Bideford, with its traditional pannier market, independent shops, and range of well regarded eateries, is a great place to enjoy a slice of authentic Devonshire life. The two mile wide beach at Westward Ho! is just three miles away, as is the pretty village beach at Instow. A ferry runs from Instow, taking passengers across the estuary to the neighbouring fishing village of Appledore, where visitors will find several bistros and a pretty quay where they can watch the fishermen return with the day s catch.
