There are also a number of interesting properties and heritage sites in the area such as the Lakeside Wray Castle, Beatrix Potter s home Hilltop and Dove Cottage, the former home of William Wordsworth. The area is also known for the range of outdoor pursuits on offer and there are a number of adventure centres nearby which offer the chance to have a go at climbing, canyoning and ghyll scrambling amongst other activities.
