Find family friendly walks up Buckbarrow or Middle Fell just behind the cottage, while the peaks of Sca Fell and Scafell Pike are a fantastic, challenging climb and both within 6 miles. Muncaster Castle is 10 miles away and has a colourful history and beautiful grounds, or take a trip on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, known as the La'al Ratty, making a leisurely 7 mile journey through beautiful scenery to the sea. Find beaches dotted up and down the Cumbrian coast, such as Drigg, Seascale and Braystones Beach all within 11 miles, perfect for long walks, picnics and a dip in the sea. Head 18 miles south to find Broughton in Furness, where there is a bakery, butchers, small grocery store and a choice of cafes and pubs, whilst 17 miles north Whitehaven has shops, supermarkets, places to eat and a lovely marina.
