The town has plenty of great restaurants, bars, pubs, shops, cafes and galleries, as well as a 17th century castle, and is known for its annual horse fair. The North Pennines, Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are all within 15 miles, making this is a fantastic base for discovering some of England s finest countryside. The town of Penrith (14 miles) has some great shops, with nearby attractions including Dalemain Mansion and Historic Gardens (16 miles), and Lowther Castle and Gardens (12.5 miles).
