool bedroom downstairs. Perfect spot in a quiet village/hamlet with a pub! A great central spot for visiting Coniston water and Lake Windermere and actually all The Lakes. Parking round the back. Has a utility room which is ideal to keep a dog in. A v small garden at the back with no grass but slate/concrete paving with Table and chairs. Enclosed area so dog couldn’t get out. Lovely neighbours too. Highly recommend and will be back one day!

Beautiful cottage, clean, tidy, well equipped with everything from DVDs, games for the children and Tupperware to take your picnic in! Extra logs for the log burner are available with an honesty box so no shopping needed for extra logs. Set in a quiet small village with a friendly local pub serving a great value food and children's menu. Great value for money, would return to this wonderful cottage.

We had a really enjoyable christmas in this beautiful cottage. Everything was spotless. Comfy bed, cosy lounge. Lovely area even with the river raging through. We explored Coniston, Windermere, plus many other places. The food in the village serves delicious food and enormous helpings. We are planning on returning to this cottage in the near future. We loved the xmas decorations and thank you for the card and welcome gift. We had booked to take our dog but decided to leave her at home with family, I am glad we did because the weather was awful and I would have worried over the lovely carpets etc. The only problem we had was with the back door it doesn't unlock from the outside which is a shame as it leads into utility room which is perfect for muddy boots and paw as etc. We could only enter the property through front door. Thank you so much for a perfect restful holiday.

We booked a very last minute family break at the cottage. The ch (4 yrs & 15 months) had plenty to keep them entertained and really enjoyed paddling in the nearby river. The cottage was well equipped and the option to clean and dry clothes was an added bonus. The travel cot was large which was great and my 4 year old loved the bunk bed. The only hitch was the window seat which my 15 month year mastered how to open. Overall a great short break thank you

Had a great holiday, based here, convenient for lakes and coast. Very pretty village with two pubs, both with food service and dog friendly. Cottage itself, was clean and well equipped, even toilet rolls and cleaning stuff supplied. The lounge and kitchen are upstairs, with bedrooms below and worked fine for us. All in all very pleased

Difficult to find fault with the cottage and facilities. met all our expectations.

The cottage has everything you need and the kitchen is well equipped, only small downsides are that there is a slight smell of damp on the lower level, a minimal amount of storage in the bedrooms and the red carpet is a nightmare to keep clean. On the upside it is warm, comfortable and a plentiful supply of hot water and the location is good for Coniston and Windermere. The cottage also has small rear and front secure gardens which was great for letting out our dog. There is also a small set of garden chairs and table stored in the utility. We really enjoyed our time at Laurel Cottage and hope to go back again next year.

Not only did the description of the accommodation on line meet of expectations, it exceeded them. This is a fabulously well appointed and charming little cottage, set in an equally charming village. Our reason for picking this place was principally that it was dog friendly, but also that it was close enough to the main attractions of the South Lakes, without being right in them. Clean, comfortable and well laid out, it ticked all the right boxes. It was also serviced by a very helpful lady who had the fore thought to turn the heating up a notch prior to our arrival, as it was a little on the cool side back then.

Lovely cottage and surrounding area. Two pubs within walking distance - one of which did not serve food until end of May but the other pub was very popular and we could not get a table in the restaurant on a Saturday night without a reservation, although we did enjoy scampi and chips in the bar at a reasonable price. The people we met in the village were very friendly. I would only echo the sentiment regarding the soft beds and the noisy heating but these are very minor points and did not affect our enjoyment of the cottage.

This is a lovely cottage with ample room for a family of four. It has been furnished and decorated to a very high standard. It is a little way from the house to the lakes and a car is essential. There is a reserved parking space to the rear, but roadside parking is allowed. Easy access to the south lakes and good road links for exploring. A dog is allowed in the property at an extra charge. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable holiday and would not hesitate to book there again.

Initially we were a little worried by the arrival procedure for the cottage, it seemed very vague and made us slightly wary, but, it was actually a very smooth and efficient way. The cottage was (as advertised) very easy to find and the instructions we were given were very easy to follow. We were extremely pleased with the presentation of the cottage, the decor is simple yet homely and we were provided with everything we could have possibly needed. The welcome pack was in an easy to see place and included helpful advice on the nearest amenities etc... The cottage itself was kept immaculately, both the bathrooms and the kitchen were hygienic and ready for our arrival. We had requested a travel cot for our newborn baby and this was provided with brand new, unused bedding. Our only issue with this was there was not much space for the cot and it had to be erected under a window, which was a little drafty. We visited the pub just on the road twice during our stay, for a lunch and dinner and the food was delicious, reasonably priced and quick - we would recommend at least one visit here. The nearby town of Ulverston (10/15 mins drive) is also delightful and has a range of quaint shops alongside more conventional convenience stores (Co-op and Tesco). The people of both Spark Bridge and Ulverston made us feel very welcome, and everyone we came across were both polite and friendly. The only negative aspects of our break would be, that from the cottage there is not really much of a view, but you only have to step out of the front door and cross the road to be on the river edge. And the ghastly hum of the water system, but after a couple of days we had acquainted ourselves with that also. The bed in the master bedroom is also very very soft! These were minor issues in what was a really lovely week.

A really very pleasant cottage in a quiet village with a great pub. Only a few miles away from the the lakes attractions, but away from the main tourist routes. Cottage is immaculate and totally equipped, even towels and tea towels.
