The surrounding area has a wealth of walking routes through the Eden Valley, including at Lowther Castle (2 miles), which also boasts a delightful play area and cafe. Climb to the summit of Askham Fell (3 miles) for stunning views over Ullswater or head down to the water to ride on one of the iconic steamers. Just 5 miles away is the charming market town of Penrith, with its cobbled lanes and wide variety of independent shops.
