This wonderfully presented cottage rests in the village of Cracoe, North Yorkshire, a remote location between Skipton and Grassington, and just a 10-minute walk from the local pub. Perfect for families, Shiers Farmhouse is a stone-built retreat, a homely place to enjoy a comfortable break away, with the accommodation providing two floors of excellence. The interior comprises a collection of rooms commencing with a country-style kitchen, where tiled flooring continues through to a charming dining area. Settle down for dinner with your loved ones, then enjoy the sitting room which offers a relaxing place to unwind; warmly decorated with stylish sofas, books, and a woodburning stove which contributes to the cosy ambience. A contemporary wet room type shower suite is also located on the ground floor, whilst the beautiful family bathroom is situated on the upper level. Three bedrooms each reflect their own personality, presented in a variety of formations, with somewhere for the whole family to pick and choose. Views of the garden, bedside tables, exposed beams, and period features furnishings all compliment the interior and its characterful appeal. The large, lawned garden is ideal for alfresco dining or you may wish to enjoy a morning coffee outside before venturing out for the day. The village lies on the Way of the Roses, a coast-to-coast cycling route which opened in 2010 running between the seaside resort of Morecambe on the Irish Sea and Bridlington in East Yorkshire. A ten minute drive away in the village of Hetton is the award-winning Angel Inn pub. In nearby Grassington tourists can visit the Folk Museum which is housed in two miner’s cottages and features many exhibits and artefacts on village life through the ages. Myself and my family had a lovely 2 weeks at Shiers Farmhouse. The cottage was beautifully clean and we were welcomed with milk, tea and biscuits. The kitchen was very well appointed and after a couple of snagging issues we were able to access internet and Netflix which was appreciated by our teenaged sons. The cottage was very homely and in a beautiful location close to Grasmere and Skipton which are both lovely. It was the ideal spot for a walking holiday. There were a couple of things that could have been improved to make this a 5 star holiday: Bigger towels please! Although August, it was chilly and damp and we had my parents with us who are in their eighties. The house instructions said we could not control the heating as it was set for us and this meant a week of very chilly evenings and constantly wet towels as the towel rails/heating never came on. The house sleeps 6 but there was not enough furniture to seat 6 in the lounge - we did have to retrieve bedroom chairs. Despite the hiccups outlined above we really enjoyed our stay but they were probably irritating enough to stop me booking again.
