Reviews

If youre looking for a quiet place to chillout, or a base for exploring the lakes, this place is ideal. Very friendly hosts, who are happy to help. The accomendation was better than we were expecting. Bedrooms downstairs, open kitchen, living area upstairs, giving some fantastic views. Working farm, but didnt undermine our stay, in fact enjoyed watching the cows coming and going. Some great local walks, and local attractions like Muncaster castle. If you forget anything, there is a well stocked SPAR only 5 mins in the car. We did visits to Buttermere and Windermere, which wasnt has long to get to as we thought. We even found time to climb Scarfell Pike. Great place, cant wait to go back.

A very nice cottage - can see Great Gable from the window. About half a mile from the coast, in a farm courtyard (expect animal noises!). Convenient for all the western valleys and beautiful beaches. The dog loved it. Spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Wifi was a bit dodgy - it's rural Cumbria - but there are plenty of cafes around offering free Wifi, so it's not the end of the world if you are only after picking up messages. There are quiet lanes for early morning dog walking, and as I said, a huge choice of beaches for the dog to run wild and free. And there is a therapist operating from the farmhouse, so if you are in need of some physio, it could be a good place to book for a week....

A lovely cosy cottage. The owner was very welcoming and it was great that the log burning stove had plenty of wood and coal for our stay. A great place to have as a base to visit the Western Lakes.

I spent Christmas week 2014 at Muncaster View with my partner and his parents (and their dog). It's an absolutely lovely cottage, quite modern inside but designed to be cosy and traditional. It was great having an en suite for each bedroom so we had completely separate bathrooms to use and no communal one. The log burner and electric fire in the lounge area added charm and worked a treat at keeping us toasty, as did the electric heaters in the bedrooms. We managed to have a great Christmas dinner despite a few hiccups with the oven (there's no seal around it and it's not screwed into the unit) and some mis-timings with the electric hob - but what can you expect for a holiday rental, they're not really designed for grand meals! Mike the owner was friendly and helpful. He left a small Christmas tree in the cottage and a huge box of shortbread as a gift for us, which was a lovely touch. It was great being surrounded by his farm animals, we loved waking up to see the sheep out in the frosty fields. The location is also ideal - we managed to visit Whitehaven, Gosforth (with some very lovely pubs), Ravenglass, Windermere and Coniston in 4 days. Just beware of the Hardknott Pass - it's a truly awful road and should be avoided at all costs... despite what the sat nav says! All in all, I absolutely loved our week away here and hope to go back one day.

The host was excellent from the time we arrived until we left. He ensured we had all that we needed and made our stay very comfortable throughout our stay including providing sufficient logs etc for the log burner. Due to the holiday being at Christmas, it was enhanced by wonderful views from the property overlooking the snow capped mountains including Mount Scafell. We will definitely recommend this holiday cottage to anyone and we plan to return there without a doubt.

The position of the cottage for exploring the South West area of the lake district is perfect. The accommodation on a working farm had everything you could wish for and was clean and spacious, with a lovely view towards the mountains. The only thing lacking was an outside area to sit and enjoy a barbecue with the lovely view. The owners were friendly and helpful.

Views from the cottage were superb. Well positioned for exploring that area of the lake district. Clean and comfortable, easy parking. Very enjoyable stay on the whole. Farmer very friendly.

Have just spent a lovely week with my sister @ Muncaster view. A lovely little cottage with wonderful views over the Cumbrian hills. It is situated on a working farm and we received a warm welcome from Mike, the owner. He was a great host, working the farm and looking after us if we needed anything, nothing was too much trouble. The cottage is very quiet with only the sound of the cows and birds waking us in the morning. Well worth a visit.

I liked the location which meant I could walk to the beach and Ravenglass with my dog. The hotels/pubs were very dog friendly and the meals of a high quality.
