This cosy shepherd’s hut is situated within the owner’s grounds, in stunning Bronte countryside near to the village of Oxenhope. This superb setting is perfect for couples looking for something a little bit different and provides a great spot for a romantic break away. Surrounded on three sides by lovely views, guests will be delighted to get away-from-it-all and experience a refreshing atmosphere. Three steps lead up to the hut and into a small porch area, where you can hang up your coats and kick off your boots. The open-plan living area has a compact but functional kitchen where you can rustle up delicious meals to be enjoyed out on the lovely patio. The main bed sits at the end of the room with a window looking out across the attached paddock, where horses can be seen grazing the day away. After a long hard walk, cosy up together and feel the warmth from the woodburning stove or sit out on the patio, light the chiminea and take in the beautiful surroundings. With everything you need, including a modern shower room, this is an opportunity not to be missed. If you can tear yourselves away, there are lovely public footpaths in and around the village, with some of the most popular walks situated around the reservoirs and the Bronte Falls. Walk along Bronte Way visiting the Bronte Bridge, leading out onto the bleak moors where you will find Top Withins. Skipton is nearby, with its delightful castle and further afield is the Victorian spa town of Harrogate, boasting fabulous shops, and an excellent theatre. Simply perfect for that romantic break with a difference!

Oxenhope lies amid wonderful scenery, and offers the chance to take advantage of the multitude of walks in the area. The village, with its shops, churches and pubs, is home to the terminus for the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, which runs on a regular basis to Haworth and on down to Keighley. The area was made famous by the Bronte sisters, and the outstanding countryside was famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren.

Reviews

Tracey was very friendly and helpful, fresh milk on arrival was much appreciated. The hut is well equipped with TV and wifi, dual microwave/oven/hob and fridge with a big freezer. The log burner is very efficient and heated the hut in the evening very quickly. We had a lovely BBQ on the terrace area outside the hut and our dog made friends with pet sheep through the fence. The farm includes a livery for horses and it was lovely to see children learning horse riding skills in the facilities. Wonderful walks on the Bronte Moors from the doorstep and lovely local pubs, our dog was welcomed with free treats. We would go again.

The Shepherd's Hut was situated in a beautiful part of Yorkshire, with stunning views overlooking Oxenhope. The host could not have been more welcoming. It was obvious she has put her heart and soul into the Shepherd's hut. The interior is gorgeous, and the space is very well used. It's so cosy and homely! I will be returning.

A friend booked this as a surprise last summer and it was lovely! The lady who owns the hut was more than accommodating and made some great recommendations of places to go eat. Lovely views and was really clean, i will definitely be returning!

Cute little nest up in the hills in the middle of Brontë country. It's on farmland, so you have to accept it isn't a holiday camp! The views over the valley are stunning. The hut has everything you need and there was a generous basket of goodies waiting for us when we arrived.

The hut is beautiful with everything you need, however i would never recommend staying here for a peaceful getaway. Not only is the hut pretty much in the owner's back yard; you can wave to them from the toilet, there is just no privacy at the location (see the attached photo). The family were seen constantly driving in and out of the farm, playing in the area around the hut and attending to the horses. Hardly a romantic setting. The view out of the rear window was ruined by dumped rubbish and clutter (see attached photo). The atmosphere of the hut, when trying to relax on the patio, felt like you was being constantly watched by the owners since they were situated so close. There was also no chance of enjoying the countryside's peaceful atmosphere seeing as the owners decided to do their gardening for many hours in the morning. As much as you try to phase out the noise of a lawnmower, it becomes quite difficult. So if you're looking for a quiet, secluded get away, look elsewhere!
